Arrow Lindsey in NJ

So last night we go to the Starland Ballroom in beautiful (LOL) Sayerville, NJ to see Lindsey. We got there around 7:45 and the doors hadn't opened yet, despite the 7:30 start time on the ticket. Very eclectic mix of people on line - all ages, from older teens to 50's or even 60's. Some people were still in business attire, coming straight from the office. They kept telling us on line that no cameras were allowed, but from the amount of flashes that kept going off during the show, I know I wasn't the only one who ignored that statement!

LB finally took the stage sometime after 9:00. The venue was maybe 2/3 full, perhaps a little less. The setlist was the standard, but IKINW was particularly stunning last night - at least for me! He seemed agitated at several points during the show, and made remarks about people talking a few times. I know the place is a bar, but geez, give the guy a break! He's up on stage giving his all, and there were so many people just gabbing away during the set. I moved all over the room during the time he was on the stage, and couldn't find a place where there weren't people talking, even towards the front of the stage. Boy did that piss me off.

The end of Holiday Road was pretty weird - he, Neale & Brett kept making all sorts of animal sounds & barking, and LB was saying, Bark, Bark! Pleeeeease bark! A tad bizarre.

On the whole, it was a decent show. Very cool being so close to him, and having the freedom of walking around to see the show at different angles.

My photos didn't come out so great, but here are the 2 best of the bunch:

Default strange night

my thoughts exactly. When I first got there I felt like I was the only 'normal' person on line - to the point where it was embarrassing being a Lindsey fan. Wow it was weird - a real freak show. Sayreville is an absolute dump - the venue is in a superfund brownfield that is a strange mix of pine forest, swamp and industrial waste. Being from Jersey I wondered what Lindsey was thinking when they drove into the area - not very representative of NJ but strangely all things you think about when you think of NJ. The staff at the Starland were low class, rude white trash and other than taking my daughter to see Taylor Hicks in a couple of weeks I would never spend another dime at that place. I was on line at 6 and when they finally opened the doors discovered that a 'secret' line of pre-paid parking people were being let in first - like 100 of them - I could go on and on but Lindsey did very well to overcome technical issues with the lights being too strong, acoustic issues and Jersey folk..

the location of the venue certainly does not wholly depict new jersey as a state. last night was the first time i'd been to sayreville and i literally felt as though the venue was in the middle of an industrial park of sorts. it was situated across the street from a vfw and next to what appeared to be an impound lot. strange indeed. the inside of the venue reminded me of a little club where people would go line dancing. however, the sound was amazing and it was probably the best show i've seen out of the now three that i've been to. he's certainly on fire even moreso than he has been previously. i really enjoyed the concert

The show sounded like it was great, but the venue and the crowd mix seemed weird (present Ledgie company excluded). Why on earth would people talk during Lindsey's performance??? Not only is that so frickin disrespectful, but it spoils it for the people who really came to see him and feel the full experience. Why are some people so oblivious when it comes to behavior and etiquette? You wouldn't stand up and start shooting the chit around about what you ate for dinner or the ding in your car during a funeral, would you? Some people don't make sense.

Okay, as for the state of New Jersey, it is my home state and I love it!...and it is truly gorgeous. Only a few parts are iffy. People think New Jersey is all about Newark and Hoboken (no offense to Hoboken [please don't hit me]). I'm from the Ridgewood area and it is absolutely a beautiful place. They don't call NJ the garden state for nothing...Rolling hills, cliffs, stately homes, gardens...and close to NYC! (shopping!!!)

Give it up for New Jersey!!

reminds me of diego last leg...with the plasma on the backwall. I would have loved to be in such an intimate location again.

i think that because the venue is basically a bar (and apparently, they serve food as well), the atmosphere as a whole is completely different from a normal venue. people got pretty hammered. lindsey motioned to the one side of the crowd and mentioned everyone drinking their faces off and then motioned to the other side of the venue (who were by far much chattier) and basically said they must all be on blow since they weren't shutting up

ahh...new jersey...only the strong survive

We heard him say that and were cracking up!

For a while before the show my husband & I were just sitting in the back and people watching, and even he said there were some really strange people there...for HIM to notice, they must've been strange! All he kept saying is "I know we're in Jersey...." (we're not jerseyites, but live right across the bridge in NY, so we might as well be - we're here all the time anyway!)

Hey, what was that comment about Brett the womanizer wanting to stay at the 4 Seasons in Philly? Did he actually hook up with someone that night?!

i had so much fun at last night's show! It was my first time being in the front row and I stood right before him all night! (My first concert sweat was from Lindsey, yay!) We got some BEAUTIFUL pictures, also disregarding the 'no cameras' statement by hiding our camera in my purse chamber. This is the only one I have to show at the moment as I took it with my phone:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I developed the others this morning, I can't wait to get them scanned into the computer.

I will share them as soon as I get back down to FL on Tuesday, they really came out beautiful and close!

BTW, has anyone yet mentioned his tongue-in-cheek comment about his bandmates being very supportive of this tour as well as the big plans for later next year?

well, i live here and have lived here for nearly 24 years. even i thought we were in some sort of parallel universe. it was certainly a strange town. the show was great though.

no, brett just has a reputation for being kind of a total dog when it comes to the ladies. lindsey was just making the comment that he wouldn't be trying to get any chicks to come back to the hotel with him because they were staying at the four seasons in philadelphia.
