Default Sheryl Crow adopted a baby boy!

This was posted on her website:

Hey Everybody,

I am so excited to share with you guys that I've adopted a little boy... he was born 2 weeks ago.

His name is Wyatt (after my dad) Steven (after my little brother and Scooter) and we are enjoying some very private family time.

Just wanted you to be the first to know.

Lots of love,
Sheryl.

Congrats to Sheryl!

I dig Sheryl.
I love her music.
I think she's hot.
Good for her for fulfilling her need to raise a child.
She has the means to give this little boy everything money can buy.
Um, except a father.

On that count, I have to say, poor little boy.

would you feel differently if she had adopted a girl?

hopefully there will be someone in his life who will act as a paternal figure, but he'll probably have a better life with sheryl than he will in foster care.

Maybe a bit. But not that much.

Perhaps there will be. Or perhaps not.

Better than foster care? Yeah. Better than being left in a box in an alley too.

Point being...

I believe she has a brother and her father is still alive. I doubt the child will lack a strong male influence in his life. I would much rather see it that way than in some dysfunctional parental relationship where the parents are together for the sake of the children.
It always slays me when people who don't even have children think they know how to write the book on how to raise them.

Uncles and Grandparents aren't fathers.
It's always easy to compare anything to a horror story to make it look good, re: the dysfunctional parent schtick. I mean, I'd sure rather have a broken arm than 2 broken arms, and a tumor. So, I can survive a broken arm.
Broken arm, not so bad

I don't have children, no. But I was a little boy at one time. And I wouldn't have traded my Dad for 6 rich and famous mothers and all the extended family in the world. Being a parent...no experience. Having a dad, I did that for 32 years. Please, find me a man who will say his father was unimportant, and taught him things anyone could have. And no, guys with ****ty male parents who were drunks or abusers don't count.

It is just supremely ironic to me that she can give a kid every material thing on earth, but the one thing I think was most valuable to me as a kid, she didn't bother to do. The world is a funny place.

A message from the Fifties?

Congratulations to Sheryl Crow.

No. A message from someone who thinks fathers aren't irrelevant.
