I think it is so very rude of everybody to bash the set list for the vegas shows! :o i think you should all count yourselves lucky that you got the opportunity to see her, no one forced you to pay all that money. Just think how gutted you would feel if she announced she was no longer gonna tour beacause all the fans were bitching her songs!!!!! i can see how you would be disapointed, but give her a break.

I agree. People here are really unreal. :distress: I want to Stevie to sing WHATEVER SHE wants to sing and feels comfortable with. Has anyone ever seen tape of her performance at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame with Sheryl Crow when she sang FFG? She was SO frickin' nervous she sounded terrible. I felt so bad for her. That's the last thing I want to see when I go to a show.

Sure I'd love to see her do different stuff, but only if she wants to do it. She planned to do more different songs, but for whatever reason, she changed her mind. People are entitled to do that. I respect Stevie's decisions and am VERY much looking forward to my shows on friday and saturday.

If wishes came true!

If only artists (using the term loosely) would take their fans into consideration. Most fans DON'T want to hear the same songs over & over, tour after tour. If she likes doing, oh, say, the "Outside The Rain/Dreams" medley, fine, play it during sound check. I, for one, am painfully sick of hearing it tour after tour. Its tired, its worn, its time for the dustbin.

What ever happened to the days when "artists" took chances? Oh yeah, Neil Young is still around.

It's just a defense mechanism, a way to justify why you didn't go. If everyone was there, we'd still grumble over the songs, BUT didn't she sound terrifiec, didn't she look great, did you see her twirl, she looked at me, she did my favorite song, etc, etc, etc.

I have been to every FM/Stevie tour since 1977 - I am leaving for Las Vegas in a few hours. Am I disheartened about the setlist? YES! Will I enjoy the show? OF COURSE!
I am also a huge Elton John fan who has chosen not to see his Las Vegas show because I know it caters to the casual fan - Vegas style.
Stevie made the error of doing interviews regarding these shows that led everyone to expect something different. Clearly, that's not the case.
Period.

You aren't talking about the time she did Fall From Grace at the Blockbuster Awards are you? You can't be because that performance was one of the best I have ever seen her do! She SHREDDED that song! Plus it was the first time she ever played it live. I remember I was watching thinking that she would just do Gold Dust Woman or something, and then when it started and she was belting it out, I just stood there with my mouth open. I could kick myself too because I let someone borrow that tape and I never got it back!

And this is the point: Stevie has alot of hits, but the deal is that she doesn't have to do them at EVERY SHOW. She has enough solo material that she can draw a line in the sand and do FM songs with FM and Stevie songs in her own solo shows. For a "retrospective, Vegas-style" show, yeah, then pull some more FM in, it's understandable. Look at all the gems others have suggested. Look at what she talked about, and then backed away from. With just a little tweeking, it could be phenomenal!!!

I was all ready to respond to Sable, but this is so much better...

Since the rules here forbid copying entire posts from other message boards I'll just sum it up by saying,...

It seems the people on Mick's site were embarrassed about coming to the Ledge last night and going back and posting on Mick's site about the set list posted on the Ledge. They seemed embarrassed when someone mentioned the Ledge and they tried to distance themselves from it like it was a bad disease. I think there's an unwritten rule there about not referring to the Ledge and this site  . Of course, it's fine that Song_bird from Mick's site comes to the Ledge regularly and takes all the news from this site and posts it over there without ever giving this site credit. The fans over at Mick's board are nothing if not consistent. :p

After posting here for the last few weeks and making it appear you were joining in the Ledge board, Jamie, you went back over to Mick's site this morning and tried to make it appear you were just reading the board instead of actively participating. If that weren't bad enough, you then went on to trash this site and many of it's members by saying "there are lots of pissed-off, angry, jealous people there, but oh well"

Thanks a lot, Jamie. We feel so loved. We're so glad you decided to start posting here so you could run back and tell your friends on Mick's site about how terrible some fans are here, all the while you're posting here and joining is like one of the group.

We're terribly sorry we're too unreal for you. Why visit and try to fit in someplace all the while you're going back to another site and trashing this site and the people who post here? How long do you think that's going to work?

What ever happened to the days when "artists" took chances? Oh yeah, Neil Young is still around.

Neil Young just goes CRAZY with the set list changes. I don't think he does a same song more tehn 3-4 times a tour. And rarely is it ever filled with all the hits (Heart of Stone, Hey Hey My My, Cowgirl in the Sand, Soutehrn Man, Old man, Cineman Girl...) And he FILLS the set many times with songs that haven't even been released) I almost think he takes it TOO far. I wish Stevie and the mac would take elements of what Neil Young does.

Why can't some people handle difference of opinion? Honestly, why do people start entire threads just because they don't like some postings.

Stevie's a big girl, and she's an artist. That means she should expect criticism and know how to handle it.

If she's going to go on record saying that this show is going to be something different and state specifically that it gives her an opportunity to find some old songs she's never done before....and then once again plays it safe, then are you really surprised that some people have a reaction?

And, Sable, I actually am not sure I mind if Stevie stops touring. I have been seeing her since I was 7 years and now that I'm pushing 40, I am questioning why I would want to spend lots of money and deal with annoying concert crowds to see this amazingly talented woman continue to play nearly the same stuff over and over and over.

No one should ever think they are a bigger fan because they refuse to find anything negative about Stevie.

Stevie is a writer, so I am sure she is used to constructive criticizm. She seems like the kind of person who would respect people who told her the truth, and didn't just try to sugar coat everything just because she is a celebrity.
I'm going to the Thursday show, and I am thrilled to be able to get a mini vacation and attend a Stevie Nicks concert. Stevie did in fact hype up this experience to levels which it surely did not reach. It doesn't bother me that much because from day 1 she has always talked about things that never came to be, such as the Rhiannon Movie/Album, Solo World Tours, a boxed set that would "show Mick Fleetwood how a REAL boxed set should be done. I mean, I just take it all with a grain of salt and wait and see how it turns out.

I agree that Stevie's performance of FFG at Blockbuster was out of this world.

And the reason? Because she didn't play it safe. She was scheduled to sing Sorcerer that night and surprised us all with this song that most of us had never heard before. She reclaimed her rightful place as kickass rock-n-roll queen that night.

As dissention would say - tough tacos, Jamie!

Stevie knows about the Penguin and The Ledge message board and if this place isn't good enough for her to know about, what the hell are you doing here trying to fit in? Trying to find a home now that Mick's site is a cemetery? FYI, all of the members of FM know and appreciate what this site is and what it does for the band.

The members of this site are proud of it and don't need you coming here and insulting this board and it's members. Stevie and Fleetwood Mac benefit greatly from this site and are not so thin skinned that they can't know about fan criticism.

Is anyone getting a bad deja vu like they've been down this road before with the people from Mick's site.

If you can't handle setlist criticism under these circumstances, I'd hate to see you when the opinions about songs and other things really get critical.

No. And i'm one of those leaving on Thursday for the Friday show... I'm looking forward to it.. I've heard all the concerts in the past on cd or saw them on tape or dvd.. I know the sets, yet I'm still excited to check it out.

And it IS something she's never done before... when was the last time she played the Coliseum??

But I must admit... I would have thought the video screens would have been used to the full potential. But I'm thinking maybe taking old footage and converting into imax film wasn't worth it... too expensive... not enough time. I don't know the process for doing something like that, but maybe there were problems that couldn't be avoided. I would imagine it's a little more involved then slapping in a vid tape.

SO well, put. Thank you.

Yes, I was disappointed to hear about the setlist. Was I angry? No. Jealous? (I still don't really get that accusation) No. Spoiled? Far from it. The reason I wasn't in Vegas was because I DON'T get everything I wish for on a silver platter. And $1000 for a trip to see my favourite artist wasn't in the cards for me. (No pun intended) :sorry:

The reason for my disappointment, as has been expressed here by many, is that this Vegas showcase was built up (by Stevie herself) as something she had never done before - that there were giong to be lots of surprises, and that old songs would be pulled from the vaults. We are allowed to be disappointed that that did not happen.

Feelings are feelings, Jamie. You may not agree with how we are feeling, but you cannot tell us our feelings are wrong. They just are.

Am I going to stop being a fan of Stevie? Are you out of your mind??? I have loved her for as long as I've known her voice and her music. That will never end. And I will go to see her this summer, and I will love every minute of it. Dreams and Outside the Rain included. But would I love to hear... I don't know... Kind of Woman or Storms or Mistaken Love or Planets of the Universe or a half dozen other gems? You bet.

Getting defensive is one thing, calling people jealous in the manner you did, just because they don't like a setlist is another.

I'm sorry you've had to put up with us angry jealous assholes. I'm sorry that you can't appreciate the wonderful community of fans and friends here. I'm sorry you think everyone here is so shallow and petty that they'd be so jealous of other people going to see a show that they post about disliking a setlist.

Everyone has their own opinion.

I was absolutely pissed off that she didn't come to the UK for TISL after promising too (I'm sure Strand will pipe up about this ;) ) and I'm sure at the time I voiced my annoyance. Good point here. I think this is being really misconstrued. Everyone is happy Stevie is touring, we love and appreciate her. However, the Vegas concerts were billed as being a once in a lifetime event. Think of it this way, during the SYW tour, would anyone have paid to see FM in Seattle when they lived in Pittsburgh and could catch the show in a month or two. That's kind of how some feel, but nonetheless, money is paid and we'll enjoy the heck out of the shows anyway and just be glad to be there; no harm to opinions about Stevie or her shows, just a little 'sigh'. and move on.

Lindsey's not afraid to try new things as was evident in his choice of songs for Soundstage.
I left that place with my chin on the floor.
I bet his tickets wouldn't be $150, either.

Exactly! You can be disappointed in her choices for this set of Vegas shows and still be happy that she's touring and grateful you have the opportunity to see her. I don't understand how some people can't grasp that.

Many have also stated that the people who are going to these shows are most likely enjoying them and are thrilled they went. But since this was more of an expensive excursion to see these special shows, combined with Stevie's comments about what she planned to perform, it's not surprising that some fans are disappointed. Since Stevie never steps out of her box with her setlist, it seemed all the more special when she was promising a show like nothing we've ever seen. Maybe that should have been the tip off? To her these 3 songs is a huge deal, to us....feh?

Lindsey's not afraid to try new things as was evident in his choice of songs for Soundstage.
I left that place with my chin on the floor.I'd venture to say though, that it's a little easier for Lindsey to impress people with his setlists, because he has toured so very rarely.

As long as he didn't pull out the same setlist he did on the 'Out Of The Cradle' tour, then he should be able to please the majority of his fans.

But, if he had been touring steadily since 1981, then I'm sure there would be a lot of people saying, "God... 'Go Insane' and 'Big Love' again?!? Why can't he do something like 'Time Bomb Town' instead?"

It's just the nature of the beast. We're diehard fans... we read all the reviews, most of us go to at least one show per tour and some of us more often than that, we trade with each other to get as many bootleg concert videos and CDs as our heart's desire, and so on... so aside from Stevie retiring every song she's ever performed and starting from scratch, there's a lot of room for us to be disappointed.

Don't get me wrong... I'm right with you guys who would love to read a review of one of Stevie's tours, and be absolutely FLOORED by the wide-range of songs she's doing.
In that regard, 'Enchanted' has been the only tour that I was really seriously disappointed I missed out on.

But... if I were to finally have the ability to see Stevie perform live, I know that I wouldn't be the least disappointed by seeing "Rhiannon," "Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman," "Edge Of Seventeen," etc. In fact, after all of these years, I'd probably be pretty bummed if I didn't get to finally experience those songs in person. (Well, I did get to hear some of them on the 'Behind The Mask' tour, but that feels like a lifetime ago now.)

I saw 15 SYW shows and Stevie was so on last night it wasnt even funny.
She may not have done enough for some of ya'll but IMHO it was worth it to fly here for BATB alone. She looked and sounded gorgeous and the atmosphere of the whole thing was indescribable.
She gave it 110 percent and I am grateful to have shared it with her.
No matter what Stevie would have pulled out for these shows, some of you would have complained. Pathetic.

Its the same thing with other bands or artists who do mix it up a lot and change their setlist nightly or every few days and pull out old gems to add to new tours. Fans complain, it goes with the territory:)

Since you are not reading this thread and coming into it rather late, it's not fair to call people pathetic, especially since they didn't see the show and were only reading the thread expecting a lot of rare gems to be performed.

Many of us have posted that the people who went must have had a fabulous time and being there is different from reading a setlist on a message board after all the hype, and being in that theater seeing that same show performed.

Glad you were able to go and have such a fabulous time!

Actually I am very, very grateful I didn't go to the trouble and expense of going to Vegas for any of these shows.I'm also grateful I have a good and vivid memory and can recall the "Wild Heart ' tour where the set list was essentially the same if you trade Sorcerer and FFG out for Gypsy and Sara and Landslide for Leather and Lace. Now that was an incredible show ,passionate and truly wild and what rock and roll should be .Years ago Lindsey lobbed that accusation at Stevie that her show was becoming a "Vegas lounge act' what a strange irony that she is moving toward realizing that accusation.

From all the reviews, Soundstage sounded like a once-in-a-lifetime experience (don't mean to rub that in, Christy! :( :xoxo: ), and I'm still dying to see it.
Though I stopped holding my breath for it about a year ago. I was tired of constantly fainting from the lack of oxygen!

Also, Stevie's catalog is far larger and she has many more songs to choose from so...I think this is a case where the fact that she has had more chart hits than LB, can be very straitjacketing. People who go to her shows... aside from the die-hards, of course... expect to hear all of the radio hits, or at least a large majority of them. And Stevie apparently feels obligated to comply.

I think there's probably a far larger diehard fan to casual fan ratio at one of LB's shows, so that works in our favor in regards to the setlist.

I really have mixed emotions about the awards show FFG rendition. While Stevie appeared a little nervous, and later admitted that she was totally nervous after seeing Warren Beatty (I think) in the audience, I still think a lot of the trouble was the microphone. There was definitely too much bass pouring out of that microphone, because if you listen to her thank the audience after the song, it's really low and REALLY muffled sounding. Then she goes to Sheryl's mic to talk about her award and it sounds much clearer. So while I think she had some butterflies, I blame a lot of it on the mic or the mixing of that mic or whatever it would be. Still a good performance, imo.

I also think it's important to note that many of us would NOT have complained if she had pulled out all the stops as she claimed she would...we were anxiously awaiting the rarities as the set list was being text messages in....

Also to add that all we know is the setlist, not too much about her PERFORMANCE...Which I'd love to hear some details about...and see some pics...

To be honest with you I was just so glad to have Stevie solo back, I've missed those songs so much, I was thrilled to have EDGE OF 17...ahha...so I guess I'm not as picky as some...but it is definetely noteworthy that she didnt do what she claimed she would do in Vegas....and had she never claimed it to be a "show like nothing I've ever done" I don't think the expectations would have been as high...

With that being said I'm glad she was doing well, reportedly looking great also, and wow to Beauty and The Beast...I've been hoping for that one to come back for years..along with If Anyone Falls...so..

