Default Not entirely Fleetwood Mac related, but...

Today, September 18th, is 40 years since Jimi Hendrix left us. Peter Green may be my favorite guitar player, but no one redefined the possibilities of the instrument the way Jimi Hendrix did. After all these years, he's still the most astounding electric guitarist I've ever heard. We'll certainly never see another like him.

Recently saw ZZ Top in concert and Billy Gibbons dedicated a song to Jimi and noted that Jimi had been the one who had noticed his talent and given him some help in getting started in the music business. They put up a photo of Jimi with a psychadelic background and showed various pictures of ZZ Top with Jimi. It was pretty cool and something I was not previously aware of.

Just thought I'd share.

Yes, Billy's pre-ZZ Top band Moving Sidewalks toured as Jimi's support band. Hendrix singled Billy out as one of the best guitarists in USA on a TV show (this was before ZZ Top). Think he called him Billy "Gibson"
