Do any of you go to the buckinghamnicks.net board? Matthew Anderson (Kim and Robin's son) posted! His user name is curtaincallpromo. Who knows if it is really him, but people would have to be really low to lie. It is exciting though! :)

Romy
When I went there twice - it happened both times. People did seem pretty well informed, but they all were, I think, 12 or something? And when one of their freinds came in, and a bunch of other times, they would start squealing at each other and quoting lyrics. And I know I'm not the only one that happened to! I'm glad you had a different experience, Romy

People lie on the internet? Surely you jest! ;) Who knows if it's him or not... but there are always people willing to lie and string fans along. I remember when I was new to the internet some guy IM'd me and claimed he was Stevie's toyboy. Oh and that he was also shagging Meg Ryan, Nicole Kidman and the Dixie Chicks! heh

I know - and I feel bad if this guy is who he says he is - though he has another member of that board vouching for him  I just hate that people that pose as others (not that this guy is doing that) are so bored with their own lives that they have to make light of other peoples' interestes. AND - that sadly makes people suspicious.

Chris

Yikes. Retract the claws for a sec.

Manders is a real person; I met her last year at one of the shows. She posts on another board under the same username. She's just a normal fan like the rest of us. Except that she is also clearly a good friend - as she actually went to the effort of joining this board just to stand up for her friend, Matthew. What would she gain by posting to a bunch of strangers that she knows him?

ShangriLaTroubl
02-17-2005, 09:40 PM
Well the point is what makes this person (whom I have never met, I'm glad you have--good for you!) make it any more believable? Just because someone creates a username and says "Hey I know Matthew it's really him," we are all supposed to go OOH OK , NEVERMIND THEN.. lol seriously

It very well could be him now, I'm not saying that...He should've went through Marty or something though, to actually be believed..

Chris

catinthedark
02-17-2005, 09:44 PM
Well, he actually didn't join The Ledge; he joined another board. So I fail to see why he should go through Marty. This thread is about him being on another board.

And I'm not sure why the sarcasm about me knowing Manders. I was just saying that she didn't just create that user name over here to vouch for him. She's had that user name for quite some time on another board.

Anyway, believe him or don't believe him. He's not posting here anyway, so what's the problem?

ShangriLaTroubl
02-17-2005, 09:51 PM
I wasn't being sarcastic actually...And what I was saying is she CREATED that screen name on THIS board just to vouch for him...which is ok...just a little fishy, when trying to vouch for someone...

I'm aware that this thread is about him posting on another board, whoever this HE really is...but I was just saying that since real and credible people who actually have connections to the band have posted here, and done various things with this site--it would just be more believable.

and, again, we have been burned here and elsewhere before. So, the skeptcism is not really a personal thing against him - it is just being gun shy. When we asked you how you knew someone that knew Stevie, you wouldn't tell us either. You might not remember that whole can of worms on the the Mick board, though. It just seems like everytime someone asks you a question about how you know someone, you never have an answer. Just seems weird.

Perhaps she didn't want to reveal who it was because she wanted to make certain that it was OK first. Now that Matthew feels comfortable speaking (and it is him), she can talk freely and Matthew can do as he likes and has chosen to talk to everyone. I can't blame her for not revealing who it was. Some people on the internet and this fandom are strange. Had she said she had a degree of separation from Stevie, people would have been all over her like white on rice; inundating her with a ton of questions.

Welcome to The Ledge, Mandy :wavey:

That's cool - and totally respectable. Some people on the board choose to be more private about certain things because - hey this is the internet afterall - and as Marissa said - there are some strange and very zealous people out there.

That said - I once met a girl who was a friend of a friend of Matthews - that girl was the cousin of a friend of mine lol...we talked about it the night I met her then out of respect for all involved parties I never contacted her again - and now I can't think of her name to save my life...but since she's the cousin for a friend I shall e-mail and ask :p

For what it's worth, I also remember Mandy posting on Mick's board a lot, although I haven't been there in months. And on mandersv user info you can see that she registered like 6 months ago, not just to "vouch" that Matt is who he says he is.