Hey Riss!
For all who are complaining even a little about the setlist without having gone to the show(s), it might just be a bit of a case of sour grapes. Isn't it better to assume the trip to Vegas wasn't worth it when one couldn't or didn't take a chance on the experience which, although may have been a little routine, was still a unique and somewhat intimate performance?
I still wish I had gone.

I agree with David. If I heard that Frontline had Stevie in shackles and was making her do the entire Rock A Little album cover to cover again under slave wages against her will, I'm afraid I'd have to go and see it. Sometimes, an artist just has to buck up and either give a few up to the managment or to the fans.

Did someone mention pre-tour interviews? I have news for some of you...Stevie exaggerates and sometimes outright LIES in interviews. I didn't believe for a minute that she'd be dragging anything substantial out of her vaults for 'the fans'. :sorry:

I think that to criticize her for the setlist is like trying to dry the sea. In my opinion she likes to put in some new songs but at the same time wants to feel safe and doesn't want to disappoint the large majority of the fans who probably love to listen to Dreams and Landslide for the eightieth time. I understand that this could make grumpy the most educated music conoisseurs elite among FM & Stevie fans but I'm sure they can survive. ;) I'm glad the people who were there had a great time.

hiya, I've been lurking around (go on, hate me for it...*grin) and reading all this posts, and I'm not even sure this is the right thread to post it in but....
Everyone is totally entitled to their opinion. Here's mine..I'm 20 years old and have been loving Stevie and FM for about three years. I've never been able to see either perform live. I could never go to Vegas, I could never afford to travel so far for a concert. Hell, its costing as much as I have to go to Wolverhampton to see a tribute band. I think there are a lot of fans out there like me, too young to have seen Stevie much before, and if I did get to go and she didnt perform the classics, I'd die a million tiny deaths. Not because I'm a casual fan (whatever that means) but because there's a reason that they are the most famous, they're mostly the best. (Again, everyone is entitled to their opinion.)
I know its easy to get sick of seeing the same things, especially since she hyped it up sooo much in the interviews, but there might not be many oppurtunities to see Stevie perform live anymore for a lot of people. I think theres an element of 'for the fans' in doing the best possible performances she is able to do, and I'm sure they were, of the songs the majority of people know and love.
I'm not trying to say people shouldnt express dissatisfaction with the setlist, of course not. But I'd still see a kidney if I thought it'd get me to Vegas by saturday.
Love, Nicki

Just think how gutted you would feel if she announced she was no longer gonna tour beacause all the fans were bitching her songs!!!!! i can see how you would be disapointed, but give her a break.

The vast majority of people bashing it were not there. That's the problem. I really think if people could experience it they would agree with the vast majority of actual attendees that the show was well worth the price of admission.

I don't think anyone should have to justify why they're disappointed in the setlist or why they didn't, did or couldn't go to Las Vegas. As I've said a few times today, the thread last night unfolded over a 2 hour period, one song at a time, with the first 10 songs being the oldies. Stevie hyped it as a certain type of show, some fans had high expectations about what was going to be performed. It's really not so difficult to understand.

The implication and suggestion that it's jealousy, sour grapes or other shallow remarks that have been thrown out today are really uncalled for and paint the people who posted in an unfair light. I have a hard time believing that the people who couldn't go would have sat here for a few hours last night and voiced such disappointment with the setlist because they were jealous and this was their way to express that? They were disappointed. They couldn't see it from the perspective of the fan sitting in that fabulous venue with Stevie singing her heart out and hearing Landslide for the 20th/50th time. There were also people who posted in that thread who are going to see Stevie in Vegas this week, are they jealous too?

It would be nice for people to understand that different fans have different preferences and different priorities in their life about how they make a decision about whether or not to make an expensive trip to Vegas to see Stevie. Is it really difficult to respect their opinion and decision, whether you agree or disagree with it and not judge them because of their decision not to see this show, even if it was based on the setlist.

We know that there are a variety of fans with a variety of tastes and preferences when it comes to Stevie and FM songs and setlists. What makes one fan happy, makes another unhappy. There are a few artists I follow that mix up their set list from night to night. I'm sure even though some of us say we'd like it if FM or Stevie did that, if we weren't there for the BAB night and were there for HAEWAFY night, we'd be disappointed if that were our only show or we missed it.

As I've said a few times today, the thread last night unfolded over a 2 hour period, one song at a time, with the first 10 songs being the oldies. Stevie hyped it as a certain type of show, some fans had high expectations about what was going to be performed. It's really not so difficult to understand.

and so on........

very well said!

You explained it vividly and I respect your opinion but I still don't understand the point. Isn't the important thing that those in Vegas are having a great time according to the reviews, that the concert works? What's the fun in this setlist dissection without having listened to the music? JMO of course.

The only reason we dissected it as precisely (okay, anally) as we did, is because we were learning it in real time, as it was being played. I guess it was the closest thing to being there - except we weren't hearing it. I can tell ya, it was pretty fun at the time. And again, I'll reiterate (how's that for redundancy?), never did I have an angry or bitter bone in my body over it.

