I'd have been interested in a Stevie Nicks/Lionel Richie or Janet Jackson/Stevie Nicks concert tour.

Something different instead of a soft rock show.

Big talker. We all know you have your mock Stand Back shawl sitting in Woolite and are practicing your frankenbok twirls.

Billy Joel puts on a hell of a show although I’m going off the one show I attended probably over 15 years ago and what I’ve seen of him over the years in videos. I believe like all the others in that age bracket, he’s a lot less animated on stage and singing in much lower keys than he used to. I’d almost be half tempted to see this given how good of a show Billy does and how his songbook is full of classics. But alas, it ain’t coming here and I’m not planning/booking travel to see septuagenarians anymore.

I’m curious where they’ll duet. Leather and Lace seems likely. But what song of his? New York State of Mind? Some of the lyrics of Big Shot would be on point.

I would see Billy Joel despite his age, I don’t expect older people to quit performing because they’re not as agile as they were 20 years ago. I saw Dolly Parton before the pandemic and she was great. Well, I thought she was great, even though she didn’t use a screen and she didn’t move around like she used to. Just like people saying Lindsey was more subdued this last tour. I’m thrilled he, Dolly, Stevie, Billy, Elton John, Pat Benatar, Diana Ross etc are still performing.

As to possible duets, I know one song Macfan4life would love to hear- Two Kinds of Love, originally performed by Stevie and Bruce Hornsby. Being a piano man, that would seem an obvious choice for Billy, except it was a bomb as a single.

And it was a bomb live too. It was horrible in an arena and a stadium would be worse. I bet they don't perform on each other's stage. But who knows. I see Billy singing SDMHA more than leather and lace.

I heard the live version from her tour in Texas and it actually sounded great. I think Two Kinds of Love would be a great choice, but since it’s so unknown, it just seems unlikely.

BTW, I saw on the back of the Stand Back collection, for disc 2 which has mostly duets, every song either says ‘with or featuring’ Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, Kenny Loggins, etc but Two Kinds of Love doesn’t mention Bruce Hornsby at all.

Does anybody have any idea why his name was left off? Seems very odd.

You must have been doing shrumes. I like the song Two Kinds of Love but OMG it was cringeworthy live. The music was good and Stevie did a good job but her duet partner was auditioning for American Idol 15 years in advance. He was trying to do Mariah Carey before she was known. In her klonopin haze she could not see the disaster that it was.

Maybe they should do one of his big anthems or one of the big Fleetwood Mac anthems.
  • We Didn’t Start the Fire
  • Uptown Girl
  • Say Goodbye to Hollywood
  • Go Your Own Way

Not exactly duets but songs where Billy and Stevie and all the backup singers just go hogwild at the end of both individual sets. Cheesy, but it’s what puts the chili in the mole.

Can you imagine Stevie trying to get the words to We Didn't Start the Fire right? She'd probably just riff her own autobiographical version, then halfway through give up and launch into one of her interpretive dances.

Desert child, Stephanie, you can call me Stevie
Arizona, Greyhound, moving to a new town
California Dreaming, shacking up with Lindsey
Fleetwood Mac, doing crack, letting all the fans down

Welsh witches, waitressing, cleaning lady, woe is me
Leaving Fritz, Rumours hits, I'm Queen of Rock and filthy rich
Tusk flops, Lindsey irks, why must he be such a jerk?
Bella Donna on the floor, I can't take it any more!

I didn't fire Lindsey
But my walls were burning
When he started smirking
I didn't fire Lindsey
But now he is gone
I can ramble on and on and on....

With every tour we always think they are going to be creative and do new things. We are always wrong. So much speculation. My money is its going to be a typical Stevie set with no Billy and then Billy performing his set without Stevie.
And Stevie will pretty much do her 24k Gold set that she mostly did these past months.
NOTHING EVER CHANGES

Remember about 10 years ago when Stevie was preparing to play Vegas. She did interviews how she was going to possibly use a cordless mic because the stage was so big and she was practicing all sorts of songs that have not been done for a long time. What did we end up with? The same set she always does.
