What are your top picks for song that have and have not transferred well to the stage (past or present)?

Just a handful of my picks (because, even though I started this, these things stress me out too much! ).....

Have:
GYOW (any tour)
World Turning (when Mick did the solo with a real drum)
Why (w/S&L...breathtaking!)
Silver Springs
Eyes Of The World (any tour, but especially now)
Oh Daddy
Sisters Of The Moon
Blue Letter
ISA

Have not:
Gypsy (any tour, but I like it pretty well SN solo at US Fest or WH Tour)
YMLF (moreso in the later years)

...Thought I had more "have nots", but can't think of them right now! :)

Ah, the age-old divide between the Haves and the Have-Nots.

HAVES:

The Chain <--- (Invariably much better live than the original album version IMO)
Beautiful Child
Silver Springs
IKINW
EOTW
WTWCT (You so crazy, Jake.)

HAVE NOT:
Nothing comes to mind. I'm sure there's a few.

Hm...I always thought YMLF translated pretty well to the stage, especially later on (i.e. The Dance tour). But anyway...and I think I'm just going to stick to the Fleetwood Mac versions, not solo live

Have:
Rhiannon (1975-76 especially well, 1977-80 pretty well, 1982 alright, 1987-90 (see below), 1997-Present - back to alright.
Landslide
Say You Love Me (always pretty good live but exceptionally good in '97)
I'm So Afraid
Blue Letter
Go Your Own Way
Gold Dust Woman
The Chain
You Make Loving Fun
Don't Stop
Second Hand News
Songbird
Tusk
IKINW
Sisters of the Moon
Angel
Beautiful Child
WMYTYTO
Think About Me
Not That Funny
Sara (1980, 2004 - I did NOT like the '82 version of this song regardless of people telling me it's the same arrangement as the Tusk tour...it's totally different sounding, and the arrangement is NOT the same, but enough of that. Oh, and the late 80's version was pretty lousy)
The Farmer's Daughter
Eyes of the World
Love in Store
Little Lies
Everywhere (I always thought live Everywhere kicked studio Everywhere's behind)
Big Love (still waiting for the full-band version of this one)
Isn't it Midnight
In the Back of My Mind
Save Me
Silver Springs
Red Rover
WTWCT
Running Through the Garden
Say Goodbye
Peacekeeper (it's not great, but it t

Have nots:
World Turning ( I hate the solo, just hate it ...Mick needs to be behind the drums)
Rhiannon (1987-90)
Dreams
Oh Daddy (it got better on The Dance tour, but I thought it really lumbered during the earlier tours)
That's Enough for Me
Sara (Post 1980 until it stopped being played until 2004)
Gypsy
Hold Me
Destiny Rules

Alright, that's all I have now...I think I was supposed to just do top picks and I kinda screwed that up!

Have:
The Chain
Go Your Own Way
Isn't It Midnight
Rhiannon
Why
Sisters Of The Moon
Stand Back (counting it b/c FM has done it for 4 tours in a row)
World Turning (I like drum solo...yeah I guess I'm in the minority  )
Tusk
I'm So Afraid (A big improvement from the album version)
What Makes You Think You're The One
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Gold Dust Woman (Tho I still prefer the album version)
Oh Daddy

Have Not:
Everywhere
Little Lies
Hold Me
Save Me A Place
Gypsy
Songbird (Yes, I said Songbird. The album version is waaaay better)
What's The World Coming To

Somewhere in the middle:
Don't Stop (Some versions I liked, while others I hated)
Say You Love Me (It was mediocre from 1975-1987, but I hate the Dance version)
Peacekeeper (It was good when I saw it in person, the bootlegs make it sound terrible)

I put so many Chris songs down for "have not", because IMO her music tranfered better in the studio. It never sounded as perfect live. Some of hers did make the "have" list, so I wasnt completely against Christine live. Perhaps the way her songs transfered live was due to her unwillingness to tour in the first place, and thus was a result of giving a half-hearted performance? IDK, it doesn't seem that way, but still.

Eyes Of The World(This is way better live than the album version.)
Gypsy

Tear It Up(the BTM line-up)

I'm So Afraid(I like the album version ALOT more. It's boring live.)

I think most of their songs transfer well, so I will just name some I think do not :

Gypsy (except for the acoustic version from the AHI 2000 Show)
WTWCT
Peackeeper
Dreams (its ok for the casual fans, but it seems to lack something post 1982)
Love in Store (i think it didnt sound so well live, the vocals just seemed - off)
Little Lies
Seven Wonders

Stevie solo :

Bombay Sapphires (this was horrendous live IMO)
Planets of the Universe (the reason it didnt work IMO was because she wasnt very enthusiastic about it)
Sorcerer (boring live)
Too Far From Texas (ok so you get the point I didnt like how they did most of her new songs in 2001! lol)

The music rocked, it was Stevie that seemed off on that song. Some of the guitar solos at the end were blistering; fantastic!

