Sounds like Lindsey? No, it's Rod Stewart!!!
Hey,
I heard a Rod Stewart song on the radio today, a cover of Cat Steven's 1967 track "The First Cut Is The Deepest" About two minutes into the song we get a little solo and it struck me that it sounded very familiar, it sounded like Lindsey's solo from Frozen Love, although much shorter. Anybody else noticed this? Maybe the guitarist was a BUckingham Nicks fan! |

It's the tone of the guitar, it does sound very much like the electric on "Frozen Love". It just that era all over it, I can even hear similarities between this tone and Joe Perry's from "Dream On", even though they were almost certainly recorded with two very different guitars. I think it must be the recording techniques used for rock guitar back in those days, plus the compression/distortion/gain levels ("70s rock guitar" is SO distinctive) that were popular around those times...which produces the similarity in the sounds between the two songs.