Exactly. I can already imagine the blizzard of inane and invasive questions that have been foisted on this guy.

"Stevie is sleeping with Lindsey, isn't she!!??? Isn't she!!?!?"

or

"I sent Stevie a five page letter telling her how much she's changed my life and I've just gotta meet her- did she get my letter??!!??"

or

"When was the last time you saw Stevie?? Where is she living now??!??!"

or

"Ohmigaw, a friend of mine, like, talked to one of Stevie's bodyguards and he gave her her phone number, and I, like, called the number and she answered and I swear it was her, but, like, I was too scared to say anything, so I, like, hung up on her- can you tell me if 602-555-1234 is her phone number??"

I don't think anyone is saying Matthew is wrong by doing this - but we're just wondering if he realizes the massive number of chiffon-heads who may now contact him with many many questions -some of which just cross lines between normal fandome and unhealthy obsession

He showed up on the board when bits and pieces of your story were mentioned. I PM'd him what you had posted here because he was curious. We PM'd each other a few times talking about USC because I just applied there for Music Industry and Public Relations and ironically, so did he (for Music Industry). This went on for a day and a half and the last thing I said to him was, "you're braver than I am posting your IM name. Watch out for the crazies." He replied back with, "I can always change my screen name." I think he's more than aware

I talked to him once. I didn't ask him any questions about Stevie...and I would probably be considered a "chiffon head". Someone contacted me about sending him the rumours outtakes so he can see video footage of Robin, so IMEd him, got his address and sent them on there way. So yes, we aren't all out to dig up dirt on Stevie and get her phone number, connections, ect... I was just happy to send him the footage of his mom considering he's never even heard her voice.

Well, he is pretty young.

There needs to be a special emoticon for that one.

Wow--that's so sad. I'm glad you were able to pass those outtakes on to him of Robin.

Stevie has plenty of fans who would treat someone like Matthew with respect and sensitivity.

Unfortunately, as with all groups of people, there is a small faction of folks who exhibit less than admirable behaviour in a very loud and noticeable way, and the rest of Stevie's fans get stereotyped in the process.

Hopefully Matthew will encounter far more of the former than he does the latter. :)

Is everyone who posts on the BN board considered "rabid, chiffon heads"? Just curious.

Perhaps he visited the Ledge, scanned the numerous threads regarding Stevie's Mac truck ass, her ugly shoes, bland hair, matronly clothes, pancake makeup, lack of energy, her terrible lyrics on SYW, her miserable attempts at singing Rhiannon this tour and decided he would RATHER post at the BN board?

I agree, he has opened himself up to potential problems by posting and there are some really immature fans around. I think it is ridiculous and embarrassing that so many young fans have PM'd him....I am sure that will drive him away pretty quickly. (not you Riss or Beck)

Thank you, Johnny. And I might add that it's not necessary to be disrespectful to all of us by lumping everyone in with those who lack the judgement and maturity to control themselves and behave in a less than obnoxious way. I won't pretend those people don't exist, but it would be nice to hear some qualifiers when they are discussed, such as "some rabid fans" or "those fans who..."

I too think it's odd that Matthew has welcomed IMs from anyone and everyone in Stevieland. I can only imagine that he might be lonely or wanting some positive attention or just having some fun with being a minor celebrity for a while. Whatever his motives, I hope he gets what he wants.

And no, Kelly, not everyone who posts on the bn board is a "rabid chiffon head." But you know, I'm not so sure there's anything wrong with being a chiffon head anyway...it's the "rabid" part I have a quarrel with. :)

Did anyone say that the chiffon head description only fit the members of BN...many of whom post here at the Ledge? From what I've seen over the years, that term is used quite freely by many fans and I've never seen it used to only fit the shipper community. Is there sensitivity on the BN board about that term?

