Default OoTC Drum Machine?

Does anybody know what sort of drum machine Lindsey used for this album? Was he still using the LinnDrum from GI or had he moved on to something less 1982? I've got samples for the LinnDrum and I'm having myself some fun just playing with the sounds and getting stuff that's similar to Lindsey's 80's stuff and I was thinking about trying the same with the OoTC sound. I suppose he could have made a new set of samples by himself rendering the question of which drum machine he used pointless but I'm hoping it's an identifiable machine.

Anyone have any information or articles?

From the sounds of it I think he used the bossanova beat on a Bontempi keyboard.

He used a casio with a Kjembe voice... also some pots and pans... I hear he can play the spoons really well on the fairlight...

Honestly I love this album... wished he would have hired a drummer...

This is an article from 1992. It does not cite what he used to get his drums sounds, but one could speculate from reading the last paragraph that he used the drums sounds that were on the Farilight I and II.

Did the old Fairlights have onboard drum voicings? Did they require Lindsey to sample drum tracks & then use the instrument's rhythm sequencer to loop a complete track?

Here's some info on the old models:

Thanks, David.

That was a really interesting article, John. I love any talk about the technical side of things. I guess he could have been using the Fairlight and made the samples himself. I do remember reading somewhere that he and Richard wanted the drums to sound like a real drummer, although I'm not exactly sure they succeeded...

There were multiple versions of the Fairlight II, I know at least some of them had onboard drum voicings.
