Default Anyone going to Sunrise tonight?

I see ticketmaster opened up a handful of floor seats late this afternoon. Anyone going tonight? If so please post some pics so I can see what I'm missing. Decided to just go to Tampa, enjoy the area, venue, and crowd much more than Lauderdale.

I had planned on going but waited too long and the show was sold out. I did not want to pay $400 for a nose bleed seat. But do have tickets for the Miami show. I saw them early in Pittsburgh. I am attaching a review from the Herald. It says it was sold out with 16,000 seats. As you probably remember, Fleetwood Mac cancelled their Sunrise appearance last year for lack of ticket sales. What a difference a year and Christine makes!
How was the show?

No, I didn't recall that about last year's cancellation. That's really surprising. Glad they rebounded !

Montreal was also cancelled last year due to poor ticket sales. I don't believe they were that bad since the Mac had a very successful 2013 tour. It REALLY irked the fans to cancel only one month prior to the concert because the venue was not a certain percent sold already. I understand its the nature of the business but they were already playing Tampa the next night so they were already in Florida. I doubt they were going to lose money if they kept Sunrise and Montreal

With Christine McVie’s return, Fleetwood Mac’s musical chain is together, as good as ever at Sunrise concert

Finally, 16 years after playing her last gig with Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie is back in the band.

Hard to tell who seemed happier for her return, the fans or the band members. Drummer Mick Fleetwood said in a pre-concert interview with the Miami Herald that this enduring band’s autobiographical music has served as a soundtrack for its audience’s own similar experiences. Love, loss, joy, heartache.

“It’s astoundingly powerful that for the vast majority of that audience their lives are unfolding in their own world and we’re triggering that.”

These fans have made the superstar group’s On With the Show Tour one of the year’s top touring attractions. At Sunrise’s sold-out BB&T Center Friday night, a crowd of 16,000 or so lustily cheered reinvigorated classics like Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way and Landslide.

Immediately after the standard Fleetwood Mac opener, The Chain, fans got their first taste of McVie’s burgundy warm, bluesy alto, which, reassuringly, sounds much as it did on Rumours 38 years ago. “Sweet, wonderful you/You make me happy with the things you do,” she sang in the opening line of You Make Loving Fun, the fourth Top 10 single from the landmark Rumours album. Back then, the song was about her lover, the band’s former lighting director, whom she briefly turned to as her marriage to bass player John McVie ended. Now, the lyric seems directed at her fellow musicians, including her ex, as well as the fans.

“Usually I’d say, ‘Welcome back, Christine,” a genuinely friendly, chatty Stevie Nicks said, referring to her previous stage patter early in the tour’s run. “But since this is the 39th show, we can safely say, ‘She’s back!”

Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, Nicks’ ex and the subject of many of her songs like Dreams and Silver Springs — much as she is the subject of his biting numbers, Go Your Own Way, Never Going Back Again and Second Hand News — has always had a particularly symbiotic musical relationship with McVie. The chemistry in the way their voices intertwine — McVie’s out of British blues, Buckingham’s inspired by ’50s folk — on the blues-rock stomp of World Turning and the rock shuffle, Don’t Stop, proved intact.

A couple hours earlier, just after McVie’s power pop charmer, Everywhere, and his own edgy rocker, I Know I’m Not Wrong, Buckingham delivered Fleetwood Mac’s State of the Union. He singled out McVie for providing a reason to think about tomorrow.

“With her return I believe we begin a profound, poetic and prolific new chapter in the life of this band,” Buckingham said. Encouraging, and inspiring, given he’s 65, McVie’s 71, Nicks is 66 and the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are 67 and 69, respectively. Given how well these men and women performed, for nearly three hours, you fully believe Buckingham.

Indeed, McVie’s contribution is the necessary sunlight amid Nicks’ and Buckingham’s darker ruminations. This additional voice made the harmonies on her Say You Love Me, Over My Head and Little Lies, the latter done with considerably more edge and kick than its stuck-in-the-’80s studio version, as well as Nicks’ Dreams and Rhiannon, ring with clarity. She also seemed to inspired the others to deliver the best vocal performances we’ve heard from anyone in this outfit since the Reagan administration.

Sure, Nicks has lost her top range on Dreams and Sisters of the Moon. Buckingham’s voice is deeper.

But Nicks sang full-bodied and in-tune throughout, including on her showcase Gold Dust Woman and Seven Wonders, reintroduced thanks to its prominent use last season for Nicks’ witch character on FX’s American Horror Story: Coven. She dedicated Landslide to a fan who held a sign that said she’d had a stroke and that her bucket list wish was to see a Fleetwood Mac concert. Nicks responded, “I feel it in my heart. You’re going to be just fine.”

Buckingham had a regained suppleness and adventure in his phrasing that gave fresh nuance to Never Going Back Again, Big Love and the anguished I’m So Afraid. His inventive lead guitar playing, Flamenco style on Big Love; blues on I’m So Afraid; or classic rock soloing on Go Your Own Way, all played without a pick, elevates him among the greatest to play the instrument.

