Interesting how Stevie interpreted the firing of Lindsey. She basically says in a round about way, It's him or me. I'll stay if he goes. I'll go if he stays. Just like saying the word Potato two different ways.

basically, Stevie confirms she pulled it was him or me, to get him fired.

and Azoff confirms he then made it happen, so he can keep collecting money. maybe he is now FM band member like he is for Eagles?

I thought this was a rather more balanced version of the LA Times piece -- you can see that it makes a difference that there wasn't a pro-Stevie bias in the reporter. Don't get me wrong, Lindsey is a prickly guy, and he's giving the quotes, so that much is not bias. But he's a prickly guy in a band filled with deeply flawed people, and that makes a difference. I do think the correct take here is a pox on all your houses, while debunking some of the lies FM has put out there. But that's not likely to happen.

To coin a familiar phrase, I'd say he's burnt his bridges now...

I feel the same way. I doubt very much we ever see the five on stage together again. For Stevie to put out a statement and to get Irving to do the same, says she's still very pissed. LOL. But I am glad that we now finally have it laid out there. Ugly as it is. Stevie has always said Lindsey was jealous of her. I agree, back in the early 80's maybe. But now, it's the other way around.

Another great interview! Lindsey made some really telling points here, and I love his, not just honesty, but insight I guess is the word I’m looking for. Especially his comments about being 50 when Kristen was 30, and now he’s 70 and she’s 50. So glad he’s healthy and making new music, against all odds.

All this messy stuff has made it to the pages of the UK's The Guardian newspaper:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...-reignite-feud

They managed to get the title of Lindsey's new album wrong - surely a self-titled record isn't that difficult to remember...

and into the industry publications also.
Variety reports that he blames Stevie and Azoff and says they came back with "fierce rebuttals" and stating that Azoff's response was "one for the books" ( as in, will go down in the history books)

https://variety.com/2021/music/news/...ff-1235059607/

ETA: Looks like they have fixed the album title because it now reads that it is a self-titled album

Me too! It's utterly ridiculous that he'd even want to go back. I hope he keeps calling her every name in the book, where The Queen will NEVER allow him back.

“It’s unfortunate that Lindsey has chosen to tell a revisionist history of what transpired in 2018 with Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks wrote to “Rolling Stone.” “His version of events is factually inaccurate, and while I’ve never spoken publicly on the matter, preferring to not air dirty laundry, certainly it feels the time has come to shine a light on the truth. Following an exceedingly difficult time with Lindsey at MusiCares in New York, in 2018, I decided for myself that I was no longer willing to work with him. I could publicly reflect on the many reasons why, and perhaps I will do that someday in a memoir, but suffice it to say we could start in 1968 and work up to 2018 with a litany of very precise reasons why I will not work with him. To be exceedingly clear, I did not have him fired, I did not ask for him to be fired, I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it. I have championed independence my whole life, and I believe every human being should have the absolute freedom to set their boundaries of what they can and cannot work with. And after many lengthy group discussions, Fleetwood Mac, a band whose legacy is rooted in evolution and change, found a new path forward with two hugely talented new members.
Once the martyr, always the martyr...

And I wonder what made Musicares so difficult. I mean, apart from hating the fact that he brought his family with him, and the crickets thing at the beginning of The Chain, what possibly could've made that night so "exceedingly difficult"?

The poor woman suffered in silence for 50 years. I distinctively remember her looks of adoration and not of hate during those 50 years.

Yeah, she didn't have him fired... but she had him fired.

Lindsey Buckingham, May 11, 2018.

He loaded them with TNT this time and then set them ablaze! And I’m here for every moment of it. She wanted drama and to lie and act like a turd, this is the outcome. I will forever love the music they made but at this juncture, I see no point in a Fleetwood Mac reunion. I’m kind of thinking LB doesn’t care either after some of the comments he made in these interviews.

We all know that, for most of the planet, Fleetwood Mac is basically about us watching them squabble and fall apart over and over again, rather like the Royal Family here in the UK. Nobody is really interested in the boring stuff - 'this is a new song'/'Prince William has opened a new mental health charity' - what we want is scandal! 'Lindsey Buckingham reignites feud with Stevie Nicks!'/'Is William cheating on Kate?' That's what they're there for now.

I think it's fascinating that this has all blown up in the same week that ABBA released their new songs and announced a new album and show. They were always being compared in the 70s, weren't they? Loved-up couples singing songs about themselves, then bitter splits and break-up records... The difference seems to be that ABBA have turned out to be emotionally mature adults, who recognise what their legacy means to their millions of fans (and to themselves), and have come together again for one last wonderful project, while there's still time.

Fleetwood Mac, on the other hand, just serve us another bowlful of bile en route to the retirement home, and torpedo the chance to give their story a meaningful ending.

Lindsey hasn't said anything that he hasn't said before. But now Stevie has had enough and finally answered back. And not very well in my opinion. A lot of people may be mad at him, but I say it's about time to call them out. What they did to him was wrong and the truth in the end always wins.
