Wink Richard Thompson...

We saw him in Orlando tonight (my last night in Orlando before the big move to New Zealand!!)

Anyway...FANTASTIC show. He played all solo acoustic. Misunderstood, Crawl Back, Sea Song, and many other gems. He played for a solid 90 minutes and then we met him afterwards! I got some great pics below:

Hey LittleD, good luck on your trip to New Zealand.

BTW, have you ever uploaded videos of you playing
the guitar on YouTube? (especially the Turner)

THANKS!

I've got a "half" video of the solo from ISA on Youtube now, and Tango in the Night solo. I don't have any of the Turner because I sold my Boogie rectoverb. I've been using a Boogie Express lately, but its now on a container on its way to New Zealand (and I won't see it again for another 40 days or so!) I will get some up, eventually. =)

Thanks so much! We are in Sarasota now visiting the in-laws...then off to Atlanta to stay with my brother (give him my car)...then we fly to L.A....then to NZ!

We're pumped but super anxious and stressed at the same time. So... not 2 minutes ago, just for fun, we just threw our dog Bailey in the swimming pool. We laughed.

Thanks Brandon ~ for sharing your pics and concert experience with Richard Thompson... I love Richard Thompson's music... He is sorta the British John Prine...
I love Richard & Linda Thompson's music too... I have their "Pour Down Like Silver" album and Linda Thompson's "Fashionably Late" album... I love "Nine Stone Rig", "Weary Life"... They are a great musical couple... Your a young Soul, to Like such older Music... And that's Good!!! ~ ~ ~... ;-)

I have seen Richard twice in Knoxville, TN at the Bijou Theater. He is truly amazing live. I saw him once when he was playing a list of his own personal work and another time when he was doing the 1,000 years of popular music. The 1,000 years of popular music was really interesting! Here is a website about it: http://www.richardthompson-music.com/1000yrs.asp

If any of you guys can catch him, it is well worth it. No matter what his setlist is.

Hey guys!

No, we could not take Bailey with us. We already spoke with NZ quarantine. Bailey has a recurring ear infection (and really sensitive ears as most cocker spaniels do) and we dont think she'd "clear"...so we are leaving her with Renee's parents. Renee's dad loves Bailey, and Bailey is familiar with them. It breaks our hearts and Renee and I both are missing her, and mentioning her every 15 minutes or so...

=(

Anyway...we're in Atlanta right now visiting my brother. Driving up to east TN to visit my mom later today (and my sister). we've been doin the family rounds thing, and we both are EXHAUSTED. I mean, we're tired but we can't sleep. That kind of thing. It's been aggravating a bit.

we'll be living in wellington again (where i lived in '06)...we dont have an apartment sussed out yet, but are staying with friends who have spare room for us until we do. We're excited/nervous/anxious/happy all at the same time!

PS...yes, that Richard Thompson show was awesome, and he was very friendly to us...and funny

Thanks! yeah we are in ATL right now, flying out tomorrow at 1pm...layover in LA for 3-4 hrs and then we leave LA around 7pm and fly straight to Auckland! That puts us in Wellington around 8:30am on Friday morning. We are very anxious! I have still not been sleeping well. Renee noticed last night that since we have left Orlando, we've not been sleeping on the "side" of the bed that we normally do. we managed to swap sides at her moms place, my brothers and my mothers! We didnt notice it until last night. I said knowing my luck thats been the reason for all this non-sleep!

Hey! yes, we're in New Zealand. =)

Sorry I've not been online very much as we've been staying with a friend and I cant be on his computer ALL the time! =P

Anyway, we finally found a nice place in the area of Wellington called Kelburn. If you arent familiar, just do a google image search of "Wellington Cable Car" and yep...we live only a 45 second walk from there.

The weather has been **** though. Its raining and extremely windy right now. But, thats why they call it windy Wellington. I told Renee "Dont even BOTHER trying to fix your hair up...it'll be right back down in 10 seconds outside" Haha...she is adjusting well, but having a hard time with all the walking. We drove everywhere in the States & even though the grocery store was less than a mile from our place in FL we never once walked there!

All in all, it is great to be back here. Now that we've got the apartment/flat sorted out, we'll be job hunting full time! Fingers crossed!
