J.J. Cale was one of the greatest guitarists. His "Sensitive Kind" (1975) song appears based on Peter Green's "Black Magic Woman" 6 years earlier (1969).
Especially in this version of Eric Clapton - Don White, the similarity is quite clear. The song has also been varied by John Mayall and Carlos Santana. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8OhmTaNtRg Last edited by LeoL; 12-16-2020 at 06:13 AM.. |

The solos of a few guitarists are analyzed 50 years after the performance. However, this is the case with Peter Green. The secret of Green's magical sound is still being sought.
In the link below, a young guitar teacher unpacks Green’s live solo of B.B. From King’s blues “I’ve Got A Mind To Give Up Living (All Over Again),” which is considered one of the best guitar solos of all time. He knew nothing about Peter Green (only the name) until one of his students sent him that solo for analysis. Look at his reactions. He would definitely like to play as Peter Green - to be Peter Green. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTC4IbuhDWI |

Yet another recent analysis for those who want to play guitar like Peter Green did 50 years ago. At the end is a story about how Danny Kirwan joined the band.

Peter Green was the first one - the inventor - to put an awesome several minutes (5-10) long guitar solo at the end of a slow blues composition. That pattern has been repeated since then by countless guitar heroes - often in exactly the same way.
Here's one of them - Alvin Lee. You can probably find familiar features in the guitar solo at the end (starting at 4.00 min.) of the ”Bluesiest Blues”. (Listening to this, it comes to mind, how much more awesome the performance would be, if it included Peter Green's vocals and Peter Green's fingers around the neck of the guitar.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB6OlJqV1rQ Last edited by LeoL; 10-12-2021 at 06:07 AM.. |

Oh Well
Perhaps the best version after Peter Green did it - very loyal to the original version.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTfNINPcjU8