After an expertly paced 150-minute set, closed by McVie’s trademark promise of undying love, Songbird, a clearly grateful Fleetwood roared, “And remember, the Mac is most definitely back.”

No doubt, at 100 percent.

Review: Fleetwood Mac proves ageless in Sunrise show

By: Dave Osborn Posted: 1:58 PM, Dec 20, 2014 Naples Daily News

http://www.naplesnews.com/entertainm...-show_82612111

SUNRISE, Florida - If Fleetwood Mac never played music together again, the band's legacy would remain solid.

Yet there they were Friday night at the sold out BB&T center, each member at least 65 years old rocking hard for nearly three hours.

Stevie Nicks was strong as ever, as she wore black from head to toe, often spinning with her arms extended that showed her weblike full-length shawl. Lindsey Buckingham cranked out powerful guitar riffs effortlessly, bringing the 20,000 faithful repeatedly to their feet. He thanked them by throwing kisses.

The biggest ovation, though, was reserved for Christine McVie, at 71 the elder stateswoman of the band, who returned for the current tour that wraps up tonight at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. It's McVie who completes the Fleetwood Mac circle.

"This is our 39th show," Nicks announced. She welcomed back McVie, before saying: "I think the next best thing we can do is get this party started."

Fleetwood Mac kicked off by playing two dozen songs with "The Chain," followed by "You Making Loving Fun," and "Dreams."

Buckingham at one point told the crowd how the band has managed to "prevail through the good times and the bad."

"That's what makes us who we are," he said. With the return of McVie, he added, "I believe we're beginning a prolific, profound new chapter in the history of this band, Fleetwood Mac."

They stuck to a set list of songs played at other concerts, continuing to perform all their hits that included "Tusk," "Say You Love Me" and "Seven Wonders" that Nicks sings in an episode of the hit TV show "American Horror Story."

Nicks said the song on the show meant Fleetwood Mac reached 60 million viewers, which includes many younger fans learning about the band for the first time. "Thank you, ‘American Horror Story,' for doing that for us," she said.

Nicks and Buckingham — former lovers — performed one of the band's more introspective songs, "Landslide." At the end of it, Nicks reached out her hand to Buckingham as he grabbed it with his.

Buckingham's seasoned guitar playing in that song and every other was masterful, a legendary rocker at the top of his game. On many songs, Buckingham brought physicality to the stage, such as marching while playing "Tusk."

Nicks was stellar too, as she donned a draping, glittering gold shawl when singing "Gold Dust Woman," while the audience viewed her silhouette dancing with large high-definition screens flashing gold dust images.

Nicks later returned wearing a black top hat for the rest of the show, banging her signature tambourine as she walked to opposite ends of the stage as fans cheered and reached out to her.

Near the end of the show, original band founder Mick Fleetwood had fun with his drum solo as he yelled out phrases such as "Don't be shy!" to the crowd. He introduced accompanying musicians and band members, calling bassist John McVie "no doubt the backbone of Fleetwood Mac."

Yet the night belonged to Christine McVie, whose voice resonated pitch-perfect on every song including encores such as "Don't Stop."

Let's hope they never do.

Ok check out these videos. Stevie is totally pissed at Lindsey. He keeps trying to get her going. Check out the end of tusk, he tries to rock out with her and she just pretends he's not there. Same thing at the end of GYOW (one other night she even puts out her hand and says no). Then on Silver Springs at the end she says "go ahead and cry" while waving her fist.

Something about Florida that comes between them. Something in the air. Ha, same thing with Florida during the SYW tour, too.

[Letter to the Editor, Palm Beach Post]

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/ne...n-check/njZw6/

Boomers don’t leave until very last note

South Florida audiences have a well-deserved reputation for rude early exits from concerts. This fact made the sold-out crowd enjoying Fleetwood Mac’s Dec. 19 concert at the BB&T Center in Sunrise all the more remarkable.

As I turned to look up into a packed-to-the-rafters baby boomer crowd waiting for the group’s first encore — after two nonstop hours of hit songs — I literally got tears in my eyes from what could have passed for a planetarium show.

Back in “the day,” we used to “flick our Bics” in appreciation. But that night, the 15,000-plus fans were lighting up their iPhones and creating a galaxy of lights. Then it struck me: I had not seen a single person leave early.

What I did see were men and women — who were several decades too old to be wearing “skinny jeans” or miniskirts — magically transported back to our 20s for a couple of hours, and all sharing the time of our lives.

We rockers still knew how to party like we did during the Summer of Love, in 1967. That was back when no road-tripper worth his or her bellbottoms ever walked out early on Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Cream — or scores of other stadium acts — until the last note had been played.

The next morning, my aching 67-year-old knees reminded me that it probably wasn’t a good idea for me to have spent more than two hours dancing in the aisle. But it was nothing that a couple of extra Motrin or Aleve couldn’t cure.

Mick Jagger probably said it best: “I know it’s only rock ‘n’ roll, but I like it, like it, yes I do!”
