Up for sale, a 1982 Ibanez Musician 8-string model ST-980 24-fret in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original flight case. This uncommon, 8-string Ibanez Musician bass comes directly from the personal collection of Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie, complete with paperwork from Julien’s sales. McVie is, without question, one of the artists most widely associated with the Musician bass, and can even be seen playing this mode in the 1980 Ibanez bass catalog.This Musician features neck-through construction, and tonewoods include a five-piece maple/walnut neck, mahogany/walnut body wings, and a 24-fret ebony fingerboard. Offering ample resonance and sustain at 10lbs 4oz, the bass is loaded with Super-4 single coil pickups which are punchy, potent, and rich, balancing low end fullness with glassy treble articulation and broad midrange growl. The active electronics offer extensive tonal sculpting precision with a three-band EQ and Boost.
