who do you feel was the best president the United States ever had. Or maybe they're just your favorite.

1. Franklin Deleno Roosevelt- by far IMO the very best and mos succesful president EVER. I mena he got us out of the freaking and depression and won us WWII throwing this country into its prosperity it's enjoyed ever since. It makes me mad that he died months before the war officially ended giving Truman the credit of being the president at the end of the war. No other president comes close.

RUNNERS UP

2. Bill Clinton- I'm not gonna lie, a big part of this is his fandom of Fleetwood Mac, but also I generally like him, and he did give us a great decade. I really wish he could've ran again this year. But just think he may return to the white house as first lady

3. Abraham Lincoln- He preserved the Union when the country was breaking in half, the civil war wasn;t an instant sucess, and I have a big problem with AMericans killing other Americans, but in the long run that war was worth it.

4. George Washington- Not for being the first president, but for his great advice as he left office. Don't get involved in foreighn affairs. We haven't followed his advice at all but Oh Well.

5. Thomas Jefferson- Doubled our size and got us moving towrds the pacific.

6. George W. Bush- Just kidding, but I don't hate him as much as others.

FDR - he had the right ideas and, sadly, the welfare state he imagined has been bastardized, misused, and blown WAY out of scope and proportion.

others

George Washington - he said beware of political parties - need I say more

Ronald Regean - bad politics, but I liked him as a person

Clinton - liar and schemer but other than that  did a good job

Carter - completely ineffective - but a good heart in the right place

FDR definitely. I saw that W had managed to come up with the notion that the War On Iraq mirrors WWII...that pees me off....are we supposed to try and compare W to FDR- Idon't think so!

Perhaps more so than Rove, Clinton was a BRILLIANT politician  Sadly, he realized to stay alive meant to turn his back on his base, which he did. Also, I know this is a huge issue to many, but despite the vast right wing conspiracy, which certainly existed and still exists  - he should not have sent his cabinet and others out to knowingly (he knew) lie about his affair. I have huge issues with the wasting of tax dollars for that, that money could have fed the poor. Granted, it was a witch hunt, but two wrongs have never made a right

But, Clinton did some good things - so, he is on my list

But Lincoln never ever set out to abolish slavery. In fact at the beginning of the war he was a racist. As the war grew on, he changed a little, but he never cared one bit about blacks. The Emancapation Proclation in 1863 was purely a war strategy.

My beef is only with the fact that he practically turned into a right-winger. He sold out. And he continues to do so. I've no use for him. Yet every liberal throws common sense out the window and worships the ground he walks on. It makes me vomit. Hillary is the true liberal, not that she'd let the public know it.

Not only that, but he allowed the rich to buy their children out of the war and he saw the influx of staving Irish as the way to fight it. He also knew the South's economy and the mouth of the Mississippi in Louisiana were vital to the U.S. - thus it could not be lost. If it had been an area with no taxable economy, I think Lincoln would have said SEEE YAAAAAA

-Clinton...his lies and deceptions overshadowed the great work he actually did, but underneath all that are many accomplishments. I don't think it's fair to call him a RIGHT-WINGER, he was definetely moderate...but you can't exactly put him in the same category as President Bush. On social issues, he was off from his base probably, like gay issues and abortion.... Clintons accomplishment in my eyes is bringing a party that had been out of the spotlight in ways for years at the point, back to the front...He let average americans know that they could be democrats too, and actually Democrats represented AVERAGE americans more than Republicans.

Of course republicans would probably say that he had nothing to do with his record accomplishments of moving record deficits to record surpluses, which of course as well all know ARE BACK DOWN IN THE HOLE NOW. He accomplished paying off the national debt a whole lot. Over 21 million new jobs were created under his presidency. Under President Clinton the economy had added an average of 248,000 jobs per month, the highest under any President. Minimum wage rose from $4.25 to $5.15 and Clinton before leaving called for it to be raised to like $6.15

Under Clinton we had the lowest number of people on welfare since 1969.
The United States under Clinton had five consecutive years of real wage growth -- the longest consecutive increase since the 1960s. The list goes on of his achievements, like unemployement, poverty, as well as military medicare reform. Not only was Clinton an economy President, he was an education President. He expanded work study programs as well as the Pell Grant. Of course we had the lowest crime rates in like 25 yrs under Clinton, certainly much of this had to do with Clinton.

-FDR...based on my knowledge of his work. Although I agree that his accomplishments and what he meant for them have been deeply skewed and twisted since them. Never forget THE NEW DEAL. His “good neighbor” policy toward Latin America, which included the signing of reciprocal trade agreements with many countries, really improved relations with the neighboring republics to the south. Plus he was the first to run and win for a 3rd term, and then a 4th. Then came Pearl Harbor, and the allegations that we knew about it, and so on...and the rest is downhill for him there. However he is largely responsible in part for the large growth of the US military.

-Kennedy...most people seem to like any President who is killed. He launched our nation's exploration of space, many believe he was a champion of women's and blacks civil rights. Kennedy backed the Soviets down through negotiations and embargo, going against the advice of many..instead of indulging what may have been a nuclear holocaust during the Cuban Missile Crisis. It is said that he corrected an economy quickly that was off course. One of his most important accomplishments, although not mentioned much ,was his ban of the atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons.

to see how great NAFTA was is go to the OKC area (Hell anywhere in Oklahoma for that matter) and ask those who watched their companies head to Mexico once NAFTA was approved.

He lied about his personal life that we shouldn't have been poking away at in the first place. Looking back at it...why did we even care? Would you rather have a president lie about having sex with a woman or lie about a country being a threat to us, telling us that a country had WMD, brought us into a war, ends up killing thousands of people?

Yeah...that's what I thought.

After around '94, Clinton's policies sucked, there's no way around it. The problem became worse when he was re-elected and proceeded to become one of the most conservative Democratic presidents in modern history. It has nothing to with him lying, it's about him doing a ****ty job as far as social policy went (and economic when it came to NAFTA and a few other things). He sold out the people who elected him. I liked Clinton a lot in the beginning, but in term two, I had no use for him. Would I prefer him over Bush? In a heartbeat. I'd take Chelsea over Bush. But I wouldn't hold him up as the God of Liberalism because he's hardly a liberal these days.

had nothing to do with his lack of chosing beautiful women to have affairs with (Excluding Jennifer Flowers, The rest were in need of sacks to wear over their heads! Trust me, A President Brian j. would be callin' my new friend Hugh Hefner to send over the Playmates!) but how, when he was still Governor of Ark-i-saw and how he royally pissed on the members of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma (Based in Tahlequah, OK) and said it was raining with his promise to not fight for his state's right to dump raw sewage into the Illinois River's tributary, Which flowed straight back into the Illinois River and annihilated the tourism of the area, Which hurt Tahlequah (Thus the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) in a major financial way (I remember receiving my usual monthly flyer from the Cherokee Nation as a member stating to not support Clinton after he backed off his promise.)

I agree his sex life was no one's business; that he did it in the oval office with an employee, however, probably makes it the govt.'s business, esp. when that employee's silence was bought with a job obtained by the Pres. lawyer prior to the infamous Tripp phone calls. Also, does anyone really think he did not use women for sex while in power

But and in any event, Clinton heightened all of that by sending out his cabinet to perpetutate the lie - Clinton certainly knew what had happened  That was obstruction of justice pure and simple. I think people should care when people of power use that power to perpetuate a fraud. I mean it was our tax dollars at work there. Think of the good that money could have done. So, he is a cad and a srook for that - there really is no way around that - though many try

I get that the current administration is horrdendous, but that does not negate Clinton's willfull deception at the cost of the taxpayers - that is a crime. They should be judged on their own merits
