Did they think we wouldn't notice?
Anyone seen U2's new video? For "All Because of You?" If you haven't just think "Where the Streets Have No Name." It's basically the exact same concept. Even a few requisite shots of the cops looking on. The chopper shots are there, the screaming fans. Personally, I think U2's collective heads have grown way too big for their own good. This 3 minutes+change of self-adoration and idolatry is just gross. My most unfavourite moments: the shot of the office tower, where the white collar set is pressed up against the windows (one guy is standing spread eagle in the window, like he's ready to jump), and the spot where you hear the women yelling "Bono, I love you!"
Pass me the knitting needles so I can stab my eyes out now. |

i think i lost interest in them somewhere around the time when Bono became just too magnificent to stare back at his audience, and started wearing those huge shades.

lol.. uh, yeah..
I used to be a big fan of this band, and I still think a lot of their music is great, but it's this kind of behavior (and especially Bongo.. the other guys are allright I think) that spoiled the fun for me. Did give their new album a try though, but somehow it ended up in the cd rack after a week already. Haven't listened since. Won't go to a concert this time around. |

Bono has been rubbing me the wrong way for awhile now, though I don't think I really have room to talk because I'm a huge Sting fan. I do like some of the music, but there is something about his voice that gets old fast to me, and it's impossible to escape it. I think I've gotten used to the Mac and the idea of not having to listen to just one singing voice all the time.

I stopped liking U2 after Pop came out. Some of the songs on that disc are ok, but it just wasn't the band that I had grown up listening to anymore. I haven't heard this new single or seen the video, but I can't stand "Vertigo"
I'm sorry, but a bunch of Irish white boys should not be singing in Spanish - especially when they get the words wrong. |

Glad to know that I am not the only U2 uh 'non-fan' around here. Seems that they are popular with Mac fans. |

I adore U2 and actually admire a lot of the work Bono does for charity. That said, I don't like the sunglasses, and this latest album wasn't all that hot. I think their high point was "Achtung Baby" and they've been declining since.