I read the thread as a whole this morning, not knowing about the "real time" posting of setlist last night.

I thought it was hilarious and looked like fun. Made for a great read this morning.

I would have had the same reaction to the setlist, coming song by song, without the benefit of being at the show.

Of course I would have had a much different reaction had I been there (although I would still be wondering what exactly Stevie was talking about in all these interviews).

I'm also enjoying reading the reviews of people who were actually there.

I don't know...it all seems like appropriate internet discussion board stuff...some humor, some dissing, good info, lots of banter among people who know one another, at the end of the day we all love Stevie or we wouldn't be here.

I personally loved the show. I thought she sounded great, and had a lot of energy. JMO though. I could be biased by my stevie worship! Even my hubby, who is not a fan, thought it was good.

Yes, it is important that the people at the shows are having a fabulous time and love the music and performance. If some fans who are not going to the shows want to discuss the setlist, and if that means voicing disappointment in her choice of songs, who cares? The same way some threads about some topics appeal to some fans and others aren't interested. I don't think you had to be at the show or going to the show to be interested in or want to discuss the setlist. Why should they be made to feel badly for voicing their opinion or told they're jealous of the fans at the shows

I don't understand how this got blown so out of proportion, it's not like this is the first time fans on this site have ever voiced disappoinment in a setlist, song, performance or anything having to do with this band or one of its members. I hope that answered your question;)

I understand that this could make grumpy the most educated music conoisseurs elite among FM & Stevie fans but I'm sure they can survive. ;) I'm glad the people who were there had a great time. You might just be the most elite of the elite. Far more than most others I know here, you have the ability to lob little digs, little pearls of sarcasm dripping with scoff, while in the same keystroke aligning yourself with the populace by blandly mouthing the hope that "the people who were there had a great time." Thumbs up.

Do the people who bash other fans in subtle, sly ways actually think that those fans can't recognize it? or that it somehow puts them on the moral high ground because it's all done with a smiley, a wink & a grin?

Are you kidding? We all know the moral high ground is only for one and that the place is taken.

To all the others who have been gracious enough not to talk about my morality: if it wasn't clear from my posts, I was kidding without any secret intention to bash or offend anyone; I try not to do it in everyday life and I've never thought it could be smart to do it on a message board.

The HORDE Festival was one of my favorite shows by him. Also, I saw him in the late 80's and the show was incredible.

He played Bass Concert Hall here on campus a few years back supporting, I believe it was "Hawkes and Doves." I missed it of course  but some friends of mine went and said it was a stripped down acoustic kind of set that was just amazing. I'd kind of like to see Neil with Crazy Horse though. "Cinnamon Girl" and "Rocking in the Free World" would be worth the price of admission imo.

Think commercially....it's not about what the fans want it's about how much these shows are going to make...the casual fans that catch the shows will want to hear all the Stevie staples in the set lists....lets say that for commercial purposes....risks will not be taken with the money and for that matter with the set list..... :blob1:

I agree - she looked a little nervous in the beginning but over came that - I did not like the sur VIVE note as I thought it was off key, but many kidos to her for rocking that dog and pony show :D

quote from petep9000 " I have news for some of you...Stevie exaggerates and sometimes outright LIES in interviews. I didn't believe for a minute that she'd be dragging anything substantial out of her vaults for 'the fans". This has been the case for years but at least in the past she had the excuse of being under the influence of mind altering substances. What is her alibi now? I'm afraid I 'll have to go by the old saying "Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me" when deciding if I'll attend any future shows. If by a very slight chance she ever does do something spontaneous or adventerous again then i'll think about revising my opinion.

I disagree. I do not think she lies and I would like for someone to point out a lie. I know she says songs are about different things, but it is possible that they are and she is being consistent. As for this show, I think she tried out a bunch of stuff and deceided for a myriad of possible reasons that it could not work, one of which she did not have the time to rehearse it or would not take the time to do so AND - she added four older songs she has not done in around 15 or more years and she hauled out different outfits, etc. Also, she never said, "I am performing SOTM" or some other song; she said she may, which is not a promise. So, I cannot say she lied and neither can you :wavey:

On edit - the "I cannot say she lied and neither can you :wavey: " - was meant in jest a la a nanny nanny boo boo

Well, I have never seen Stevie live yet, never got the chance to. (Living in Austria sometimes just isn't easy.) I am dying to see her live, so I don't really care what songs she sings, but that is just my opinion. I just feel very sad for not being able to see her, and I've been in a bad mood the entire last week just because I was thinking of the Vegas concerts and how great they're going to be and I'm not able to be there. (I am happy for the fans who are able to see her, though. :D ) It's just very depressing for me, but oh well.

I'd venture to say though, that it's a little easier for Lindsey to impress people with his setlists, because he has toured so very rarely.

Just curious as to why you don't have the ability to see Stevie Live.

