Grrr...missed all but the last couple of minutes

Was THRILLED when I saw Terri Hatcher kissing the "plumber" though....even though he's potentially a "bad guy"

And I like that actress who played that one lady's mother--she's the perfect Mexican Mother man...she hilarious!!! I'm peeved that I missed her - I may actually make an effort to stay home next Sat. and watch the repeat...

Was Edie in this ep at all?

That actress played the mom in "Real Women Have Curves" (great movie, btw!) She's excellent.

And no Edie this week.

Hmmm... OK, the chick who's banging her gardener? Her mother-in-law is staying with them & hubby suspects something's up, so he cried to his mama. She then SLAPPED him across the face, cuz "our family does NOT cry about our problems." She told him she'd "take care of it" and hasn't let the daughter-in-law out of her sight since, making it very difficult to bang the gardener, lol.

So daughter-in-law took mama shopping & stuck a shirt in her bag - when mama went to run after her, the alarm went off & security took her, enabling daughter-in-law to bang her gardener.

After that, mama told her a story about hubby's papa. Hubby thinks he ran off with a waitress, but mama implied that she "took care of him", kind of threatening to do the same to daughter-in-law.

Gotta get back to work, I'll write more later if no one else fills you in.

I'm back for a bit:

Teri Hatcher was asked to watch her neighbor's cat, so when she went to feed it she found that the neighbor's house was broken into. She found a screwdriver on the counter, so she gave it to the police to get fingerprints. Then the cop asked her out & she said yes.

In the meantime, plumber guy meets some creepy older guy in the park & tells him he "screwed up by leaving something behind." The old guy tells him there's no room for screw-ups and says that he has a hunch that at least one of the neighbors is bad news & he needs to get the job done (I can't remember exactly how he put it...) Later we see one screwdriver missing from plumber's tools.

So Teri goes out with the cop, she sees the screwdriver in his trunk even though he said he gave it to the lab. Teri gets mad that he lied & walks away from him even though she's in a bad area ot town. She calls her daughter, who sends plumber to pick her up. He does, sees the screwdriver. Teri tells him what happened. Asked him what he thinks about her. Then he kissed her.

Last one : OCD lady invites Mary Alice's son over for dinner (kids are on a trip & hubby's still staying at a motel so she's lonely, plus feels bad for the kid.) They start talking about the holidays, how his mom loved the holidays & how it will be hard this year. OCD lady tells him that HER mom died after being hit by a car when she was little, says she never told anyone about it before.

Kid says "I know why my mom killed herself, it's because of something I did." Then when she starts to ask about it, he starts shaking & freaks out & takes off.

She tells the friends, they all agree they need to get more info. So she goes to the house to invite him over again & kid & dad are fighting. Kid lies & says everything's fine, then you see dad's bloody lip. Kid says he will come to dinner, then OCD chick cancels when hubby asks her out to dinner.

So while they're out, crazy kid breaks into their house & decorates it completely with his mom's Xmas decorations (WTF?) The cops come & they all ask him why he did it, and he says.............................................................

"I don't know"

At the end of the episode, you see dad drive crazy kid away.

What if Mary Alice was having an inappropriate relationship with Zach?!

EWWWWW!!!! Maybe that's why he says it was his fault she killed herself.

He seemed to like being with Bree last night and I thought something weird was gonna happen with them, but thank God, it didn't.

Johnny Stew
11-01-2004, 04:27 PM
I'm wondering if Mary Alice's son, Zach, really had something to do with the reason she killed herself, or if he's just feeling survivor guilt, and, much like children whose parents divorce, is blaming himself for what happened.

They may be playing up the sinister aspect for added-drama. Then again, maybe he's a young Jeffrey Dahmer in the making!

Him punching his father was certainly an interesting twist! Up till now we've been lead to believe the father is the domineering one... but perhaps it's the other way around.

I don't think Mike (the hunky plumber) is "bad" at all. I have a feeling that whoever or whatever it is he's investigating has something to do with an injustice having occured. I even wondered if perhaps the older man he met at the park, is related to Mary Alice somehow. Her father, maybe?
Just a theory.

The only thing I DO know is that this show is pretty irresistible!

