Gosh, I always thought the most romantic line in a Stevie song was from Sara: "He was singing... and undoing... and undoing... ooh, the laces... undoing the laces..."

I think I got all the punctuation right from that quote!

I think her most romantic lyrics are from the 'My Love Never Gets Lost' demo. The first few verses are quite beautiful in my opinion. Where it goes "They say all the doors are shut, but in my heart I'll never give you up" & "My love can never be traded or be bought, no my love for you can never grow old." I've always thought those were such romantic lyrics. She has a lot of gems in her old demos.

From her released songs...She doesn't have many songs that are just simply romantic. There's always either a tint of loss, anger, etc. I think "All I ever wanted was to know that you were dreaming" is a beautiful line, but it's not necessarily romantic.

Maybe this is not the most romantic line but the line from If Anyone Falls always floored me. So much so that one time in 1994 I was a secret admirer and left a card for someone with the following line:

"I have never known the words and I have tried to be true.....but I've never known what to say.....how to say..... seen anything today... I've never seen.......anything like YOU."

The lyric is "kind of woman that'll haunt you"
IMHO not romantic at all. Temptation about cheating and a woman haunting you for it is hardly romantic. Its like her line in Silver Springs.."I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you."
Tells me breaking up with Stevie is not an easy thing to do. She will haunt you like a poltergeist

I think that while "China Doll" is so heartwrendingly sad, it's lyrics are some of the sweetest:
