Default Top 20 Lindsey Buckingham Songs

To celebrate the Fourth of July, I spent the weekend listening to the songs of Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine. So, to commemorate, I decided to make lists of my 20 favorite songs by each singer. I even think maybe I'll redo the lists every year on the Fourth weekend!

The parameters for my lists (though you may include whatever you like): (1) Solo and Fleetwood Mac tracks qualify; (2) Must be commercially released as music or video; (3) No cover songs; and (4) "The Chain" was exempt from all the lists (in many ways, that song belongs to John McVie's bass line anyway) -- though it is worthy of all of them.

Here's the list I developed for Lindsey, listed preferentially:

My Top 20 Lindsey Buckingham Songs

1. Go Your Own Way, Rumours (1977)
2. Save Me A Place, Tusk (1979)
3. Walk A Thin Line, Tusk (1979)
4. Second Hand News, Rumours (1977)
5. Monday Morning, Fleetwood Mac (1975)
6. I Know I'm Not Wrong, Tusk (1979)
7. That's All For Everyone, Tusk (1979)
8. Trouble, Law and Order (1981)
9. Holiday Road, National Lampoon's Vacation (Soundtrack) (1983)
10. What Makes You Think You're The One, Tusk (1979)
11. Steal Your Heart Away, Say You Will (2003)
12. Bleed To Love Her, The Dance (1997) & Say You Will (2003)
13. Go Insane, Go Insane (1984) & The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac (2002)
14. Red Rover, Say You Will (2003)
15. Tusk, Tusk (1979)
16. Countdown, Out Of The Cradle (1992)
17. Never Going Back Again, Rumours (1977)
18. Shut Us Down, Live At The Bass Performance Hall (2008)
19. Cast Away Dreams, Live At The Bass Performance Hall (2008)
20. Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind, Under The Skin (2006)

These are interesting. Hope LB sees this (and Itunes' list too) and gets some setlist ideas, beyond the usual suspects.

In No Particular Order

1. Walk A Thin Line (Tusk, 1979)
2. That's All For Everyone (Tusk, 1979)
3. Never Going Back Again (Rumours, 1977)
4. Shut Us Down (Under the Skin, 2006)
5. Come (Say You Will, 2003)
6. Down On the Rodeo (Under the Skin, 2006)
7. Tusk (Tusk, 1979)
8. Trouble (Law and Order, 1981)
9. Eyes of the World (Mirage, 1982 & Live in Boston, 2004)
10. Monday Morning (Fleetwood Mac, 1975)
11. I Must Go (Go Insane, 1984)
12. Caroline (Tango in the Night, 1987)
13. Without a Leg To Stand On (Buckingham Nicks, 1973)
14. Say Goodbye (Say You Will, 2003)
15. Go Insane (Go Insane, 1984)
16. Murrow Turning Over in His Grave (Say You Will, 2003)
17. Second Hand News (Rumours, 1977)
18. The Ledge (Tusk, 1979)
19. Miranda (Say You Will, 2003)
20. Crystal (Buckingham Nicks, 1973 & Fleetwood Mac, 1975) Does this count since Stevie wrote it? I always consider it a Lindsey song since he sang it on two albums and I didn't like Stevie's version of it. If not I would replace it with Tango in the Night.

Oh my God! I'm banging my head against the wall right now! This song SUCKS!!! But you don't suck Betsy. I adore you!!! We are all entitled to our own opinions and it's funny how you knew someone would give you flak for this. I remember back when this song was released as a single and I would deny I was FM's biggest fan. Barf-still hate this song to this day. I wonder if this entry will be at the top of anyones list?

The OP used Buckingham Nicks songs when they posted their top Stevie tracks (in the Stevie forum)...so I did the same. So if Faith decides to change it, I will too.

Agreed....I can't stand that song either. However, I can't talk since I like "Empire State" and would have put it on my list if I had more room.

Um, Oh Diane does not suck. It's just weird. I love it!!

I'm not good at these lists, but here's what I'll say for today...all official album versions unless otherwise indicated:

1. Turn It On
2. Go Insane ..."Dance" version
3. Shut Us Down
4. Bleed to Love Her
5. Instrumental intro + Don't Look Down
6. I Must Go
7. DW Suite
8. Countdown
9. That's Enough For Me
10.Red Rover
11.Without a Leg to Stand On
12.Eyes of the World ..."Live in Boston"
13.Slow Dancing
14.Book of Love
15.It Was I
16.Time Bomb Town
17.Miranda
18.Not That Funny..."Fleetwood Mac Live"
19.Secondhand News
20.Big Love

I left a LOT off of this list. In fact, this is hardly complete by any stretch of the imagination. I can name 20 more right now.

Sounds like me with Family Man and Empire State. It seems like a lot of folks don't like it, but I love it.

These lists are so great to read!!

Thank you for the amazon list, Betsy. VERY interesting!

As for the above... by CD I meant commercially released in music form or, by DVD, in video form (i.e. no bootlegs or demos).
