I’m already starting to get the shakes. I don’t think I’m looking forward to this at all!

Ha!

It occurs to me that this is exactly what a Christine show/tribute should be. Christine doesn't take herself (or anyone else) anywhere near as seriously as that fiery, intense American duo (who shall remain unnamed on this subLedge). A celebration of Christine and her oeuvre should be fun, low-key, lighthearted, and candid. None of this over-scripted, over-produced, overblown fare.

Lest we forget, Christine was the one egging on Lindsey to foul-mouth the Classics tours in an interview. She was the one dancing a waltz while Her Holiness commanded the podium.

Orchestral backing, sure, but rein in the schmaltz (there's enough of that in her lyrics!). Add some mischief to the show.

There’s a new album of new arrangements of old songs. None of us are certain if these will feature new vocals. They might be instrumental versions or new arrangements using the original vocals. Christine has not specified either way and the interviewer didn’t ask for a distinction. I’m not sure if she’s being cagey because she wants to underplay the momentousness of full-on new versions (with new vocals) or if she is trying to divert us from the underwhelming possibility that these are either instrumentals or original vocals with fresh accompaniment.

I’m hoping it’s new vocals, new arrangements, but wouldn’t Christine have mentioned what it was like to sing these old songs in new ways? I’m annoyed that the reality (whatever it is) has been talked around.

I'd love new vocals and totally new recordings, but I'm afraid it's just going to be a bunch stuff overdubbed onto the original recordings. I hope I'm wrong!

Seriously, that's why I'm not that excited. I don't think this is going to be much.

I’m reading digests of her interview in the news and it’s interesting to see how reporters are automatically assuming that she, along with the producers, just finished recording new versions. But her own language has not confirmed this. We know her well enough to expect she’d say something about the process and the experience of being back in the studio—so why the silence unless she’s deliberately trying to sidestep what this project actually is.

I hope to god I’m wrong.

You're not wring. She's what 77 or 78 years old? I mean my grandma couldn't walk at that point. I appreciate she will be celebrated, but this isn't anything new or exciting. It's almost like looking at their setlists.

Man, it's hard watching your heroes, which are hard to find, get old and approaching the inevitable. Because I'm getting older, too.

I'll be glad for what we get, but my hopes aren't up too much for what it will be.

Although I’m not making plans, I don’t want to know the reasons why she can’t go back and redo the vocals. Even at 78, she’s still more than the face of a pretty girl.

Yeah, but the frog in her throat on the Tusk doc is now an army of frogs. Why? I don't wanna know.

YOU ARE speculating my fears. Hopefully our Northern Star will Think About It and stop feeding us calumnies.

I have a feeling the new album will be along the lines of …”Elvis with the Royal Philharmonic orchestra”….(something like that)…If I can Dream.

In other words taking her old stuff and adding an orchestra.
I hope not but realistically, she’s 78
I don’t think her voice will be good enough..I hope I’m wrong

Thinking about it though, how would that work…does her old material with Fmac belong to her. I don’t mean the written song, I mean the Mac recording???…say Songbird, the Rumours version.
Would she now be able to use Fmac recordings …..and have them enhanced , I don’t think she would.
So……..maybe it will be new recordings of her voice…maybe.
