I never got in FM trouble either, although I hated myself years later for giving away all my FM 8 tracks. I did recently find Rumours on 8 track, but what are the odds that I'll ever find Tusk? Slim to none...
I love how some 8 tracks clicked in the middle of the track! hahah

I’m nuts about SYLM.

But my post was about hearing Over My Head

I've always preferred SYLM over OMH. I'm surprised OMH was a hit, because it's pretty damned sleepy.

Although I LOVE the version on 1980 Live.

I would probably agree but the Single Version of Over My Head rocks. You rarely hear it these days because of the CD programming on stations. The single version has Lindsey's guitar turned up so you can catch the groove and the organ is turned down. The music is so Fleetwood Mac. You can hear Mick, John, and Christine's vintage playing and look out the new kid on the block is plucking along.

Please dont start with that groove thing again. Dear Lord, either its too hard rock COME or no beat OH DADDY. Each are gems no matter what you say. Get with the program or get banned.

Oh. Same comment though. Love OMH. Do not like Show Me a Smile. I guess I am incapable of hearing musical similarities between songs. Like I said to George Harrison, “My Sweet Lord” is so original. I’ve never heard anything like it in my life.

OMH allows for such vocal expression. It is better than anything she has on Tusk, except TAM.

Ban me. Honey Hi, Brown Eyes, and Oh Daddy are perfection.

But at least you never forget to take your daddies with sugar.

See, I think her vocals on Never Forget and Honey Hi are VERY persuasive. Either one of those songs would have fit perfectly alongside OMH on the white album.

Macfan begat this banning process.

Think About Me is the GREATEST FM song of all time! There, I said it. The beat. The guitar. The every f*cking thing about it. Perfektion.

And Sugar Daddy is the second greatest FM song of all time! I play along with it, nearly every evening. Organ with my left hand, piano with my right(I only do piano on the verses until the F#m part kicks in, then it's organ time).

Your mileage may vary. Don't get bant.

New rules: Any Oh Daddy bashing gets 4-6 week ban. The music alone is so Fleetwood mac that you dont need vocals to know who it is playing. How can you be a fan of this band and not appreciate this music track.

The only thing that saved you is your praise of Sugar Daddy. I'm calling it a wash so I wont blow the whistle. Its odd you like Never Forget which really does not have the beat that you say you crave. Let’s have consistency here. Your mood is like a circus wheel. You’re changing all the time .

Warm Ways is simply a beautiful song. As is Crystal because of the brits.
Sugar Daddy is such a tight, wonderful arrangement with some humor from Christine.
SYLM is just plain hitmaker central city!
OMH is a slow moving, less chords, plea for someone's love. (LB)
Hold Me is a wonderful moving vocal with great guitar and piano.
Everywhere is a lesson in melody with hooks, sprinkled with window dressing.
Wish You Were Here is a beautiful ode to Dennis. Her BuckVie version (Milwaukee) blows me away and gave me a teary eyes. Even with worn out tools its fantastic.
Only Over You is another moment in time about Dennis. Beautiful outro and arrangement.
Brown Eyes is just very sexy and jazzy. What's not to love? Great percussion and keys.
Honey Hi is a demonstration of all 3 singers' gifts.
Carnival Begin is a story about a lost lady who found herself again. Beautiful melody and strings.

I could go on and on but I don't want to confuse those who aren't as emotionally intelligent as I!!!

Love you all....xoxoxoxox

In the movie Bonnie and Clyde, after the police shoot Gene Wilder, and he's laying there dying, Estelle Parsons, in that HORRIBLE voice of hers, keeps screaming, "OH DADDY.....OH DADDY....PLEASE DON'T DIE.....OH DADDDDDDDDDY!!!!!"

If that's not enough to tarnish those words for life, I don't know what is. Bant me.

The interesting thing about Oh Daddy for me is how it takes on many different forms depending on what performance I am listening to. In 1978 when I was playing the Rumours album on a daily basis it was a track I would skip over every time. It simply bored me. Then throughout my bootleg album faze in the late 70's and early 80's it was a run to the bathroom song. Because it was always performed right after Rhiannon it made it harder for me to get into because I had the powerhouse Rhiannon followed by the 'let me slow you down' Oh Daddy, when I wanted to continue rocking out. But then in the 1990's when my bootleg collection really expanded I took the time to really get to know this and greatly appreciated Christine's vocals in the live setting. The Tusk tour versions are my fave. 1980 was the peak performance of this song as far as I am concerned.

I will admit when I bought Rumours and listened to it the first few times it was my least favorite song on the album. But over the years the music track has grown on me and it is pure magic. It makes me want to put on a cape and dance around a foggy sunrise somewhere in England. It has that impact on me. Oddly enough, Only Over You was my least favorite on Mirage the first year and Storms was my least favorite on Tusk. It took me years to appreciate those songs and realize how brilliant they are. The trouble is they are not what I would call "surface songs." They are deeper than just your typical album song. I can listen to Chris's keyboard playing forever on Oh Daddy. I really wish there was an extended 15 minute version. Mick's percussion is so cool and Lindsey's guitar meshed with Chris's playing can raise the hair on my neck.
I agree with you that Oh Daddy is hard to get that magic on stage. I also agree the Tusk tour versions are best. The Buck/Vie tour in small venues would have been such an opportunity for the song.
