![]() Dolly has already done that years ago. She released 3 stellar bluegrass albums in a row. One of the albums has a bluegrass version of Stairway to Heaven, which sounds like a nightmare, but is actually quite good. She also has the Trio albums with minimum production that are quite nice.
You're right though, the Rick Rubin produced Johnny Cash albums are his finest. And I purposely have not heard anything from RockStar yet because the thought of it sounds horrible. Not only do I feel she is too old to do a rock album, but I'm afraid most of the singers on it are not in the best shape vocally. Not to mention that most of the songs that she is covering are classic and I don't see how she could do them justice much less improve them. I'm sure I'll eventually get it, but I can't imagine listening to it more than a time or two. I think that Dolly realizes that she has nothing to prove at this point. I have to give her credit she has some big names on RockStar and she has been promoting it for months. There is even a limited showing of a promotional film in theaters to promote the album. Quote:

![]() I think Dolly wanted something intentionally silly because, if we’re being honest, even she thinks it’s ridiculous she was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. This album comes off as being part of a bigger gag, and it’s Dolly, so if it’s gonna be ridiculous, it’s gonna be RIDICULOUS!

![]() And Stevie isn’t nominated for the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame this year. There are plenty of artists who are in both halls too.

![]() She sang The Rose beautifully. It’s interesting how Stevie can sell so many tickets but her solo work hasn’t won Grammys, it took 13 years after her eligibility to be inducted into the Rock Hall (also a shame for Tina as well that it took way too long), her 2 solo albums in the Glee, AHS, and Twitter era didn’t debut at #1, and she’s not in the Songwriter Hall when it seems she’s proudest to be a singer-songwriter.

But truthfully, as for songwriting, she's been resting on her 1970s laurels for a long, long looooooong time now, and quite possibly some of those are in truth collaborations by partners who didn't insist on credit at the time.

![]() It's interesting Sheryl Crow and Lady Gaga have mostly co-writes for her most famous songs. Did Stevie wholly write the music for her most famous songs without help?

![]() What happened to Sheryl Crow? I'm not sure really has stood the test of time and can really draw a crowd. She was most decorated female rocker of the 90s and I like a lot of her albums, but she has totally faded. No one talks about her.

![]() She went all woke and obnoxious and basically told 1/2 her fan base that she doesn't want their money. Had her first 4 or 5 albums. I wrote her off years ago. Go woke. Go broke. It's true.
