Hi!
I couldn't resist and thought I deserved and needed a "new Lindsey" session tonight and subsequent posting in a forum (also, I have no idea when the album will be released here in Spain..) so I listened to the songs. I haven't read this thread yet (so I may be repeating ideas), I will do after.

Cast away dreams is one of the most beautiful and well written songs Lindsey has EVER recorded. Period. Moving... devastating It has all those ingredients that makes the music of this guy my favourite... a song like this, when he "gets there", is able to make me feel completely happy.
Show you how brilliant also, those Brian Wilson vocal games, and, Lindsey, was it the dusted off Fairlight at the end? lol great
It was you well not my favourite.. eer a bit odd at first listenings... was it reggae? why? well it may be funny after a few listenings so let's give it some For now I only like 4 seconds when he reminds me of Perry Farrell (another favourite of mine).

The other two songs are already classics to me so no news.

I think that, although a bit shocking at first, Lindsey's choice of production for this album makes total sense to me: completely opposed to current protools-autotune bland crap, keeping the songs simple and pure. Also, an intelligent solution to overcome destructive perfectionism . Even a little less echo would have been welcomed as well.

I can't wait to listen the rest of the album, and the next one, and next
Bravo!!!
Hugs to everyone and a big thank you to Mr Buckingham!

Héctor, from Barcelona

After hearing Show You How for the first time, I'm pretty confident that this song is going to kick some serious ass when played live. I'm already excited.

Hector, it seems we won`t get a UTS release in Germany and I don`t know about Europe in general. I had to order it as an import version in a local store. I hope the import delay won`t be too long. The official date was 29.09. but the store people already told me, that the shipping could take 2 weeks longer...
Probably I should have ordered it via amazon instead. Perhaps that`s what you could do too. I guess we won`t have an opportunity to see a live show over here in Europe.
But this release and the prospect of and hope for the next one, which is announced for 2007 is making up for this. My favourite from the 3 new songs is CAD too. I have to get used to the Brian Wilson style-songs but if you can`t say one thing about the new songs, then that this is boring stuff or a work from someone who had run out of ideas. Great days for us.

That seems like a good idea Stefan, maybe it's what I'll do, thanks!
Lindsey in Europe? noo, I don't think so, unless this or the next album are huge, which I don't believe either
This is one of the things that I like most about these songs: he seems like he doesn't care to be polished, commercial, this time (in OOTC, i think he made the attempt), so no compromises in his vision.
I'm sure this and the next album will be loved by every Lindsey fan, just after a little while of getting used to this new sound. I think he's in a great form!

Cheers!

On Mars?

great that he's been picked up by the BBC-radio.
How did it sound on the radio? I always have a complete other reception of a track played by radio than playing it by yourself.

Gerald, do you have any comments on the shocking news that both Try For The Sun and Shut Us Down appear in shortened form on the album? According to the Allmusic Guide discography entry Try For The Sun is 30 seconds shorter on UTS than on GOS and Shut Us Down has lost more than a minute of its length.

Wonder why that is? After all, there is still plenty of room left on the CD.

I don't know. I try not to be shocked. I remember we all freaked out when the rumour was that Come would have been shorter too. It stayed intact on SYW.

As for Shut Us Down, it could be that he didn't remove anything from it. He probably played it faster/sped up the tape for the album just to annoy Johnny Stew.
Does it matter if Shut Us Down is shorter on the album though? We already have the rather perfect Elizabethtown version.

It was weird. I heard it playing quietly in the background and my ears pricked up. I thought, I know this and then it hit me! I was really excited. It sounded pretty nice on the radio too - it worked. Just shows you, Radio 2 could have picked any song from the album to play and, wow, they didn't choose Down On Rodeo! I hope they play it more now. I think everyone should email Radio 2 and request it!

Got radio 6 on all the time at work, think they'll play it too? I think he'd fit there well anyway.
