I've listened to countless Mirage shows and Tusk with Sisters of the moon. The L.A. Forum show she does something I've not heard her do before with the "Sister, brother, sister, brother" This version is also the only one I heard her speak in tongues. Dear God the blow must have been so good that night in addition she was hamming it up for HBO.
I watched YMLF but did not see a clothing change. However the close up in the end of Stevie (yeah yeah) she's got some sort of cape on? Is this close up of Nicks and her "yeah yeah" part edited in? I love the HBO show and we could spend forever dissecting the good, bad, awesome, crazy, blah blah blah. One part that I LOVE because its pure camera effect you would never see today is when the Chain is going strong near the end of the vocals and the camera is on Stevie close up. The camera goes out of focus to then focus on Chris's close up. That's the way it was done in those days but that effect is so cool and prove its really live stuff. I always thought Stevie looked stoned during Gypsy but her vocals are perfect. I also love the side eye Chris gives Stevie when she comes on stage during YMLF. It may not have meant what it looks like but it really stands out. "Go back in the tent and do your blow darling, this is my song. You are not needed."

Me, too. Leave the show as is. Quit messing with it.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist! I really dislike that song and never understood what the appeal is to other people. |

NTF is awesome. Honestly, I'm So Afraid bores the sh*t out of me most of the time except when witnessing the solos in person, up close, in concert. I'll take NTF over ISA any day of the week.

Both from that Mirage live era are so much fun.

On another note, gosh I love Christine's keyboard playing on sisters. Its so haunting and so signature Christine. Could you imagine the stories some of these camera men could tell if they are still alive.

Heads up - it looks like NTF is the edited version If you zoom in on the image of the CD packaging you'll see "9:06" next to the song title on the disc.
I bet some idiot edited the tape back in the day and the entire version doesn't even exist anymore OR the full length version would prevent the entire show fitting on two discs. We're only talking about 2-ish additional minutes. I haven't had enough coffee to do that kind of math.

So it seems the difference with the 2016 Deluxe Disc 3 is the songs not included there. If so, I would only buy those songs, if allowed, and avoid the entire album. Don't wanna more duplicated versions in my library.

Fast forward to the Live Deluxe package and additional songs like Brown Eyes were released that were not originally on the HBO video. It's possible that AFTER the 2016 Mirage Deluxe package, they found the actual master tapes which led to the additional tracks on the Live Deluxe and now this stand alone release. TLDR: the sound quality on this set could be better than the 2016 tracks. We don't have anything to compare yet. We can preview Don't Stop, but that wasn't part of the 2016 tracks.

There's a guy that works on all of the recent Little Feat releases at Rhino who also posts on a music message board. He's definitely shared his experience in unearthing live tapes that were presumed lost that were later discovered. Even with folks working diligently to organize all the material in the vault storage facilities, they're still discovering reels placed in the wrong box, or content on reels not labeled etc. I'm definitely curious if they've had the masters since 2016 or if they were recently discovered.

Does anyone know who is actually developing this release? What I mean, I remember when the Dance was coming out, and Lindsey said in an interview that he and the record company disagreed about which songs to include on the MTV Special; he said he had fought for Gypsy to be aired because it had wasn’t on as many releases as other FM/Stevie songs. And on the Deluxe Editions, it seems like Lindsey chose many of the outtakes and alternate takes, and chose the songs for the Live rerelease. For this Mirage release, I’m curious if Lindsey was the one who did the splicing in Sisters of the Moon, for example. I just can’t see an executive doing something like that, but I could see Lindsey or someone else in the band doing it. And since was fired, it seems unlikely he’d be doing anything behind the scenes with this release.
So to sum up this long question- does anyone think it was the band who made the editing decisions for the special? Or that anyone in the band is playing an active role in the new release? |

It's doubtful they have much involvement beyond legally signing off on it. However, with most of them selling their publishing...I don't know how much that even impacts the need for them to sign off on anything. Rhino/Warners own the masters.
I had a brief exchange with the guy who works on all of the Little Feat remasters/reissues. He mentioned that Rhino has a whole separate team that handles Fleetwood Mac releases, he specifically works on the team doing the Little Feat work. I am a little surprised that camp Stevie signed off on this one, especially since she's not a fan of her more coked up performances. Then again, she might not have that much leverage to block it.