Perhaps he visited the Ledge, scanned the numerous threads regarding Stevie's Mac truck ass, her ugly shoes, bland hair, matronly clothes, pancake makeup, lack of energy, her terrible lyrics on SYW, her miserable attempts at singing Rhiannon this tour and decided he would RATHER post at the BN board?

Perhaps Mathew visited the BN message board and loved the way Stevie is portrayed in this deep affair with a married man and how they can't keep their hands off each other or their feelings under control, even in the presence of his wife and children. Maybe he's drawn to the bashing of Mrs.Buckingham's appearance and the threads portraying her as nothing but a baby machine who traps her husband again and again. Of course, I'm leaving out the riveting threads where the paternity of the Buckingham children was discussed and how they might not be Lindsey's. Of course there was also some discussion about Stevie being their biological mother, that was riveting reading and one of the best theories I've ever read about their post Dance relationship. I could go on but you get the idea.

Perhaps Mathew didn't stick around the Ledge long enough and see all the good conversation in the thousands of threads here that aren't pointing out Stevie's problems Fans seem to find the boards they feel most comfortable reading or posting. If Mathew would RATHER stay over at BN because he feels more comfortable there or likes the shipper aspect and the other great things about the BN board, who cares? The Ledge can be intimidating to many people and some jump right in and others lurk for a long time and never post but read this board. From what I saw a few months ago, Mathew first surfaced on Mick's site wanting to contact him and Mandy pointed him in the right direction. He didn't choose to stay at that site and he found BN more appealing for one reason or another.

I think most people reading this board can see there are far more fans here who adore Stevie then people who truly don't care for her. Since this site is a FM site and not a SN site it's only natural that some fans wouldn't like Stevie the same way some don't care for Lindsey. It's not really that big a deal and for the most part, the Ledge would be pretty boring if there was only mass adulation for the members of FM and no one was ever able to openly criticize what they see as some of their shortcomings. I think that was the feeling over at Mick's site when the heavy handed management wouldn't allow any negative comments or discussions about band members or management and removed the posts. I think the diversity here at the Ledge has something to do with its success. I would think at one time or another most of us have gotten tired of some of the Stevie bashing, I know I have. When any discussion takes a turn that I'm tired of reading for the 1000th time, I just stop reading that thread.

You can paint any board with the same brush you're using. I've seen you post numerous times on the BN board putting down the people on the Ledge and the Ledge board itself. I've seen you post on one board here knocking the people who post on some other boards on this site. I don't see a lot of other people doing that here at the Ledge.

I agree, he has opened himself up to potential problems by posting and there are some really immature fans around. I think it is ridiculous and embarrassing that so many young fans have PM'd him....I am sure that will drive him away pretty quickly. (not you Riss or Beck)

I'm glad you're giving Marissa and Becky a thumbs up and that you don't paint them with the brush you're using to portray other people who might have contacted Mathew. I'm sure their motives are totally pure and its nice for you to stand up for them.......even though you don't know what motives others might have had. I haven't read the threads at BN about this but it seems from the posts in this thread that Mathew went out of his way to give out his contact info and was interested in fans contacting him. It doesn't surprise me that many fans with different motives are contacting him, its a fan community and that's what usually happens. To tell you the truth, I find it even funnier to see a few very special fans who chase anyone they even suspect might have contact with anyone associated with the band, I can't believe they don't realize how obvious their motives seem to people watching it and to use your word...how ridiculous they look. But they keep right on doing it, I hope all their hard works pans out one day, it would be a shame to see all that time and energy they put into their pursuits not get them their dreams. Sometimes I feel sorry for their unsuspecting targets who don't realize they're being used by these people and what their real motives are.

Some of us are glad there's a diverse group of FM related message boards but no one board is ever going to appeal to or not annoy every FM fan. I'm assuming since you post at both the BN board and the Ledge you find interesting things about both boards.

Stevie has far more fans here then people realise. When I did that poll last year about who was everyone's favourite member of the Mac, Stevie received far more votes than any other member. She is clearly the most popular member even here. There are only a few Ledgies who don't like her, although they're often the most vocal. I agree the criticism can get out of hand, but the debate is what keeps things lively and interesting around here. In fact there hasn't been enough of it recently. I have to admit seeing a thread titled "Stevie's best use of the word 'well' in a song" doesn't exactly excite me.

Wow, that is weird considering that Stevie must have a lot of that footage herself. I mean she's known to videotape her sessions in the studio so she must have lots of stuff from the early days with Robin on it. I'm surprised she hasn't shown any of this to Matthew.

I thought it was a little strange, too. He said he asked both Mick and Stevie, and they said they both had footage, but didn't know where it was or it was in storage or something. Being that it was recorded 25+ years ago, this could be true. That or maybe she didn't want him to see it? The other thing about the whole Matthew "connection" to Stevie... Stevie married Kim when Matthew was an infant. They divorced, like, how many months later? And then she saw neither of them for years and years. I tend to doubt he really thinks of Stevie as his "stepmother" or really, anything else besides his late mother's best friend. I think any of the rabid fans who think talking to him and getting close to him is going to get them some deep, hidden inside juice on Stevie will be sadly mistaken. My guess is he knows her, has met her a few times, but is hardly a "close" family member. You know?

Its sad to see someone cozying up to him having seen them do this with half a dozen other people, who have no other worth to someone other than their connection (or possible connection) to a band member or someone in the industry. I have no idea whether he has any juice about Stevie , or if there is indeed any juice to be had:) but it seems he does tell some fans some information about her and some fans would kill for any information about her or to know someone close to her. Its sad to see someone cozying up to him having seen them do this with half a dozen other people, who have no other worth to someone other than their connection (or possible connection) to a band member or someone in the industry. It's quite pathetic, and so calculated you could throw up.

Wow, people must look really tiny from up there. ;)

No, sorry if it came off that way. It's just sad when you see a pattern of behavior from a few people using other people and the calculated way they go about it. I can't believe what some fans will do to get close to people connected to the band or industry. The only amusement is watching them chase people who have absolutely no connection to the band. Watching them deceive innocent trusting people who don't know their motives is just plain sad. I have no idea whether Mathew knows or doesn't know that people are doing this, or if he's able to distinguish who is true and who is not. Hopefully he can.

It was sad because they totally believed they had a right to know and that calling her or badgering the band's management about it was absolutely normal. They were not going to stop persuing it until they found out what the band thought of their cards and gifts.

Right? The thing that disturbed me on top of that was the fact that this chick just COULD NOT see that what she and her friends did was strange or wrong...that was totally sad....and yes - folks like that totally give us "normal folk" a bad

I have to wonder if these people seriously think that actions like that are going to get them anywhere but in a court being handed a restraining order

I would never feel comfortable asking some guy I don't even know about Stevie but if others do, knock your socks off. I'm fairly certain he's 22 or 23. I think he can figure it out. Perhaps he's getting one big laugh out of it. I'm sure he's able to discern from the crazies. It's not that hard ~*~

Hopefully he can, I wish the same; but I think people that behave like that as fans are the same who behave (or would like to behave) like that in everyday life, in their relationships with family, friends or at work. A fan community is a micro universe, I don't find so disconcerting to find also here a small percentage of them, we're all represented. :D

Crazy is a subjective word when it comes to fans:) Seriously, the people I was talking about are all around in and very prominent in the FM online world and would not be classified as crazies. What they do is very calculated and very manipulative. Savvy sharp fans who have been around for ages have been taken in by what they've done, so I'm not so sure Mathew would know what they were up to.

Based on what WildInTheWind posted above and what I've heard he's told some fans, I'm not so sure he would be aware what some fans are really looking for. They're not obvious about it and go out of their way to make it appear they're not getting to know you and cozying up to you just for your contacts with FM or the industry.

Well if he still talks to Stevie (as he's said he does) and these savvy sharp fans are getting their dirt from unreliable yet believable sources, what would the point be in talking to Matthew when he probably wouldn't spill anything they'd want to hear anyway? He seems to have his head on straight. I tend to think he wanted to find out a little more about his mother because I wonder how much she was discussed while he was growing up.

