What is a Mac song that you've known for a long time and certainly enjoyed...but it never REALLY HIT you until later? My most recent one is Never Forget. Always liked it, but then...BAM! An OBSESSION song!

"What a wonderful night to be
The stars must be my friends to shine for me"

I love that!

It was Over & Over for me. Never though ttwice about it after I first heard it, but it didn't take long for me to fall head over & over heels for it.

Say Goodbye is my 2nd least favorite track on SYW (no song could beat the album's title tack...) but watching them perform it live gave me a totally different perspective of looking at it, wish i had a decent live recording of this one, coz i still can't stand the studio version.

Most of the ladies' stuff on Tusk, thanks to the miserable '80s cd pressing that I have. Listening to the vinyl version on a good turntable was a religious experience. Damn that Buckingham, putting all that stuff in there! :)

Beautiful Child - I always thought of it as a great song on the Tusk album, but I didn't realise just HOW great it is until the final few shows in the U.K. At the final night in Earls Court, Stevie was 100% on it (LB and SN's harmonies were AMAZING) and I have to admit I had a lump in my throat during the song. It's now definitely jumped into my top 5 SN songs, along with Storms, GDW, SOTM, and Gypsy.

This tour changed my mind completely on "Beautiful Child" too. All kinds of crucial stuff like the electric lick just jumped out of the mix. The harmonies were more attractive on the album though. But I guess it's also the only song in the set that Stevie is completely into these days. That's what some have been saying anyway.

It's in my Nicksian top five too, after this tour. :)

Tusk and Brown Eyes. Now that I've heard Tusk live I really like the song's energy. I think it's better live than on the album. And since I've heard some bootlegs of Brown Eyes I just love the harmonies and appreciate the song more.

Well before I heard them live, I just thought that Stand Back and GYOW were mediocre pop songs, but they just explode live! I love them now, but much more on live versions!

Hmmmm... songs that I didn't like at first but now I adore... I suppose those could be "Eyes Of The World" and "Wish You Were Here". :)

Song of the moment - Brown Eyes

Eyes of the World and Beautiful Child. Hearing them on this tour were real eye openers for me. I now play them constantly.

Songs that have crept up on me and I fell in love with were two Christine songs, these were songs I tended to skip or ignore but when I gave them a chance back in 1988 they have been favorites since....Prove Your Love and Warm Ways.

JUST KIDDING!!

okay, seriously, it would have to be "Big Love" from The Dance. I never really liked this song when it came out on TITN but once I heard the acoustic version I REALLY started to like this song, and the line, "I wake up alone with it all/ I wake up, but only to fall" is just killer. There's some real desperation in that song that I never got from the TITN version that comes through loud and clear in the acoustic one.

Hmmm... Talk To Me, Angel (SN), Brown Eyes, Big Love (both versions), Hypnotized, Steal Your Heart Away, and Miranda :D.

Being that I've pretty much dived deep into each Fleetwood Mac song since 1967, some sink to get rare turns on the sound system, some have floated back to the surface to get repeated plays for a time, then sink back into the depths for a while...the recent "floaters":

Forever-(the harmonies & the pseudo-Reggae beat gave me a big slap upside the head in the past couple of months)

Rollin' Man-(Peter Green's guitar tone is perfection on this)

Looking For Somebody-(my bands' DRUMMER of all people reacquainted me with this Peter Green gem...his suggestion was for us to cover it! I think it is cool that our drummer of all people is well versed in Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac)

Walk A Thin Line-(there's something about Lindsey's tunes on Say You Will that seem to have sprouted from this tune, and I've been trying to hear exactly what it is about the new tunes that make me think of this Tusk tune in particular...I really like Mick's version on The Visitor, too.)

Recently, "Say Goodbye" and "What's The World Coming To" - definitely better live. Starting to really adore the studio version of "Goodbye Baby", too - the live boots I have are too much plastered in synth chords, IMO.

Don't Stop because at first I thought it was too happy to be on Rumours. Then I saw the Dance and fell in love with it.

Peacekeeper just because it had to grow on me.

Definitely "Come" and "What's the World Coming To?" as well as "No Questions Asked" and "Brown Eyes."

Without any doubt "Never going back again", the chemistry between all three voices, and "Stephanie" from BN ( does that count?)

I love Lindsey's guitar playing. It can bring tears in my eyes.

I forgot about this one. Gold Dust Woman. I absolutely hated it until I read what it was about because it made like no sense. I love it now.

Recently, for me it has become Miranda.

I can't get that song out of my head:laugh:

But everytime I put Tusk on and Brown Eyes comes on, I repeat it a couple of times...such a wonderful gem on that album.

For me it was Gold Dust Woman. I hated it when it first came out and never really cared for it until I saw it live during the Dance. Don't know why either but now I can listen to it and the louder the better.

Never Forget. Always liked it, but then...BAM! An OBSESSION song!

It's so funny you should mention this! I usually listen to albums in order so I never really appreciated Never Forget after everything I heard on Tusk. Just recently though, I've really been loving this song. Christine sounds so happy on it.

Other than that, it would have to be Future Games. I love the album itself, especially Morning Rain, but the title track I often overlooked. Now, I really see it for what it is, a really awesome pre-BN tune.

I never liked this song until I heard a clear version of it. It's not a Fleetwood Mac song but a Stevie song. It's been stuck in my head for days now. It's called Dial The Number.

Really? It's interesting what people like and don't like when they first hear it. I really liked Bella Donna the first time I heard it. I love that "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" bit in the middle.

I love it now. It just wasn't catchy on first listen, like much of her best stuff.

Her harmony on it just blew me away. Interestingly, I had the record (album for you youngsters  ) for like a year before I listened to that one song.

And if your older brother told you to jump from a bridge into Point Dume, would you?:)

You can skip
Over past the title track
Listening to your brother
But you'll never scare me

Warm Ways I always thought was one of the most boring songs ever and one of Christines worst and most intolerable. So......mellow.......

I thought this for months.

It's the opening track on one of the Chain discs though, and I put it in and just let it play and suddenly it struck me as this beautiful love song. Yeah, the lyrics are kinda soap-opera-ish but overall I think it's some of the prettiest music Chris ever wrote and almost as good as Prove Your Love or Why. I just sat there as it played and when it's over you just kinda smile real retardedly. It has a fantastic calming effect.

Most of Mystery To Me had to grow on me, and Heroes overall took a few listens before I could appreciate it and it's most defaintely my favorite Mac album now.

I don't care for any of the Kenny G. outtakes. They sound like she's improvising the words and (flat) vocals from the start.

"Little Lies" was the one song that didn't hit me until later. It's so funny.

Back when I only had the Dance and Greatest Hits, I would listen to the hits and skim through each song. I orignally bought the album because I was interested in Gypsy.

One day, I decided to listen to "Little Lies" and when I did, I was stunned alone by the intro. It took no more than a few more months later for me to become a huge fan of that song.

I'm proud to say that it has been my favorite song for two years!

God bless! :wavey:
