Default Sheryl Crow adopted a baby boy!

This was posted on her website:

Hey Everybody,

I am so excited to share with you guys that I've adopted a little boy... he was born 2 weeks ago.

His name is Wyatt (after my dad) Steven (after my little brother and Scooter) and we are enjoying some very private family time.

Just wanted you to be the first to know.

Lots of love,
Sheryl.

Congrats to Sheryl!

I dig Sheryl.
I love her music.
I think she's hot.
Good for her for fulfilling her need to raise a child.
She has the means to give this little boy everything money can buy.
Um, except a father.

On that count, I have to say, poor little boy.

would you feel differently if she had adopted a girl?

hopefully there will be someone in his life who will act as a paternal figure, but he'll probably have a better life with sheryl than he will in foster care.

Maybe a bit. But not that much.

Perhaps there will be. Or perhaps not.

Better than foster care? Yeah. Better than being left in a box in an alley too.

Point being...

my point is just that there are too many babies and not enough people willing to care for them. so if someone is willing and able to take care of a child, that is a valuable thing, even if it's not the ideal setup.

I respect that point. It is better than no home or some fukced up insitutional bounce job.

Still a bit of a bummer to me though.

If you have such a strong opinion on adoption, I would love to know what you think about artificial insemination

i can dig that. maybe i place less value on the importance of a father figure because i was raised without one.

Could be. I don't think they're replacable or irrelevant.
People don't die without them, but I think kids need Dads.
Boys especially.