I'm sure that's true and considering that Mick or Stevie couldn't give him those wonderful videos with his mother I would imagine it must have great for him to get them from the fan from this thread who sent them. Perhaps telling Stevie he's seen those will spur her to put someone to work finding all the other great films she has of his mother. After all, what is she saving them for? If digging them out for Mathew to see his mother isn't the best reason possible, I don't know what would be.

Sorry, I assumed your "taken in" was getting taken for a ride with unreliable information (i.e. "dirt") from said calculated and manipulative fans. Then again, some people that have psuedo connections to the band are quite quick to make statements alluding to the fact they know someone or something, are quick to defend and often at times just as rabid with their opinions and statements as those who believe these incredible lies. They make it their quest to rectify the injustices they see occuring. I think you misunderstood what I meant. The people being taken for the ride (savvy longtime fans) are the ones who do have a connection to the band and don't realize the fans who want to get close to and befriend them are really only interested in who they might know and what that might mean to them in terms of information or access to industry or band members. Hope that clarifies it.

I don't remember her specifically saying cell phone number and Lindsey's home number was floating around out there a while back so its totally possible that her and her lunatic friends did have it. From the way she recalled the calls going down, I totally believed those idiots called more than once. The incredible lunatic factor (although there were many) was that they didn't think anything they did was wrong until people started jumping on her saying it was. Even then it took some convincing for her to even start back tracking her story and making it seem like they didn't do it.

Hey, anyone who would post that hotel chasing insane review and be proud of it, would have no qualms about callling Lindsey's home and posting about it. She was very disappointed that Mick didn't answer the Q&A questions because she was still determined to get an answer about their gifts and cards. She could only see how her need to know overshadowed everything else.

No doubt Stevie has MANY fans here at the Ledge, some of her most devoted fans are the very ones who criticize or just joke or tease about her from time to time...they can take it...they dont cry when someone says Stevie's butt is a little big, they laugh...because they know they love Stevie...it's weird, but true..

Don't come here talking about us being crazy when wasn't it the BN Board who had the thread about Stevie REALLY being Jessica Nicks' mother, and she gave her to Lori and Chris to hide the pregnancy--and thats why she was REALLY big in the early 90s..I mean cmon...

Let's not throw all "shippers" into the deluded ~*~wyndchild~*~ basket, either. Much like things that are posted on this board aren't necessarily the entire groups belief, same goes for there as well. Wow. There's quite a lot to this thread and I can't even begin to try to address all of it. But I wanted to say (since this is one of the many subjects) that there are things that offend me everywhere. I get offended when people take the shipper stuff so far that it's utterly disrespectful to Stevie, Lindsey, Kristin, and the children, and I am also offended when people call Stevie fat and insult her mercilessly. I dislike it when people pretend she's perfect and I dislike it when people bash her relentlessly and unnecessarily. There's some of that to be found on many boards, not just BN or The Ledge.

I forgot about how Mick announced that Q&A right after we announced John's, that was sort of funny! Someone over there was checking things out over here. :)

I think we'll get some more from John eventually. Maybe it's more fun for him in small doses. He knows all those questions are sitting here waiting....and I think he did get a kick out of doing it.

Actually on this note of Mick knowing about our site, there's something I keep forgetting to mention: My brother in law worked for a hotel in NY, the hotel where Mick and partner etc stayed when they were in the city promoting Mick's wine (the Hyatt, was it? My BIL is somewhere else now.) My BIL- David Adelson-had a chance to speak w/ a guy in Mick's entourage, and told him "My brother and his wife run a big FM site--Marty Adelson, he runs The Penguin."

The guy perked right up. "The Penguin?! We love that website! We were just talking the other day about fan sites and that one was in the top three!" (I suppose this means 2 are better than us but I can handle that LOL, I know we don't update or market stuff as much as we could...and there are some other great sites out there.) So anyway the guy actually returned to my BIL later w/ a bottle of wine that Mick had signed-- "To Marty, love Mick Fleetwood." I should take a picture of it and show you guys, it's in a nice case in our kitchen above the computer, w/ some other FM stuff.