He seemed to like being with Bree last night and I thought something weird was gonna happen with them, but thank God, it didn't.

His behaviour around Bree did seem weird, but then I just chalked it up to the fact that he's probably missing a maternal figure, and/or outside social contact. Seems like he's been holed up in the house, either with his father or completely alone, since Mary Alice died.

Ooh - thanks Paula - I can't enough of this show..

Last night's was great, I though...I was so excited when Lynette stood up to that snooty ass mom at the play....there are So moms like that - my sister had to deal with them at my nephew's old school - so it was nice to see Lynette tell her off...

Also - they added the "Dana" thing from Zac...any thoughts on that - Dana was obviously a baby....since the blanket had her name on it...

Umm...lets so - oh - ha the mother-in-law thing is cracking me UP!! I can't believe she took her to the casino - too funny - I was laughing my ass off at that whole thing - other than that that mother in law totally pisses me off...stupid Carlos - he's a total mama's boy...

My theory is that Zach killed the baby and Mary Alice covered it up. But I don't think it was her husbands baby, she had an affair and got pregnant. ;) Just the musings of someone who used to watch Melrose Place, Dynasty, Knots Landing, and Dallas. :wavey:

I think I'm the only one in the world who doesn't completely love Desperate Housewives. I've seen every episode (although I missed the first half hour last night, watching Arrested Development), and I like it- but I don't think it's the greatest thing ever. I think Bree's husband is gay, but there are all sorts of theories over at TWOP.

I don't know... he seemed pretty enthusiastic about the idea of the female sex surrogate. If they had mentioned the surrogate would be male, I'd be more inclined to think he's gay.

Anyway, I have a few theories...

A. He wants to watch Bree having sex with another woman
B. He wants to act out some kind of S&M-type situation
C. He has some really weird and obscure fetish that he wants to act out (like the CSI episode about "furries")

The first theory seems somewhat clichéd though, so I'd be surprised if it turns out to be that.

*********SPOILER WARNING**************

So, what did everyone think of last night? I couldn't believe it when Mama Solis was hit by the car! OMG, But the funniest pat was right after, when the kid went after the camera, Eva Longoria just got up calmly picked up a bag and started packing!!!!!!!!!!

I was also surprised that she got hit by the car - not what I was expecting - I knew the kid was going ot get into some trouble with the car (after his whole "you still got your fake ID" conversation..) but yeah - crazy!!

Also - who do you think will die next week?

I want to say Edie but that seems SO obvious since that detective guy was talking with the dead woman's husband...

I was highly amused with last night's show - Stupid ass Mrs. Huber - putting the guy in Bree's flower bed...TOO funny...I hate that woman....

I guess if they're counting her as a DH then yes, it's her but I thought it was pretty much assumed last night that she died. Not a main character who dies then? Well - last night I though someone was gonna die - so I had thought they were going to kill off Bree's son...but yeah that went a whole other direction...

And you gotta feel sorry for Terri Hatcher's character (why can I never remember her name...) at the bar...SO painfully embarassing...

Someone's dying tonight! Who will it be?

Tonight was pretty damn good. Of course, throughout the show they had to try and make you think it was someone else who was going to kick the bucket. Even though we all figured where this was heading, I still felt really bad for Lynette and for 1.4 seconds thought it might be her. Ahhh but the right person is gone and all is right on Wisteria Lane. Except I want to know how Mrs.Huber knew what happened to the baby....

Mama Solis came out of the coma and killed Carlos. Yeah, I know, wierd, huh?

Lynette, the ADD-meds-taking mom shipped her kids off to military school. They will come back VERY disciplined. Hehe.

Gabrielle and the gardner ran off to Vegas after her extremely brief mourning of Carlos.

Susan and Edie fought over Mike....Edie won after Susan slipped on a banana peel. Susan is in traction at the hospital. So unlike her to have an accident.

Glad I could spoil it for ya. :wavey:

Creepy guy is Mary Alice's (the narrator who offed herself)hubby. He confronted Huber about the note she wrote to his wife saying "I know what you did" (I can't remember what it said exactly) that may have contributed to her shooting herself (it was written on Huber's stationary.) Huber admitted she wrote it & basically said she doesn't feel bad at all about Mary Alice "after what she did to that poor little baby." So hubby got pissed & killed Huber.

