Default Picture queries from "My 25 Years..." book...

My copy of this (which has been languishing in California for over a year since I bought it) finally turned up. and I have a couple of queries that perhaps the folks who are even more detail-obsessed than me can answer:

p104: captioned, somewhat obviously, "Lindsey Buckingham"

1) what *is* that guitar? It looks like a Strat, except that it seems to be missing the bottom horn!

2) he appears to be playing with a capo on the 10th fret. I assume it's a Tusk track, since I have a pretty good idea of capo positions/guitars/tuning for most white album/Rumours/Mirage stuff... but which one?

p106-7: captioned "Tusk tour rehearsal 1979"

1) is that the Turner he's playing?

2) the white Les Paul is propped on a stand - was it actually played on any Tusk live material?

Fender VI six-string bass. He played the same instrument on "Farmer's Daughter" during The Dance tour.

So, what song is it likely to be? Farmer's Daughter again?

Thanks so much for posting those Christy!

Yea that's the Turner Model One in the 2nd pic. Distinctive by the curves/colour of the body, the shape of the neck, and that stripe going down back of it.

Yea, that early 60s 3 tone sunburst finish on the Fender Bass VI is soooo damn cool!!!!

I have absolutely no idea what song that could be....a bass capoed at the 10th fret.....lol....typical mad LB.....lol!

If you're wondering "where have I seen that guitar before?", the answer is most likely the pictures from the OotC sessions. Check out the attached pic.

Actually, on VH-1 Classic, round Jack Bruce's neck Should have realised it was a Bass VI.

Dammit, I thought that was a jazzmaster!

Ok guitar guys- clear this up for me:

Jaguar and Jazzmaster- what's the difference?

And, is the VI just a "normal" 6 string bass? How is it tuned?

EADGBE down an octave. So capo 10 gets you DGCFAD, or a guitar tuned down a whole step. The chord LB is playing in the picture looks like a BDA triad on the top 3 strings, so I'd be guessing a Bm7-ish kinda thing.

ah hah. that makes sense. I always wondered about Famer's Daughter- it is played VERY low. I knew he played a different guitar on it, but I always thought it was the jazzmaster. thanks!

The Fender VI, the Fender Jazzmaster & the Fender Jaguar all had/have very similar body shapes.

Ahhh.. I see. They do have very similar body styles. Interesting that the VI bass has tremolo & 3 pickups.