My BIL did meet Mick briefly, said he was a BIG guy, very imposing, strong handshake. So anyway I'd like to think that Mick know who we are...?

And on the off chance that Mick reads this, the Adelsons say thanks for the wine. :)

Well, he did say it was one of the top three, that didn't mean the other 2 were ahead of you in their view, For all you know they thought the Penguin was the top site....wouldn't be a reach to come to that conclusion  Yes, there are many other great sites but no other FM site has as extensive a collection of information as the Penguin.......that's just a fact!

I also enjoyed her book, and she did have nice things to say about the site. All the credit was appreciated. I think we were a bit hurt though--being that she used a lot of material from us- that the publisher didn't contact us earlier than the release of the book to market it; they just sent info to us along w/ everyone else. Another site then quickly got exclusivity rights to it, which was fine, but now that that time period is over the publisher is sort of wanting us to market the book at this time. Marty had a few choice words about that LOL. I dunno. I guess I'm being immature by not jumping at the chance...petty, perhaps... :sorry:

So that's how the other site ended up with those give away books, I wondered how that happened. Weird that they wouldn't approach your site first since she credited you so many times and was very gracious in her praise of the wealth of information available here. LOL - I'd have the same choice words as Marty. I don't think you're wrong for not doing it unless there's something great in it for you or the site. Even then, I'd probably pass.

I thought WB contacting all the FM sites about the Live in Boston DVD's and not even offering them a free DVD for advertising and promoting the damn thing was beyond low. The DVD costs them a few dollars and they think all the fan sites are just there to help them and they don't have to do the smallest thing in return for asking for a favor.

I'm confused, Cath Carroll didn't lift your Bob Welch interview did she? It seemed she was always refering to your site, and in particular the Ken C Q&A many times throughout the book.

The real travesty was the Leah Furman book. She lifted every bit of information for that book from this site. It was like she printed out the BLA and just copied it. Besides the trashy nature of the book, I don't believe she even had the good grace to credit the site at all.

Although I certainly know that people that adore LB or Stevie or Chris or Mick (anyone out there adore Mick LOL?) would LOVE a nice well-run Q&A w/ those folks just as much as I loved having John, and it makes a me a little sad and frustrated that that's not happened. It could be a nice positive experience for the artist (if done properly) and fun for the fans as well. It makes the people on both ends feel special.

To be fair though I think it does depend on the subject. They can make the whole business difficult and not run as smoothly as Johns did.

The real travesty was the Leah Furman book. She lifted every bit of information for that book from this site. It was like she printed out the BLA and just copied it. Besides the trashy nature of the book, I don't believe she even had the good grace to credit the site at all.
A little credit goes a long way. I know when I gave Bob Brunning additional info when he updated his book it was nice that he gave me a nod for taking the time. At least I could make sure that he had the correct information this time!!

I know Mick is evil, and I understand that, but I like him when he talks on Camera. He's very expressive, and sometimes he makes jokes and laughs, and he generally looks like he's actually trying to tell you something; sometimes he gives somewhat candid information, too. Basically, I find him fairly engaging in those situations. :) Yes, I know, he is evil.

Yes, Mick was told. Mick was told everything Jonathan Todd had done and he did absolutely nothing to change anything. When it was clear he was not going to take any action about what he had been told, Tony called a meeting with the Lindsey, Stevie, John and Mick. As soon as they learned what had happened they insisted Jonathan Todd be fired. Unfortunately, that proved tougher than anything anyone could have imagined. He had an iron clad contract that was almost impossible to break for cause. Eventually they succeeded in firing him.

Those things disappeared from Mick's site almost as fast as the fan club complaints on Mick's chat.