Hmmmm...so both you and Amber were damp after this episode?

Anyway, I just read that the actress who plays Huber (who I JUST found out is from Buffalo - gee, I'm so proud  ) will continue on the show, but they were very sneaky about it. Supposedly the actress was asked in a TV interview (on The View or some crap) why she thought Mrs. Huber was killed off & she replies "well, I think she was KILLED because she had no remorse..." implying that the charcter is in fact dead. BUT she also said that she has been told to continue to report to the set & that's it.

So...Will she also narrate along w/ Mary Alice? (I doubt it.) Will she haunt people? (No.) Will it all be a dream? (God I hope not.) Does Mrs. Huber have a twin? ( Bingo  )

The first TV Guide "spoiler" did mention that Mrs. Huber's sister has a connection to Mary Alice. Makes sense, no?

I do remember that spoiler... so it's very possible the actress will continue on the show, but as a different character.
And, in all actuality, she wouldn't necessarily have to play Mrs. Huber's twin... they could easy change her hair and makeup, to make her look different. Many siblings look remarkably similar without being literal twins, so it's a possibility.

I heard Huber will still be on the show, but only in Flashback scenes.

This is a very good possibility, too. They already have Brenda Strong as a regular, and her character's been dead since Scene 1!

OK, as for the second half - NICE! Loved the fashion show scene (Edie is so icky ho!) and the whole thing with Gabrielle (as soon as John's mom said "this isn't over" I figured she'd call the cops for statutory - but the hubby getting arrested - priceless!)

I saw Mary Alice's son telling Susan's daughter "I killed my baby sister" BUT I also noticed that he said he doesn't remember anything except his parents yelling both of their names & then cleaning up blood. I have doubts that he did it - or anything else for that matter. But finding out that the remains found in the toybox were an ADULT female? Hmmm...

Last Night's episode was the best yet. I loved when Bree charged onto the golf course with her son's urine and then dumped it on her husband when she got mad at him! Priceless! And I was in stitches when Susan was beat up by the mother and then was thrown onto the stage practically naked! Of course the scene where that one lady (can't remember her name) was trying to score some "high grade nanny" was hillarious! And I loved how Bree said "Good help is hard to find!" LOL!!! Bree's son is so mean to her. He is just smoking dope right in front of her and just shuts the door when she comes up stairs- doesn't even care that she knows! I love this show and want it to come on dvd or for them to air a marathon soon because I have missed so many episodes.

Lynette completely cracks me up with her kids. Bree needs a drink! Gabrielle (on the show, not me) doing it with a 17 year old gardener? LOL Scandalous! Edie is such a slut, but I love her. Susan is the funniest because she's such a klutz! Have you noticed that the men are all less than desirable in one way or another? Either they have some sex secret or some murder (?) secret or they're into something dangerous (the hot guy, Mike) or they're never around while the wife is ODing on Ritalin. No wonder they're desperate. Makes infidelity look not quite so shameless. Anyway, had to say I like this show too.

I too am getting into this show, but I missed the first few episodes. By the way, my name really is Gabrielle. I didn't steal it from the show. Mrs. Huber needed to go, I agree.
Just wanted to say Welcome! :wavey:  :)

I'm totally pi**ed! Went to watch it Sunday night, and what do I see? Fricken Eagles football game! I hate the Eagles, and am really annoyed that they aired Desperate Housewives at 7:00 to make room for the stupid game. Grrr... And they aired Extreme Makeover: Home Edition at 1:00 in the afternoon! So I was hoping they'd re-air desperate housewives on Saturday, but noooo, they have some movie on!! I'm so ticked.
But thanks for the update, everyone! Any other pertinent details I missed??

I was really hoping the two of them would work it out because I don't think he's a bad guy even though he--well--did what he did (without revealing spoilers you both know what i'm talking about). What in the hell is the deal with Mary Alice's husband? At first I thought well, maybe the kid is insane but there is definitely something we're missing with that story.

I almost DIED when they said she's a hooker. I was thinking, hmmm, well, to each her (slutty) own, I guess, figuring she was doing a couple of guys a week for some pocket $$$. But then I realized she does more than one per day - EEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW! Anyone hear of sloppy seconds - ICK! I have NO idea why it bothers me more than if she was doing one per day

Anyway, when the feds came to get the Solis' belongings? "We aren't into clutter." LOL! And I loved Bree at the end. The nanny seems fine, but that would be too dull, so something's bound to happen, IMO. Maybe with the hubby? Although, they seem the most in love as a couple...

um, not much, but the guy who killed Mrs. Hoober planted evidence against Teri Hatcher's new BF (plumber) and, a jogger with a dog found Mrs. Huber's body - that was right at the end. The Worst Dressed Women of 2004

10.) Anna Nicole Smith: In Marilyn’s rejects, she’s a bona fide fashion scream — looks like a rag doll trapped in a wind machine!

9.) Meryl Streep: Forget "Lemony Snicket" — Streep packs the fashion punch of Jiminy Cricket! In dowdy glasses and lumpy tents, Meryl is "A Series of Unfortunate Events!"

8.) Paula Abdul: Let’s face it: Perky Paula’s a paint-by-numbers fashion foul — she dresses with all the restraint of a revved-up Simon Cowell!

7.) Britney Spears: What’s left to say about the new Mrs. Federline? She’s a "clothes encounter of the catastrophic kind!"

6.) Serena Williams: Courting disaster with every style-free serve, black leather at the Open takes a lot of nerve! From the Queen of Tennis to Fatal Fashion Menace — non-stop!

5.) Paris Hilton: Paris’s "designer" is obviously on vacation — this is one Hilton that should be closed for renovation!

4.) Courtney Love: Setting the decadent precedent was once her couture code — now she’s just Medusa stuck in a meltdown mode!

3.) ***A Tie * Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson: From gaudy … to grim … to downright frenetic * these two prove that bad taste is positively genetic!

2.) Lindsay Lohan: Over-hyped and under-dressed. What’s happened to Lindsay? When it comes to fashion she’s in a schizophrenic frenzy!

and

1.) Nicollette Sheridan: In barely-there bombs she’s a taste-free pain — Let’s crown her the Tacky Temptress of Wisteria Lane!

Michael Ausiello, from TV Guide Online, was keeping a running commentary/blog during and after the Golden Globes on Sunday night, and here are a couple of interesting tidbits from the 'Desperate Housewives' cast:

11:00 The entire cast of Desperate Housewives is in the press room basking in their best comedy series win. When a reporter asks which of the women has the best love life, all the gals point to Felicity Huffman. Bill Macy, you little devil!

11:10 Housewives creator/exec producer Marc Cherry says Marcia Cross initially balked at reciting the line, "Rex cries when he ejaculates."

11:11 What do Halle Berry, Kevin Spacey and Lawrence Fishburne have in common? They all admitted to being big fans of the show, Eva Longoria reveals.

11:12 The first-season Housewives DVD drops in August. Scoop!

11:12 On being named the worst dressed celeb by Mr. Blackwell, Nicollette Sheridan sasses, "I'd rather be No. 1 on the worst-dressed than No. 2 on the best-dressed. What the hell does Mr. Blackwell know anyway?"

What am I, the recap girl?

OK, I'll do it. I can't stand the thought of people not keeping up with this show :D As a side note, who was the idiot at NBC that scheduled the women to present an award at the Globes WHILE their show was airing on ABC? Of course, I'm sure it was done on purpose.

OK, the pharmacist really likes Bree, gives her a gun as a gift (he knew she was a member of the NRA, lol!) She loves it, takes him shooting, he makes a pass at her & accidentally shoots himself in the foot as she rebuffs him. She just wants to be friends (while making Rex jealous) but he wants more. Seems like he'll be turning into a stalker real soon.

Carlos is out of prison, but on house arrest. Gab is pissed that he can't work & she still has to do boat & car shows. She got mad at him cuz he's talking about having kids again & he started yelling that he's still the man of the house & she needs to listen to him, blah blah blah, so she takes the bucket of chicken she got for him across the street, sits down on the curb & eats it in front of him (he can't go more that 100 feet away from his sensor.) He later refills her birth control, has is delievered & replaces the pills with something else. EVIL!

