Well that's one less person I don't have to contend with 9/9/09 when the remasters come out. "If she weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood" And therefore: "A WITCH!" |

I'm really glad to see I'm not the only one who dislikes the Beatles. I wonder if it isn't a generational thing - those of us who weren't around when they were still together and didn't experience all the hoopla surrounding them are perhaps less likely to get what the big deal about them is. Maybe. They really did kinda take over everything - I think practically every pre-rock pop singer did a Beatles cover album in an attempt to stay current, and they were usually terrible. Even Ella did one, which I haven't heard. I cringe just thinking about it....

I've never really liked the Beatles. My uncle had one of the original LPs with that picture of them with all of the fake bloody babies... thus causing me to strongly dislike them. And I still kind of do. :/ But then again, I haven't really heard very much of their music, and neither do I intend to, so no need to bomb me with links!
But the list goes on... I HATE The Eagles. My mom has an Eagles obsession like I have a Fleetwood Mac obsession. I HATE Def Leppard. I HATE Led Zepplin, because they scare me very much. I could think of more, but I really dn't feel like it. But hey, I like Nirvana! Kind of. LOL...

Enough said.
Oh, and not sure if Journey count as classic rock but I could do without ever hearing their music again. Yes, even 'Don't Stop Believin'. |

Not sure if it they count as "classic rock," but I also loathe Four Seasons, if only because Frankie Valli sounds like an eight-year old grandmother undergoing shock therapy.

After Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Ian Paice, I went straight into progressive rock drummers: Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer, and the Tull drummers (there were several). Looking back I guess they all did the "look how fast I can play" routine. Now that I'm much older (been playing since '83), I'm far more attracted to jazz drummers such as Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck), and Elvin Jones (John Coltrane). Morello is in rare company as a drummer who can play technically perfect, yet with the utmost feeling. Elvin Jones on the other hand is just a force of nature. I also like S. P. Leary who played with a lot of Chicago blues artists. That guy was something else. He makes blues drumming interesting. Yet as a guilty pleasure I still find myself drawn to the big kit drummer that used to drive bands instead of today's beat thumpers. |

If you want to talk individual Classic rock singers, Joe Cocker to me is like nothing short of nails on a chalkboard or swallowing a dozen razorblades. Absolutely the most hideous voice I have EVER heard! He is one of the few musicians where when I hear a song of his come on the radio I can tellin the first few notes and have to immideately switch the station.
