Question New Movies

I'm probably in the minority here because I have not seen that Star Wars movie, but I've seen the movie, "Joy". I liked it, & I think Jennifer Lawrence was really good in it. Has anyone else seen this movie or any other movie besides Star Wars?

I haven't seen either, but did see The Hateful Eight. I'm a die hard Tarentino fan, and would recommend it, but did like it less than most of his other movies. Of course, that's still better than 90% of the movies that are out there.

I haven't seen "Joy" but I recently saw "The Revenant" which was simply stunning! The first thing I took away from the film was how amazing Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki used his "brushes" as a constant reminder that BEAUTY, often unobserved, is always the overseer of BRUTALITY. Secondly, this is this first film I have ever seen where CGI is an absolute neccesity. The bear attack, while not the most violent thing I've ever seen, is certainly the scariest thing I've ever seen. It's realism is sublime, as is the acting, the emotion and the story within.

I also recently saw "The Hateful Eight" over this past Christmas holiday. It was crazy! Absolutely crazy! And I loved every minute of it!!! I'm so glad I got to see the 70MM Roadshow version of this film! If you have the time, and it's still playing in your area, I highly recommend checking out this version instead of the edited version they just released.

Other films from this past year that I really enjoyed were...

“Ex Machina”
“Force Majeure”
“What We Do In The Shadows”
“Tom On The Farm”
“Crimson Peak”
“Mad Max – Fury Road”
“Star Wars – The Force Awakens”
“The Final Girls”
“Carol”
