Neil sounds really good on Man of the world, not so much on Blue Letter

“Man of the World” one of my absolute favourite FMac songs.
It’s a great song with great lyrics and Peters voice is so sad and meaningful.

Well this IS a surprise...apparently 'Man of the world' was last played in 1969!!!It sounds and looks good: vocals suit Neil and guitar is spot on. Haven't seen/heard 'Blue Letter ' yet.....again, surprised to see this in- but ,then again, they did it in 1987/88 with a new line up. I guess it's a 'safe' sort of song to do. Interesting that the two additions are Neil on vocals....possibly because of where they are on tour now.

"Man of the World" - I'm really pleased they played that. I remember Neil saying a long time ago that they had rehearsed it as well as "Hypnotised". I'm saddened but not terribly surprised to hear the muted audience reaction, though....

Did Peter ever play it live with FM? I've never heard a boot of it..

Sheffield 18th March and Helsinki 24th September 1969 apparently.
Nice to hear them play it. Mike Campbell's tone doesn't approach the piercing feel of Peter Green's recorded version though.

completely agree with everything you said! and yeah just read that - first time since 1969! it would be so unbelievably cool - IF the last year didn't happen. now just makes me sad and i can't even listen to it. and it's a gorgeous gorgeous song.

as someone reminded us, Neil and Mike played it at Largo in LA but audience reaction was meh so Fakewoods never put it in the set. guess now in Neil territory Neil must have some pull and they put it in.

as you say Blue Letter is a safe song Lindsey-less versions of FM tend to perform - that one was last performed in 1990 apparently, so not much of a surprise there. but Man of the World, definitely a surprise, especially since it happened at the 2nd show of the leg. completely not Mick/Stevie's normal MO.

and yeah 10 songs Neil on lead or co-lead, 7 Stevie, and 7 Christine is definitely something Lindsey would never ever be allowed to do if he was in Neil's place! not to mention his own solo songs - or even better - BuckVie? can you imagine?? he would be raked over coals even more than he has been for years now. how dare he!

I vaguely kinda sorta remember once seeing/ hearing a bootleg album of an early 1975 FM show with Man of the World being performed. Lindsey must have been the one singing lead.

I think you are right. I remember hearing him do it, too.

Literally no idea why this happened, but a former Texas Longhorn (HOOK'EM!) and current Indiana Pacers basketball player Myles Turner handed Mike Campbell his guitar at their Sydney show today/last night. He's currently on the U.S. National Team, which is playing in the 2019 FIBA World Cup tournament in Sydney. That's about all I know at this point, just passing it along:

https://twitter.com/Original_Turner/...31769567744000

UPDATE: It looks like he's genuinely a fan. Here's an excerpt from an April Indy Star story:

To punctuate the back-to-school lesson, Cousins issued a taunt after Turner complained about a whistle against him: “You a baby.”

It was like old times. Now Turner flips insults about his toughness into motivation. He's not the high-schooler who'd go back to suburbia in tears after being psyched out to believe that he wasn't good enough.

He knew to earn their respect, he had to kill it. The same went for Cousins. They don't actually care that he listens to Fleetwood Mac, how well he enunciates or if he sleeps in silk pajamas.

All of that ribbing took his mind away from where it belonged: On the basketball court.

He earned their respect despite listening to FM. Imagine that.