They were as sloppy at removing things as they were at running the fanclub. There was enough left on the site to compile a 72 page report that was presented to the 4 band member and their management. The report documented enough complaints and posts about what happened with the club and those first presales to convince management that the fans were fleeced and mislead by the fanclub, and lied to over and over again by Jonathan Todd and those 2 low life administrators.

Mick kept Jonathan and the 2 low life administrators on running his own site. He never opened up the membership to the people who were thrown out.....not that we'd want to go back, but that was the very least he could have done to acknowledge how badly the FM fans were treated.

If anyone saw the Grammy Awards last week, during U2's acceptance speech.... Larry? took time to apologize to the fans who were screwed during their most recent presale. The band is giving membership refunds (no questions asked) and the band is seriously working on something else to make it up to the fans who were screwed. Sounds just like the way the band members of FM and their management handled things with their fanclub:(

It's the ghost town we predicted it would be. No sign of Jackie or Trinity, and Jonathan only shows up once every 6 months to hawk something for Mick.

I'm thinking back to when that board first got going in the early part of 2003 and they thought they were so much better then the Ledge and every other FM site around.

Exactly! It is also quite ridiculous how anyone who does not find the constant barrage of insults hurled Stevie's way to be funny, is repeatedly told to "lighten up" or "learn how to take a joke". I am a huge Lindsey fan. I adore him as much, if not more than Stevie at times..so I am not a chiffonhead, persay..but I still find the amount of hurtful things said about her upsetting. Saying that is like pissing in the wind though as I will be told to "go worship her some more" or "learn to accept her faults".
Whatever.

There have been some, over the top, quite shocking things said on the BN board. Most of the time those posts are left by young, naive, inexperienced or just plain stupid, fans. There are also some informative, interesting discussions over there and those threads strongly out number the psycho babble. When the post appeared regarding Jessie being SnL's love child, the girl was run off that board as quickly as the newbies and shipper's are run off this one.

Question: I'm a bit slow sometimes on catching on to things :p - why are the linds/stevie romantics called "shippers" and is that even what shipper refers to? :p - I've been wondering this for some time :)

Very true Kelly. I don't see that much of the crazy talk over at the bn forum. Everyonce in awhile it pops up, but I've been on that board for over a year now, and I think there are alot of good disscusions...definatly out-weighing the psyco babble.

Just as the great number of wonderful discussions about Stevie and the fans love for her far here at the Ledge far outweigh a few insults and criticisms by a few members every once in a while.

No one said that the comments don't go over the top sometimes, but it seems there's a huge double standard when it comes to put downs and insulting posts and who is fair game. There are many great things about the BN forum besides the shipper aspect (as I pointed out in my original post) but generalizing and coloring anything with one huge brushstroke isn't fair. It's also not fair to keep blaming the negative comments and over the top discussions and actions on a few young people, but I guess that depends on what someone's opinion of over the top is.

I forgot about the STAR system and your constant reminder to JT and those idiots about how dumb it was. I cant remember, did they take away your stars when you did something wrong?......like that was going to shatter your tiny little world! LOL

Speaking of their dumb system, they all got into a huge fight last year when they were trying to come up with a new system or names for their STAR MEMBERS who had 10,000 or 1 BAZILLION posts. I believe GOD was being considered for the top honor , I dont remember what they settled on, but it was funny watching the moderators still threatening to close down the thread because their GODlike members couldn't agree on something.

To be honest, I really don't know for sure. I always though it had something to do with the presumed ongoing romantic relationship between Stevie and Lindsey. I assumed the term was used for fans who wanted them to be together? NOTE: I really don't know for sure, so this is only a guess or something I assumed so please no flames if I assumed wrong

Whatever.

That's quite the exaggeration. I've never seen anyone told to "go worship her some more" or "learn to accept her faults" on this board. You may not like some of the things said about her, but tough tacos. Not everyone has the same opinions or ways of saying things, and while the discourse can get pretty rough around here, it certainly isn't anywhere near as bad as you make it out to be. Aren't you the one who got upset because another poster said Stevie "croaked" Rhiannon? Oy, save your great offense for meaningful things, not the vocals of a fiftysomething singer.

