Even though I wasn't going to - I broke down and rented "Super Size Me" this weekend.

How disturbing.

I was disgusted - and I"d eaten at this horrid restaurant earlier - so I'm not sure if it was that or the movie or a combination of the two - but I was SO naseaus by the end of that...

And the famous fry experiment - that really disturbed me

I know this film has been discussed on here before - but I had not seen it up until now ....I'm seriously disturbed haha...

I guess it's a good thing though that I'm now completely repulsed by fast food

Oh I ate Burger King yesterday [hurl]. I've never seen this and I'm not sure I want to. Or, maybe I do so I'll never eat there again.

Yeah - I didn't really want to see it - and when I rented it I didn't think it would have that big an impact on me...but it did!

I also have had the worst time losing these extra ten pounds I gained over the summer- and I know it's due to my horrible eating habits - I went out yesterday to the store and bought a ton of veggies, a little fruit, whole grain bread and lean meat lol....I am now not even craving the fast food...we'll see how long it lasts lol.....

I read that people who even only eat fast food once a week are heavier than those who do not. I would also like to shed some pounds. I don't often eat fast food myself but yesterday I waited too long to eat and was so starving I could not drive past the drive thru.

What is in this movie that will make me stop eating this crap?

After almost two months, McDonald's french fries left in a warm and moist room didn't even begin to break down. And it took weeks for the burgers to finally do so.

It is just alarming what the stuff did to this guy - the problems he developed as a result of eating so much of it...

Also he shows like how much sugar he ingested....they show a stomach staple surgery (can't remember the actual name of this procedure...) and that freaked me out something fierce....

Um yeah - I'm guessing different things in the movie would affect different people but I ate a lot of fast food (specifically McDonalds) throughout my life- and this just brought to life how truly crappy it is for one's system...

  that was totally alarming...I mean - they looked like they'd just been purchased...what the hell do they put in those fries??

Also - the bugers blech - if I even start to crave one I can just picture the nasty molded ones...

OH - and the chicken nuggets thing...yuck.

My sister watched it with me and had the same reactions - she's got a five year old son who she is never going to let eat there again either...not a huge loss as he's more interested in the toys than the food...

Okay, dare I ask what's with the chicken nuggets? Same massive amount of preservatives or something else? I gotta see this movie I guess. I like to be informed even when it's nasty.

It's EVERY part of the chicken, ground up and then pressed and processed to look like chicken. Some of it isn't even chicken.

Gross, I won't even feed that to my cat! I started buying him Wellness cat food because I heard that everything is in the food including non-food stuff. I never eat chicken nuggets anyway because they seemed like mystery meat.

Well from what I recall - and I'm sure someone else can give a better description on the chicken nuggets...there was just this horrid animation of a chicken with abnormally large and saggy breasts...and the whole process described was just yucky...wow -that was probably no help at all...haha...but I just remember some parts more than others - I knw I was disturbed by it - yet can't recall all the happenings completely...

what a nice direct way to say what I was rambling about lol....but yeah...it's totally gross....I like when he held up a nugget that looked like a foot and was like...what part is this? The foot?

My mom has been telling me that one since i was little. gross. I had an extreme sausage sandwich from JITB this morning....does anyone really need sausage, let alone EXTREME sausage? I want to see this movie, though. I eschewed fast food for years when i was Vegan, but it would be nice if someone would refresh my disgust, and knock some sense into me. :p

Dude, I'm so glad I'm not the only psycho who's mouth is watering! I did try McDonald's chicken nuggets when they changed them recently and the texture was gross. You know, they had all the commercials saying "now with white meat". Which of course I know means a nugget has some white meat in it but I had to wonder what else was in them. So the question now I guess is, "What isn't in them?" Sick, Kyle!

the new and improved Chick-un Mc-Nigglets and IMO they're overrated...But at least the fries were fresh made (Wow! A frikkin miracle for Micki-Upchuckin-Dee's) but were still nasty tasting.

Neither Deb nor myself are fastfood nuts...Maybe every 2 weeks we eat out, But that's about it and it's usually some place that doesnt make the usual burgers/fries crappola (I am a Fazoli/Subway addict...Love the Fazoli breadsticks & the Vegi delight footlong subs!)

AND - although I am sure that Ranch dressing is filled with who knows what, the chicken looks like it is acutal chicken and the wrap itself is made from Soy. So, they appear to at least be healthy for fast food

I just like it without any dressing or sauce, I can taste everything much better without anything.

When I used to eat french fries, though, I used to drench them in ranch. This, of course, was years ago.

I worked at an "upscale" steak restaurant for almost 2 1/2 yrs, and I know when the inspectors come...it's a bunch of crap. They tell you BEFORE they come, and of course our boss would have us all clean really good. And if you get a bad score they tell you when they will be back, and you have to have the problems fixed by the time they come back.

Also they give marks for stupid things...instead of important things. IE : Bathroom doors must have an automatic closer on them....the room where dry food, like spices, fryer grease, sugar etc was stored needed to be re-painted. But they never said anything about let's see, umm BUGS, or old food underneath the fryers...etc...it's a screwed up system. If they want to fix things they need to fix the inspections..

I never did eat out lots, but If I did it usually was Wendys. I love their salads.

No - I knew it was bad for me - just not to what extent....the film just brought it home in a sense...and the fry thing seriously grossed me out - I'm not putting them in my body anymore...blech...I like to be somewhat aware of what's going into my body...and I just felt like I learned about how bad fast food truly is for me....

I have not craved it since seeing the film - and actually am still totally disgusted when passing a McDonalds...to each their own though...

Oh, sigh.

I have to stop eating that *hit. I really, really do.

Funny, I will never eat a McDonalds hamburger, just the nuggets, because I feel they are better and I will try never to eat more than a couple of fries. I don't even touch the McGriddles anymore. I do eat some Wendy's, but the jr bacon cheeseburger is good and not too much to it. I eat taco bell most of all, less guilt.

But I eat way too much fast food. It only started ONCE I moved out on my own. I work 60 hours a week at a Dominos Pizza. It's just so *ucked up. Dominos or fast food?????
I am so fat anymore...:(

DrummerDeanna
12-02-2004, 03:49 PM
Dominos is still and probably always will be one of my biggest weaknesses....I LOVE it -this film did not deter my love for Dominos at all

It is hard to lay off the fast food - I think I just got to the point where I wanted to and so therefore I was really in a place to watch SSM and it worked - totally turned me off - but before that...I was eating fast food 1-2 times a week...
