I gotta say, it's really refreshing to see Stevie improvise a bit on these songs, given how by-the-book she is in most live performances.

I think she's played 2 others on TV. Moonlight right around IYDs release and she played planets back in 2001 which of course was followed by has anyone ever...

I recall she played Sisters of the Moon on her piano during some interviews on the Tusk tour. She did play Dreams in her interview for the Rumours anniversary dvd (the first of the many Rumours anniversaries)

I'm not sure she's actually capable of playing her own songs the same way twice….

Perhaps in some contexts, but on tour, especially with FM, I haven't seen much improvisation recently, especially with lyrics (perhaps GDW excluded).

yes but she's singing, not playing. I was referring to her playing them herself on piano or guitar.

all the more reason for her to start randomly playing the piano during a few of her live shows. who cares if she's any good. it would be AWESOME

She sounds better performing these two songs here than she did on the show.

Christine McVie said this same thing back in like 79. During the Tusk era she did an interview and said she thought Stevie should play live even though she wasn't the greatest piano player ever because then Stevie would be known as a musician and not just a singer. In fact I think her words were "It would be f*cking great". I think Stevie was too insecure about her playing then to do it. Now she probably figures she's made her name for herself and so who cares if she's not a great player and is less worried when she plays for people.

And how great is Christine to be willing to cede some of her spotlight to Stevie back then.

I think Lindsey had a lot to do with Stevie not playing on stage anymore...

well I'm sure he didn't do a whole lot to boost her confidence…

Nor is he as generous as Chris.

I mean, would you rather be known as a great singer or a mediocre musician?

I think Stevie's better than she gives herself credit for, but I understand the trepidation when it comes to playing live.

Also: Does anyone know if Stevie had her own Ovation? The guitar she's playing in the above pic is the same model as the one LB played during that era, so I always thought she was just playing his. But there's also a picture of Stevie playing it in the late 90's [I think] with Lori, so unless he gave his to her when he stopped using it or something, seems like she might have had one too.