In response to all of the posts. When I first heard that she was playing Las Vegas I didn't really care because I knew I never could afford to go. Then when the Don Henly tour came about i was psyched for the TO show. When it was cancelled and all of the stuff sorounding the Las Vegas Happend (Jim Ladd interview etc) it made me hyped about going that I was willing to sell my ticket to see U2 in concert in my hometwown of Ottawa just to see her. U2 hasn't been here since march of 1985 so that was a big deal. But becuse of ertain laws in Ontario Canada I couldn't sell my ticket for ore then I paied so I had to suck it up that I wasn't going. After seeig the setlist I am disaponited that it turned out to be the same old same old. Still since I have never seen her live before( Going to Philadelphia) I am gald to say that I will get to hear any of her solo songs live. My only gripe is that I wish she would rop the FM songs beacuse If she did then maybe she might be willing to peerform some lesser known songs.

You all mention Neil Young but what about Melissa Etheridge? When I saw her last fall in Ottawa at her two shows the difrence in the setlist was 9 songs in a set list that ranged from about 18 songs to 21 songs per night. True she opened and closed her sets with the same songs but in between you never knew what she would play. Even Tori Amos concerts seem catered to die hard fand as she plays alot of b sides and rarities /cover songs.

Just my two cents worth.

You're right...I saw Tori in Atlanta on 04-04-05...and the next night she only played a total of 4 of the same songs she played in Atlanta, out of 19...so thats a 15 song difference in one night...she does that every night...

with that being said...shes not Stevie..and Stevie does NOT do that..and ive accepted it and im ok with it

In certain regions in the States we had similar laws, the way we use to get around it was "Selling a number 2 pencil for $200. Get FREE U2 ticket to first person who buys it!". So, in essense you aren't SELLING the ticket, you are SELLING a pencil, and giving the ticket away for FREE. No law against that. :D

I have not read this thread, mostly because I do not want anything to tarnish the fantastic memories I have of the first two shows. I think anyone who was disappointed could not have been there in person. I would be shocked if someone who attended said they were disappointed in any grand way. Maybe a bit because she did not do a certain song or whatever but what she did do was certainly unique in many ways and the new things were incredible.
BatB was more of a theatrical performance and I have never seen her do anything that powerful quite honestly. I do not cry easily and I was sobbing both nights just from her beauty alone. The atmosphere was spell binding, her cloak, the movie..the way the theatre was completely silent the first night. I mean you could have heard a pin drop. She was dramatic and extremely moving and for me, it was worth the entire expense of the trip JUST to see that. I cant imagine her doing this song this summer because it was very Vegasy and she walked out in time to the movie..down a long ramp....plus Lori was a huge part of the song and who knows if she is touring this summer...I doubt it. The second night one man pretty much tried to ruin the song for her and the fans around him by repeatedly screaming....."SING IT FOR ME STEVIE". That is on several of the audios I have heard from the shows so far. It was so aggravating..I had to tell him to shut up. I sincerely hope it was no one from this board because it was ridiculous.

However, the guy a few rows behind him may have won the prize for biggest A-hole. At one point (can't remember which song, it was pretty early, I'm SURE we'll be able to hear it on the boots though), he screamed "I love you, you sexy woman." OK, I can handle that. Then comes:

Since you are not reading this thread and coming into it rather late, it's not fair to call people pathetic, especially since they didn't see the show and were only reading the thread expecting a lot of rare gems to be performed.

Many of us have posted that the people who went must have had a fabulous time and being there is different from reading a setlist on a message board after all the hype, and being in that theater seeing that same show performed.

Glad you were able to go and have such a fabulous time!

FYI that post is not from me...it was Kelly logged in on my name in the hotel room.

However, not to drudge things up because it seems people have finally calmed down...why the hell does anyone care if you didn't spend money on the show?? Those that went, paid money to see a show and frankly, I wasn't expecting her to whip out the oldies that she was talking about. It was an opportunity for me to get the hell out of Jersey for a few days, hang out with some really cool people and see Stevie. If anyone should be bitching, it should be the people that went there and notice that we aren't. It was an amazing amazing show and her voice is possibly the strongest it's been in a long time. Not to mention, she's lost a good 15 pounds and looks more energized and happier than ever.

Over the years Stevie has made a lot of promises for rarities in setlists, etc. and ends up not performing them out of nervousness, etc. This is what she does. She hasn't changed in 30 years and she sure as hell isn't going to start now. When she said she might do Talk To Me, she didn't say she WOULD she said she MIGHT. It's not as though she said, oh yea, this is going to be in the setlist. Perhaps they tried a few of the songs at rehearsals and they didn't translate as well as she wanted them to or she didn't feel like she was strong enough on them so she decided not to perform the songs.

Also keep in mind, she wasn't betting on her diehards to fly across the country to see her (but I will tell you...she was happy we were there and singing along). She had to bet on the fact that people that aren't hardcore fans were going to come and see her and at $191 per ticket at the highest price, she's got to give them something too. If that means having to hear Rhiannon, Dreams, Landslide and Stand Back for the millionth time, so be it. I was not and am not dissapointed by her choice in songs. With her setlist only running 84 minutes, she did pretty damn well IMO. If I had been able to take off of work today and tomorrow, I more than likely would have stayed out there and tried to catch her at least once more. She did not dissapoint.

I just wanted to say that I got back from Vegas yesterday and I had a great time! It was very cool to meet everyone from the board and have such a big get together. Normally we don't have such an opportunity for everyone to come and hang out as a group.

And Stevie was awesome too. I can say I was initially a little disappointed because I thought the show was going to be more creative but she sounded and looked great and really seemed to be having a good time, especially on Wed. And even though she played her usual songs, I still love them and I could hear her sing them a thousand times and I would still be mesmorized. And BATB was amazing. I have never been a fan of that song but she really put her heart into it and did an outstanding performance. I know she said that she was going to really make these Vegas shows special and even though they didn't end up as different as we thought they were going to be, I think she did honestly try. BATB was certainly a theatrical effort and she herself says it's scary to do new things so I think just for her putting in a few songs she hasn't done in awhile is probably a lot for her. I am just thankful that I have the opportunity to see her perform and enjoy her for what she is.

Over the years Stevie has made a lot of promises for rarities in setlists, etc. and ends up not performing them out of nervousness, etc. This is what she does. She hasn't changed in 30 years and she sure as hell isn't going to start now.As evidenced by the fact that she brings essentially the same guys & ladies out in her band year after year. Carlos, for example -- it seems to be a permanent gig for him at this point. It's too bad I never really paid much attention to his playing; is he a case of "too much technique" or even "too good"? Not enough quirk to make a lasting mark as a rock guitarist. He could probably fill in for similar acts, like Bette Midler, etc. That sort of act demands a player who can really blend in. What a lot of people who bashed her performance at the nightclub with Sheryl Crow seem not to have noticed is that, despite her being drunk or something, she sounded good in relation to the band because it was a small band with a minimal amount of hardware in use (compared with Fleetwood Mac last year or Stevie Nicks this year). I still say that's how she sounds best live. Even if she's all over the place tonally or whatever, the balance of her voice & the band behind her is an equipoise, & it's the best for live performance.

Really? You & Kelly roomed together? What is she like? I picture her as being sort of no-nonsense (I guess that would be little-nonsense) & tuned in. Who else roomed with you two?

Kelly and I roomed together with two of our friends who don't post on this board (Lindsay and Kandace). Kelly is, without a doubt, no nonsense. If she allows me and if i'm able, i'll post pictures later but I like to get the okay from everyone first.

I wonder what Stevie is doing to lose weight. What's her regimen?

I tend to think she's lost weight just by being in a better place in her life. There were times on the SYW tour I thought she seemed really stressed. She seems to be incredibly happy and just really at peace from the way she performed the two times i've seen her in the past week.

Yea sorry I posted without logging you out Riss...I see you had to take some heat. :sorry: Too many cocktails and too little sleep the night before!!!. :p
I agree about Stevie's weight. She looks fabulous, glowing actually... and her two birds of Rhiannon are much smaller. :o

I just watched my clips of BatB and How Still My Love and am crying again. Jeez Louise. She looks absolutely breathtaking. The intensity of HSML is pretty striking as well. Wednesday's night show was pure perfection. (except the missed Eo17 cue.....poor Sharon, Lori and whats her name again?)

He's always been in the "rhythm guitar" position...never heard him do a lead or a solo in the 11 years I've heard him play (either with Stevie or FMac). He doesn't rank very high on my list of guitarists...oh, wait...he's not even ON my list.

Personally, with all the musicians she supposedly knows, I think she could find better musicians to employ for her touring band. Such as...just get TP & The Heartbreakers (plus Waddy Wachtel) to back her for a full concert...if Dylan can do it, Stevie can, too.

Or, just get the best of the folks who've toured with her over the years:

Russ Kunkel, drums
Bob Glaub, bass
Benmont Tench & Brett Tuggle, keyboards
Waddy Wachtel & Rick Vito, guitars
Lenny Castro, percussion

and, of course, Sharon, Lori & Jana on background vocals.

Yes but those people would charge her a whole lot more and it would probably be as cost-effective as hiring Fleetwood Mac as her backing band.

He looks to me a rock but not very exciting or intriguing in his style. Anyway he's a reliable musician and Stevie seems to feel safe having him in the band. I guess for a far more exciting and creative playing style she knows to have always Mr. Buckingham.

Hi there!!! The "Sing It For Me Stevie" guy during BATB and the "Marry Me Stevie guy" unfortunately are the same person and was right in front of me holding up that banner (shirt) basically the whole time during EO17 and after. Quite frustrating.

Since everyone else is, I want to state my opinion on this topic of the setlist and bashing of it....

I understand looking at the song titles in a set list do NOT give you a "feeling" of a show. It is just not the same as being there, using all of your senses to feel the environment. Visually and through the sound. If Stevie did not fullfill your expectations for song choices, you would still be surprised by this show.

I attended the Wednesday show but not the Tuesday show. I saw the setlist for Tuesday before I left for Vegas and was disappointed by the song selection. I was hoping for certain songs like the rest of you were. When I got to the show on Wednesday I was still very excited to see it for myself.

