Default Cell Phone Upgrade - who has VERIZON

Hi All,

I'm eligible for a cell phone upgrade and I have many choices that are free. Just wondering who has Verizon and what type do you have? Do you like, dislike it? I'd like to be able to take pics, send them via email, check email, post on facebook, etc...

Here are my choices:

BlackBerry® Pearl™ Flip 8230 smartphone

Samsung Saga™

Palm® Pixi™ Plus

HTC Touch Diamond™

Palm® Pre™ Plus

BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530 smartphone in Black

BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530 smartphone in Smoky Violet

HTC Ozone™

I remember reading a few months ago that another smart phone, an iPhone, would be making it's way to Verizon soon if you want to hold out a bit.

Something like this?

Maybe I will - though I doubt it would be one of my free choices ...

I've got Verizon and was finally eligible for an upgrade on March 20th.
I got the Droid and I'm in luuuuuuurve.

Basically because I have addictive websites like Facebook at my fingertips 24/7 in basically any location.

Edit: Now I see that the Droid isn't one of your options. My bad! Can't help ya, I guess.

I've not for one moment regretted getting a Blackberry curve. The battery lasts for a 7 day week and the pre-installed Word software does my late essays wonders

Nope, this one.

I wanna say it was like $200 (even after the rebate for another 2 yr contract...)

I have a Motorola Q9c which is a windows based smartphone and I love it!

The only windows based phone in that list is the Samsung Saga (which I cant say I like the electric blue color of...) and I am not sure how it would compare, but my Moto has been great. I have been eligable for an upgrade for a while now and I am in no hurry to get rid of it.

I have a crappy old phone, ready to upgrade in the next month. I will say that I've been with Verizon for several years & like them way more than my old carrier, which was Cingulair/AT&T.

I have Verizon. I recently upgraded to the LG.
I pay $22 per month for my calling plan. I don't text or access the Internet. I added a little memory card to the phone, on which I store videos I take of my dog pooping on the walk trail.

David, you don't text??? Okay, I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into the texting world, several months ago. I make no phone calls now. Now, I'd RATHER make the phone calls, but no one else rolls like that, so it's text or die.

I'm a tightass, and I'm on a Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go phone(nice qwerty phone, though - Kyocera X-TC). I pay $7/month, for 10cents/minute calls. I buy 1000 texts/month, for an extra $10. At first, I was only making about 5-10 texts a day. Now, 1000 texts won't last a month.

Most of my friends have iPhones, and wouldn't trade them for anything.

What's wrong with the BB Storm?

The BB Storm is great when it works but it rarely works. You need
to pull out the battery at least 3 times a day. Yes there is an app
for that and it worked fine for a few months and then it
made my BB freeze up. I had to delete it. Now I'm back to pulling it out myself.

Most of the apps are crap and cost $ and the free ones like Facebook and Twitter and a few others eat up the memory. One time I didn't have any numerical dial pad just strange characters and the folks at Verizon had no clue what was wrong. The dial pad returned ever so mysteriously the next day.

If you don't close out of every program it eats up your battery and becomes very hot.

That's all I can think of for now. Anna, would you like to add anymore info on the BB?

Christ where do I start!!??

If you talk to someone for more than a few minutes when you hang up the damn thing will start vibrating like mad, or just go dead. You need to pull out the battery when this happens.

Sometimes you will be unable to type quickly on it. You need to pull out the battery when this happens.

Sometimes it will just freeze up for no reason at all. You need to pull the battery when this happens.

Sometimes it will just lose all your contacts. But, no worries, they will magically reappear later.

You can put in on silent, or vibrate, when you need silence, and it will ring audibly anyway. You can put it back on audible, and it will only vibrate.

The phone will never ring at all, but you will be notified that you have voicemails.

Its an unbelievable piece of ****. When I called Verizon to complain, they agreed it was an unbelievable piece of ****, and told me I was **** out of luck and that I'm stuck with it til September. If I have any real problems with it, they will replace it with another, equally problematic Storm.