What are your top picks for song that have and have not transferred well to the stage (past or present)?I can't think of anything specifically that has never sounded good live, except maybe Peacekeeper, which lags & drags like a pooped-out buck private in boot camp.

My picks for sounding good are also my picks for not sounding good. It all depends on how old the players were, which tour, &c. For me, several songs have taken a downturn since the onset of the digital tours: for example, The Chain sounded great a couple of decades ago, but is just a lethargic, turgid soup nowadays. Same with Gold Dust Woman & Rhiannon. But Don't Stop probably ranks as my least favorite as it has aged. It used to be a ball-busting blues shuffle; now it's an anthemic singalong.

Chris reminded me of one I didn't like the one time they did it: Love in Store. The organ was inappropriate.

Peacekeeper (Ugh.)

 Agreed. Also to add to the "Have Nots": Everywhere, ISA (because of the too long guitar solo) and Over and Over (snooze, yawn).

Haves:
The Chain
Silver Springs
Gold Dust Woman
Rhiannon
Sisters of The Moon
Go Your Own Way (when it's done right and raw, however, recently it just sounds like an oldies revival)
Don't Let me Down Again (I know, I know, B/N, but F.M. does it GRRREAT!)
Second Hand News
Green Manalishi
Say You Love Me
Tusk
Sara (no matter what Stevie says!)
Big Love (acoustic version)
Angel

Sara (no matter what Stevie says!)

If we were talking about back in the day, I'd agree. But on this tour? It's painful to listen to. Of course, I've only heard boots, so I'll be able to make a better judgment when I hear it tomorrow.

For me WTWCT was the highlight of the shows. It's somewhat average on the album, but the live arrangement was great.

Well I too thought that even the people that didn't care for the album version would agree that the song rocked live. It`s beneath Come the best live song from the SYW songs imo. The people beneath me at least received it very well.

So many have's! My personal picks for great live translations...

- Eyes of the World (2003, though - the older version from the Mirage concert video was weird with Lindsey/Christine's 'bo-bo-BO-bo's if you ask me)

- Over My Head (from the Live 1980 album) - I just think they added a whole new pep/umpth to it with Lindsey's lead-in and the extra beat

- Silver Springs (from 1977) - Back when Stevie could totally rip into the end, it's absolutely amazing. Totally hitting on that emotional level that she just can't quite get to anymore and the band backing her up all the way.

- I Know I'm Not Wrong - I think it's awesome both as a lead-in like they're doing now and also as an afterthought, encore-closer type song like in the Tusk Tour. You can do it upbeat and rockin' out, or more subtle and sad-sounding almost. It works on so many different levels!

- So many "Tusk" tracks, which are more of a groove, chill sound on the record were amped up for the live versions. I love the added jams at the end of almost all of those songs to give them more of an arc - Angel, Over & Over, WMYTYTO, Not That Funny. All surprisingly great translations that you wouldn't think would work well live.

Have nots:

- Hold Me - They just couldn't get the harmony down and it sounded clumsy

- Say You Will - Just flat, boring. No matter how much Lindsey cracks down on that melody part, it's just repetitve and goes nowhere (and as much as everyone seems to love that dance, it's just as bad! :] ).

- One More Lonely Night - snooze! that goes on their live album over all other choices??

Yes, I was talking about back in the day, particularly the Tusk tour. Let me know how you like Sara live, I have no doubt that you will be brutally honest!!

Glad to know it, I was hoping that Sara would be the highlight of this leg and then there are all these posts saying that it sounded bad, fell flat, etc.!! You have renewed my faith, I can't wait to hear it in two weeks!!

Have you heard the Green Bay boot? I felt so bad for her because it sucked teabags. Either she started smoking again for real or she gargled with Draino before the show. Either way, it was wretched.

Yeah, I liked it. (It truthfully wasn't that bad) The bootlegs of it sound like **** though.

I really think that if it came a little later in the set, it would go over much better. They open up with Chain and Dreams, and then they would just kind of say 'okay here's the new song' and it threw off the rythym a little bit. I personally think it translates well live, but I never feel like hearing it right after "EOTW" or even "Dreams" because I'm so amped up.

Have:
The Chain
Eyes of the World (at least on Mirage tour sounded much better live)
Angel
Sara (Tusk tour and Stevie's WWD tour)
Landslide (I prefere earlier arrangements to the Stevie/Lindsey acoustic setup)
Silver Springs
Save Me a Place (Chris playing acoustic guitar is cool)
Over and Over
Say You Love Me (on The Dance much more than other tours)
Sisters of the Moon
Tusk
Isn't It Midnight
Everywhere

Not:
Hold Me (love the song, hate it live)
Dreams (the studio version is too perfect)
GYOW (the way the voices meld together during the chorus cannot be replicated live)
Not That Funny (studio is bad enough)
Songbird (I'm sorry, but she can never seem to stay on key for the whole thing)
Rhiannon live is pretty blechy to me
Don't Stop, as the piano part isn't as clear
World Turning (loathe drum solo)
Gypsy
