Default 18 Months Off? - Mick

It sounds like he's not exactly serious about the 18 months off...

Quote:
WWW.CLASSICROCKREVISITED.COM:

This news is brought to you by VH1 Radio’s Dave Basner

After a pretty busy period, Fleetwood Mac have been quiet lately, but we caught up with drummer Mick Fleetwood who filled us in on the band’s future plans.

“We’ve been working like dogs for about a year and a half nearly. So that ended just before Christmas in Australia and we had a fantastic tour, went all over the world, and a happy one, a happy tour. So I would say knowing us bunch, we’ll probably take about 18 months off. And then there is definitely the want to do more work and hopefully we’ll do more recording. I don’t know whether that’s really gonna happen or not.”

In the meantime, Mick is working with his Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, setting up an American tour. Keep up to date on all things Mick at MickFleetwood.com.

He's really taking a bet figuring they'll all be alive in 18 months.

So glad for him to say it was a happy, happy tour. Of course, I doubt I'll hear those words out of Stevie's mouth, but I'll take what I can get.

This at least suggests the Eagles co-tour won't be happening any time soon! I would love one more Mac album, but in the meantime (Ha!) I could go for solo albums from Mr. Buckingham and Ms. Nicks.

Actually was kind of sad to read this (about taking 18 months off). Yes, I can see the need for a break, but that long? The momentum and energy is not there anymore, but then again, that is the historic formula over the years. I am sure even though it was a happy tour, they want a break from each other to regroup and re-energize.

With that said, am happy because it would give Stevie time to really work on what she is doing with Dave in the studio. It does sound like she is ready to make something happen. I really can not see Stevie sitting around not doing anything for 18 months. She is too restless for that.

Maybe by having an 18 month timeline, it will force Stevie to get a new album out and hit the damn road! Seeing as 18 months off from Dec 2009 would end up being June of 2011, she could do a new album and tour by then, but she needs to ****in hurry!

Having heard this disappointing news, I went to my boss and suggested that I needed 18 months off to recharge my batteries.

He wasn't impressed.

Well, this might become the TISL to Say You Will era Part II. Stevie released TISL in May 2001, and went into the studio with Fleetwood Mac in January 2002, only 8 months later, so it is possible for Stevie to release an album in late 2010/early 2011 and join the band in the studio by late summer 2011. And if she continues working at the speed that she is going at, she could finish an album by the fall is my guess.

Oh good grief... this is exactly what I thought would happen, but it's still grating to see regardless . My ass this tour was to warm up and go straight into the studio!! Just another Mac cash in, as I suspected!

LMAO exactly! And if they do get together to make another album, they will bitch later about it having not been used to being around each other. Oh the many contradictions of Fleetwood Mac.

18 monthes is too long....Its probably cause of Mick and the Blues band touring...now he's doing the states...so that leaves Stevie with only one other option...a solo album...glad to see her in the studio with Dave Stewart then....hopefully trying to get some solo stuff accomplished.
