Here's my current Stevie top twenty (one)!

1) Sisters of the Moon
2) Races Are Run
3) Beautiful Child
4) Storms
5) Sara
6) Gypsy
7) Everybody Finds Out
8) Ooh My Love
9) Gold Dust Woman
10) Planets of the Universe
11) Crystal
12) I Miss You

15) Gold and Braid
16) That's Alright
17) Edge of Seventeen
18) The Dealer
19) The Highwayman
20) Goodbye Baby
21) Enchanted

Except for "Sisters of the Moon"- the list jumbles around all the time. My top five are usually ALWAYS my top five.

I just love Stevie. For me, the greatest artist of the rock and roll era, bar none. It's just her whole package- great songwriter, 1000 emotions, the lyrics that only she can write, the solo/band juggling act, and of course.... THE VOICE!! Nobody can touch her...

I made a compilation tape of my "all-time" Stevie songs about 2 months ago to bring along with me in my car. (Tape deck, no CD player. Wah.) It took a long time to commit to choices. Luckily, it's a 120 minute tape. ;) There are 28 songs on the tape, but I'll narrow down. They're chronological, as opposed to favorite ranking, because they are all my favorites.

1. Long Distance Winner

I find it very interesting that so many people SAY they have this very special "relationship" with the song "Sara", yet, it barely makes people's lists; or, when it does, it is FAR down the list (with a couple of exceptions).

Ok, so here are mine (really in no order)...this should dispell this supposed anti-Nicks stance I've been rumoured to have 'round these parts: ;)

I find it very interesting that so many people SAY they have this very special "relationship" with the song "Sara", yet, it barely makes people's lists; or, when it does, it is FAR down the list (with a couple of exceptions).

I noticed that, too.

I think it's just the whole "Legend of Sara" bull that takes over, if you ask me.

Maybe it's because it's sooo associated with Stevie that people get sick of it. The studio version of "Rhiannon" has never done much for me at all, and the live versions from the '70s where she just goes nuts tend to be a little over the top for my taste. The Dance version is my favorite, because I like her deeper, huskier vocals better, and I think her wailing on it toward the end ("take me like the wind, child...take me with the sky") is effective without going overboard.

5. Gold Dust Woman
6. Twisted
7. Storms
8. Rhiannon

The Lindsey and Chirstine lists were HARD but this is IMPOSSIBLE (Not necasarily because her songs are better but there are just alot more of them and I like most of them) But I'll try. The first 5 are my like ultimate top 5 Stevie songs. The next 15 aren't really in a particular order and I'm sure I'll forget some.

1. Silver Springs
2. Rhiannon (Studio AND live)
3. Sisters of the Moon
4. Gold Dust Woman
5. Beautiful Child
6. Storms
7. Angel
8. Thrown Down (SYW version)
9. Smile At You (SYW version AND demos)
10. Dreams
11. Edge of 17
12. Gold and Braid
13. Nothing Ever Changes (I can't explain it but I LOVE this song)
14. Blue Lamp
15. Fireflies
16. Illume
17. Running Through The Garden
18. Destiny Rules
19. Doing the Best I can
20. Bella Donna/Kind of Woman/Think About It/ How Still My Love and Outside The Rain all as one continuous song> I'll call it Hawkeye's Bellad Donna Medley:laugh:

Stevie's SYW songs did great on my list but they just can;t break the forefield of the heavy early hitters she had in Fleetwood Mac. And my list has no Gypsy OR Sara. two popular Stevie songs I just don;t care THAT much for.

They weren't real honest with their references on that live album's liner notes. It was FAR from what Mick referred to as "a document of the Tusk tour". There were at least four tunes recorded in 1977 and one as far back as 1975.

I don't have this in front of me, are the notes wrong? Or is my memory failing me.The notes aren't necessarily wrong, just misleading. The only info for each track is the name of a city -- e.g., Monday Morning, Tokyo. Most people assumed that it must be Tokyo from February 1980, but it's actually from the band's performance in Tokyo on Dec. 5, 1977 (which was televised in Japan, by the way).

I think the cities listed by each track are correct, in spite of the missing dates & years -- Monday Morning is Tokyo (televised), Dreams is Paris (filmed), Don't Stop is Paris (filmed), Rhiannon is London (as audience tapes attest), Don't Let Me Down Again is Passaic (or Union City, or whatever they call it). The only two I have my doubts about are Say You Love Me & Over My Head. Wichita & Kansas City, respectively, are suspicious to me because they're from a specific stretch of time (August 1980) that was recorded by the band (including Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Mobile, Tucson & Los Angeles).

At any rate, Say You Love Me & Over My Head are 1977 performances.

Ok, I went and listened to the album and the bootleg and they are identical as well. Same guitar solo, same greeting at the end (Thank you! And a very good evening everyone), even the same "yeah"s here and there. And the same poor backup vocals by Stevie as well ;) .