LET ME TELL YOU.....There was not one millisecond, not one, where I wish she would of not performed any of the songs she did. She went all out with EVERYTHING she did. I think she put on a great Vegas show. I could tell she was wanting to make it special for the audience. Not really with her song selection but in performance. There were plenty of casual fans there, more than the number of diehards and even the few casual fans I spoke with were in awe of the energy and the intensity of her performance. These are the people that Caesars Palace want the performers to impress. If Stevie can impress the casual fans and/or casino high rollers, then it tells me that she did fantastic.

I hope those of you who did not have the opportunity to see one of these shows, and who are unhappy with the setlist, will stop publically bashing it and the show until you hear an audio and hopefully video of one of these shows. You will see what I mean and I hope you will have the same reaction to her performance, visually and audibly.

Until then, please accept the setlist for what it is.

I cant understand what he was trying to gain from any of that. Did he think she was going to stop singing, look at him and say "I Do" or even simply stop and smile at him? Or maybe he just wanted to annoy the audience and be heard. Most likely, he annoyed the band too....God, I hope someone can drown the audience noise out of that bootleg and circulate it. I certainly don't want to hear that guy on it.

I had one behind me, the I LOVE YOU STEVIE girl. She said it no less than 30 times during the show. And her friend would yell SHE LOVES YOU STEVIE. Once or twice, okay, but it was completely obnoxious.

OMG! Did you have a purple Stevie-ish top on? I was directly across the aisle from you dancing away. I was so happy to see someone besides us rocking out! If you haven't already seen them, I posted a bunch of pics in the thread "MY take on Vegas" right from our point of view of the stage. Have a look.

Oh, and well said about the setlist. I'm still giddy thinking about the shows. No regrets. None at all.

Hi Paula, no I didn't have a Stevieish shirt on. I had a black dress on with some embroidery on it. I was sitting in section 4 GG but this guy was in front of me when I was standing in the aisle for EO17 like 4-5 rows back from the stage.
I actually met you after the show on Wednesday. I was with Nancy (Sodascouts) and that group. We all went to the Cheesecake Factory. There were soo many people there.

BTW, I saw your photos, they are absolutely great!

One of the casual fans next to me said it nice to sit near people who really get into the concert. I was dancing and singing and the lady kept smiling at me. It was sweet. :)

Lindsey's not afraid to try new things as was evident in his choice of songs for Soundstage.
I left that place with my chin on the floor.
I bet his tickets wouldn't be $150, either.

Sure, go ahead, rub it in. :p

I was at the show on Wednesday evening and Stevie looked gorgeous and sounded great. I was not disappointed at all. This was a last minute trip for us which turned into a family reunion when we got together with his step-father and two sisters and their families when they decided to meet us there. My hubby has to be the best guy in the world to drive (22 hrs-one way) to Vegas and back just so I could have this chance to see Stevie and we got to meet some Ledgies on Tuesday evening at Margaritaville. My hubby is a Jimmy Buffett fan so he enjoyed hanging out there several times this week :D Everyone was so nice to us especially Brian and Jim and made us feel so welcomed even though we were one of the older fans :xoxo: I can't remember everyone's names but it was nice to get together with other fans who love Stevie as much as I do. Thanks! I think everyone that went to the concerts will agree that when Stevie came out for Beauty and the Beast, she was breathtakingly beautiful and this whole week will be something I will never forget. It was a great Mother's Day surprise for me!!!

oh a few things:

GSG/Kelly whoever it was posting: BATB absolutely made the entire trip worth it, now that the boots for that are up, i think the 'disappointeds' will be un-disappointed?

who heard that her voice was a mess? she was in rare form! IMO tuesday's show was the best her voice has ever sounded, hit all the notes spot on. i'm pretty sure she took the high note at the end of FFG (she dropped on wednesday's). everything about her was fabulous, she herself looked great after dropping the SYW road weight. she was all smiles and really enjoyed the worship. she was smooching the mic for heaven's sake! the wardrobe was all variations of the same, but i've never seen her look more spectacular and comfortale with herself. those 'boks, i wasn't surprised... but the leg warmers were a nice touch.

BTFLCHLD: i would rip off my shirt for lindsey too, but i'm sure i might be doing it for different reasons than you? winkity wink...

re: the setlist
jimmy buffett said from the stage once, something like "these next songs are for the Church of Buffett, you know, the people who would hunt me down and kill me if i didn't play these songs..." you will NEVER go to a buffett show and NOT hear Margaritaville, Fins, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and Changes in Lattitudes. and we're all fine with that. it's tit for tat. you hear those songs, and you dearly love those songs, and you love them despite the fact that you've heard them and just really wish he'd play something else.

my only regret is that i didn't sell my soul and stay for the last two shows.

I met Bob Glaub when he was out with John Fogerty the same time Stevie was doing Enchanted.
He told me that Stevie had called him to do her tour but he was already committed to Fogerty and thought that Fogerty's tour would be more fun (his words, not mine).

I am so, so happy to hear that. Honestly, I was one of the people who was getting the set list in real time, and I was sooooo disappointed for everyone who had sacrificed so much to be there. So I am SO happy and relieved and, I don't know, just SO SO happy for you guys that it was so well worth the trip. I haven't been able to read the reviews yet because I've had someone in town with me the past two days, but as soon as i have the time, I will be sitting down to take them all in.
