Default "Bleed To Love Her" (studio version)

Is it just my ears, or is Stevie barely on this?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nuapLE4trg

Yes her voice is turned down but she is there. Chris supposedly is on this track too.
I think the live version gave us a different take on the back up vocals.

Its been a long time (to remember) but didn't the band record this in the studio before the Dance and then it got touched or re-recorded for SYW and they kept some of Christine's vocals in.

It was Stevie’s voice that was added for SYW. Christine’s voice was on BTLH already same with Steal Your Heart Away.

I recall that I’d read that Chris only sings on BTLH but not SYHA and that it was her keyboards that feature on both. Now Wikipedia says she sings on both, but only plays on SYHA.

Wikipedia is correct on this score.

I always thought the mmmmms in SYHA were at least partly Chris. It sounds like her, at least to me.. especially from abut 2:35 onwards. I could be wrong.

Christine is singing on Steal Your Heart Away and Bleed to Love Her on the studio versions recorded years before the Say You Will recording sessions. Stevie’s vocals were added after the fact.

Steal Your Heart Away was originally released, sans Stevie, in 1997 on a CD Best Buy gave out to concert goers. It was exactly the same.

I remember someone saying they thought Chris was more prominent in the 1997 version and that they’d shoved her further down in the mix in 2003, for obvious reasons. Anyway I’d have loved to have heard the earlier one for comparison purposes

I was so excited, and they took it down.

I had that cd at one time. Yes—it’s the exact same performance minus some harmonies added by Stevie during SYW.

What irritates me is that this example shows LB is willing to open a can and add another layer when it’s Stevie, but he didn’t do so for Christine on his five BuckVie tracks recorded before her arrival. Christine’s harmonies would have only improved his songs, especially “In My World,” “Love Is Here to Say,” and “OWTS.”
