Thank you for posting that, Les.

This spate of recent Micks interviews, and his mentions of the new album, have really whet my appetite.

YAY!!!! Its good to be hearing these updates!!! It makes me worried that they are still working on the album though...I hope they meet that early next year plan!

For those interested in the interview, but not able to access the video too well, the Nicksfix posted one excerpt, and Jessica posted a longer one from this interview on her site:

Default That darn double album issue

Mick once again talks about a double album. This has been discussed before, along with the sales ramifications, but it's worth asking again . . .

Does a "double album" necessarily mean two discs? Tusk (20 songs?) was fit onto one CD. I wonder, could this be the size of the upcoming album?

Well Tusk *was* a double album with the vinyl they had to work with at the time. Assuming that Mick knows the running time of a CD (and judging by his recent contributions in the computer world, I say he does), and the fact that Stevie alone contributed another batch on top of 18 songs, I'd say we're in for a good 30-35 new songs. Makes sense.....right?

Keep in mind that Tusk was fit into one CD after at least one song, Sara, was edited down.

Brian, I'd love to get 30 or 35 songs, but I think we're looking at probably 20 or so.

Thumbs up I read it...

and the mention of Mick saying he was getting the "John Bonham" groove sounded very interesting...I wonder if there may be some very hard-rock sounding material on the album?? Would be cool to hear IMO, Brian

Yeah, the thought of Lindsey playing "hard rock" is very intriguing.
But, Mick also mentions alot of acoustic "finger picking" things too...

...so I'm inclined to believe that Lindsey's songs are going to be MORE than familiar to most of us (read: "Gift Of Screws")...probably re-recorded with Mick & John and slightly rearranged.

I'm hoping that he's written some NEWER things to include than those.

About "Tusk"...they cut "Sara" because the industry standard for CD length AT THE TIME was 65 minutes. Now its 74...so they conceivably remaster the "Tusk" CD and include the original length "Sara" without going over that time.

That's why Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland" and Clapton's "Layla" CDs were originally released as a two-disc sets..but now are both a single disc. And, that's why Prince's "1999" and Jethro Tull's "Bursting Out" CDs had songs omitted altogether so that they could be issued as single disc sets, but after the industry upped the standard, they were re-released with the omitted tracks reinstated. Why didn't they do that with "Tusk", I wonder??