I used to think a lot more of Mick. It's a shame the whole Jonathan Todd fiasco tarnished it somewhatI've always considered Mick a bit of a dufus personally -- venal, irresponsible & misguided -- but he's always been my favorite drummer in rock & roll, & I'm practically grateful that he was Fleetwood Mac's drummer all these years based on musical reasons alone (that plus the fact that it's kind of cool to have such a tall drummer in your band). I would not have fallen so deeply in love with Fleetwood Mac's music had it not been for his propulsive, pared-down attack on the skins. That is as much a part of the signature Mac sound as anything else.

And it's always been my theory that Mick's height & body frame play an integral role in his sound, just like Christine's physical characteristics influence her style.

To be honest, I really don't know for sure. I always though it had something to do with the presumed ongoing romantic relationship between Stevie and Lindsey. I assumed the term was used for fans who wanted them to be together? And that's a relatively recent phenomenon, by the way -- it started building steam with the reunion. Before that -- all the way back decades -- it was barely a blip on the fan radar screen. There may be a few scattered fans here & there who say they believed in the Stevie-Lindsey pairing, but it wasn't a "movement." Actually, Stevie Nicks fans (okay, many of them) were vociferously anti-Lindsey in the past, & many were anti-Fleetwood Mac. They were widely known to be such; many of them over the years were caustic & brutal about Stevie's bandmates (& some Mac fans were pretty brutal about Stevie) at concerts & elsewhere. Some of them used to say to me, "The others can go to hell."

What goes around, comes around. This band's fans have never been tightly knit in their love or of a mind with their devotion. That is a phony view of the reality; it never existed.

There is some confusion, too, about what it means to be a chiffonhead. A chiffonhead isn't synonymous with a Stevie lover. "Chiffonhead" is a sarcastic derivative of "Machead," & it was originally used to denote a type of Stevie fan who continually & inappropriately invoked the trappings of Stevie's image (the faeries, the unicorns, the stars, the fog, the magick, the pouty looks, the long white gowns, the New Age crystals) in their own lives & interactions with other fans. Chiffonheads were (are?) the people who talked to you -- with a straight face -- about the spirits speaking to them & who signed their letters & e-mail to you with "Much love" or "Magick unto ye" or "blessed be" or any number of silly phrases from Stevie's brand of Wicca & who addressed one another as "Angel" & who liberally peppered their conversation (such as it is) with lines from Stevie Nicks songs & interviews & who often turned into werewolves at the slightest artistic or musical criticism of Stevie herself. Such people did exist, regardless of whether you choose to believe it, & it was my experience that they existed in large numbers, & I don't need anybody telling me that I exaggerate it or concoct it or see it in a bad dream. Some of those people were extremely nasty (there's one in Kentucky who has alienated virtually the entire fan world for numerous reasons, & another one actually prevented a song from being included on a Stevie Nicks album after he stole it).

When I speak scornfully of "chiffonheads," those are the people I'm referring to -- not just anyone who happens to love Stevie.

I had a good feeling about it all from that point!

The rampant vainglory & nastiness over there was entertaining for a short time, but what ultimately got me out of there was the almost complete absence of threads worth reading (to me). That's always what drives me from the grounds. People say anything they want about me -- they always have -- but one thing they can't say is that I don't like talking about Fleetwood Mac. If there isn't anything interesting being said about the band -- historical, anecdotal, critical, etc. -- I lose interest in the pad.

Most intelligent folks saw the writing on the wall when entire threads revolved around whether or not Todd would divulge the color of the boots Stevie wore at the rehearsals. If they didn't get what that inane place was about then, however, they certainly did once threads began to pop up regarding erotic dreams about Mick Fleetwood's "balls."

Here's her game: She's grabs what is freely circulated on the Internet among fans -- photographs, audio, video -- & sells it to the highest bidder, & then publicly congratulates herself for being a loving, caring, extra-special & extra-talented lady, all the while backstabbing, chasing off & running down other fans. This has been going on for about six years now.
