Default Lindsey guest spot on Blinker album

There is an album out called Still in Rome by a band called Blinker the Star. The last track, "What Have I Been Waiting For" features Lindsey on guitar. You can listen to a partial clip online here:

Question

Thanks for the news Les I kept hearing about how Lindsey had worked w/BTS but news on the record seemed to fizzle out and I forgot all about it.

Is it a sample or an actual LB guest appearance? (I can't get it to play on my antiquated set up)

John

Hi John,

Nope, not a sample, but actual playing! I had some trouble with the sound clip too. Even though it says click to play, I had to do the right-click to download to my PC first. Then I could play it. It is just a partial clip though and not the whole song.

Thanks, Les! The review in that link says that Lindsey contributes vocals as well.

Hey Les! Thanks for the heads up! I emailed someone from the Blinker the Star website questioning Lindsey's work on the album and got a reply. I thought I'd share it.
Hey Jessica,

First there's a bit of back story. When Blinker the Star were on Dreamworks,
Lindsey produced two songs for the band which have yet to be released or
completely finished. That was summer 2000. Two years later, when I was in LA finishing "Still in Rome" I hired the same engineer who worked with us on the Lindsey sessions. At the end of a day's work I mentioned wistfully how I wished we had Lindsey to play guitar and sing on "What Have I Been Waiting For".

Phone calls were made and several days later Lindsey came by the studio we were working at and laid down some tracks. He had not heard the music yet but quickly started coming up with ideas. He did the "hey hey hey" backup vocal parts as well as the arpegiated guitar intro which continues through most of the song. The guitar part is actually a comp of 3 separate parts Lindsey came up with. When I played them all together during mixing, I though it sounded great. Lindsey was a total sweetheart. He's been one of my main influences since I was 11 years old and I was perfectly chuffed to work with him. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jordon
Jessica

Hey Jessica!

Thanks so much for posting that! Very cool of him to share that information with you.

I'd seen some articles some time ago that said Lindsey was working as a producer for Blinker too, but I was thinking that maybe those tracks just got swallowed up when Blinker left Dreamworks and this track might be all that was left. But it's kinda cool to think these other tracks are still there and could maybe still surface one day.

Thanks again!