Mike's house was ransacked & his gun & $$$ were taken by the old guy (his father-in-law?) who hired him to do whatever it is he's doing. Says he's taking too long & wants to hire someone else. Mike goes to talk to him, convinces him that he will get the job done by saying that he loved Deirdre (?) The father in law says, I believe you, since you've already killed for her once (?!?!)

Huber's sister starts going through her house, Susan panics when she tells her that Huber wrote everything in her journal, figuring someone will find out about the fire. So she starts being really nice to Edie, goes with her to dump Huber's ashes in a lake, Edie gets suspicious of Susan, then cries & tells Susan what a great friend she really is. Susan can't talke it anymore & tells her about the fire. Edie throws all of Huber's ashes at Susan's face (so gross.) The whole way home, they don't talk, Susan keeps apologizing. Edie says she won't tell the police as long as Susan invites her to the neighborhood poker game once in a while. Then she proceeds to hose Susan down on the front lawn (she couldn't bear to think Huber's ashes were poured down a drain into a sewer.) ;)

Felicity (I can NEVER remember her character's name) keeps arriving to yoga & can't put her kids in the daycare cuz it's full, she argues with the girl who won't let her kids in (it was the baby and her one son, he was sick & couldn't go to school.) The next week she gets there early & still can't get in UNTIL the woman sees that her son is now bald & she thinks he is really "sick" so she lets them in. Of course, he's bald because he got gum in his hair & she had to shave his head the night before - but she doesn't tell them that. Until the next class, when a woman who survives cancer starts talking to him & telling him how brave he is, etc...The kid is freaked out, asks mom "am I dying?" She says "no, people only think you are because I had to shave your head." Of course, everyone is digusted & they leave - no more yoga for her!

I think that's it.

I'm starting to get fed up with being strung along so much. They never tell us a single f*cking thing on this show. Take a cue from Melrose Place and learn how to progress storylines without driving your audience mental.

And get rid of Gabrielle. She's boring and annoying. Her husband makes me see red, too.

I just wish something would happen instead of the same old thing. In every episode, Bree and Rex have second thoughts about their divorce, Susan makes an idiot out of herself at least once, Lynette can't control her heathens, Edie exposes every part of her breast except the nipple, and Gabrielle acts like a bitchy twit. Toss in three or five mentions of Dana and Mary Alice each, omit anything interesting or anything that could possibly progress a storyline, shake vigorously, and voila! You have Desperate Housewives. :D

Rex tried to reconcile with Brie, but she turned him down. Teri (I can't remember some names) finds out about her daughter and the son, and finds out about Dana by listening on their phone convo, then telling the dad that she knows about Dana, and he admits to everything. Umm, we find out that the son really didn't kill Dana (maybe the dad?). But the son freaks out on Teri, and she says he can no longer see her daughter.
Gabrielle is confronted by her boy-toy's parents and is forced to break his heart and make him change his mind and go to college.
The pharmacist is confronted by Brie's husband (who is very mean to him) and he gives Rex different pills than his heart meds.
I am sure there is more, let me think

I'm debating whether or not to watch anymore. I'm sure there's something else better on TV at 9 than that pile of crap I just sat through. Not only is it becoming predictable but the characters are starting to bug the hell out of me. I think i'm over the DH hype.

I could never sit through a whole episode without looking at the clock and thinking "it's only 9:25?"........"its' only 9:45 and there's 15 more minutes of this?"

As opposed to a great show like SATC or others where you blink and the episode is over.

DH has always been something for me to stare at until Boston Legal's on. I've never really been that into it, I'm glad to see that people are starting to tire of it. I think I'd like it better if Sheryl Lee were playing Mary Alice, like in the unaired pilot.

Or, for that matter- I think ABC Family's starting to air three episodes a night every Saturday night, starting from the beginning and in order. Watch it. Dammit.

All my mom and I do when I go home to visit is watch GG, whether it's the DVDs or the holiday marathons they inevitably have on ABC Family. My dad gets so pissed because whenever he walks in the room we're giggling with it on. We literally hole up in a bedroom laying down watching it. We eat meals in the room.
