Its from a Joni Mitchell tribute album that was to be released in 2000, but got vaulted & most definitely will never see the light of day.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Nobody should EVER hear that again...all copies should be gathered, deleted, burned, and those who have heard or seen it had electroshock therapy to erase their memory of ever hearing or seeing it performed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STEP AWAY FROM LINDSEY's PERFORMANCE OF IT...IT'S EVIL....VERY VERY EVIL!! EVEN THE DEVIL HIMSELF REFUSES TO LISTEN TO IT!!!

I'm not joking around.

It's God damned awful. Lindsey's better suited to doing Rolling Stones, Donovan, Joni Mitchell, Kingston Trio & Bob Dylan covers....he should stay FAR away from attempting any Beatle covers.

Even mild mannered George Harrison would hammer a wooden stake through Lindsey's heart had he been alive to hear how Lindsey butchered his song. But, that brings up another point...HAD George Harrison been alive, Lindsey never would've attempted to cover one of George's songs. Which would've been a helluva relief for all concerned.

Chilli has beans in his ears. Lindsey does this song in the same way he "butchered" Donovan's To Try For The Sun. It's just that Harrison is God to most of the people on earth, that makes this is not accepted. I personally adore this interpretation. As I love the Steve Harley-version too. Chili and I will fight to death over this.

I just can NOT imagine that someone who likes Lindsey's idiosyncracities can disapprove with this. It's so heartfelt honest, out of tune, from the soul, punkattitudely done, that I'll always treasure it.

Have we gotten to the point that the needless screaming/exaggerated pawing of the guitar treatment (which he also gives a handful of his other songs too these days) is a passable (if not even commendable) artistic idiosyncrasy? A profound artistic statement?

As I've said before, when I watched this performance live, I was almost surprised that "SUNNNNNNN, SUNNNNNN, HERE IT COMMMMMMMES!" wasn't followed with a gentle guitar outro & "She's a lot... like... you". The Lindsey of 1979 would think the Lindsey of 2000 was lazy & unimaginative.
