That's what Tiff told us, too!

I hope it's good (i.e., better than the last one).

Good to hear! I've enjoyed the various band members solo albums of this decade far more than I have enjoyed anything Fleetwood Mac has released since 1987. Let's hope Lindsey will fully purge all of his old Gift Of Screws songs so that if there is another Mac album, he can go into it with fresh material. I'm a little skeptical about the "this summer" release timeframe though... it's summer in a matter of days, and we've heard nothing official from a record company. Perhaps "this summer" translates to mid fall?

It's definitely great news, no matter where we're hearing it! Now let's pray to the "commercial gods" that "The Stevie Nicks 1000" doesn't buy it, then "push the 'send button' and share it to 5 million others!" I'll do my part. I'll buy 5 copies. One for the house, one for the car, one for work, one for the gym (it's a rock album) and one to keep in cellophane . . . 'just in case.'

Amen. I've come to expect a lot of quality from Lindsey's solo albums. UTS had three, maybe four, fine moments and the rest was way, way below par for him. Here's hoping for something along the lines of Law and Order or Out of the Cradle.

It would be really cool if it were an album full of recordings he made in 1978!

Better yet, just release a live album of FM in Tucson 1980, & let's call it even, Lindsey.

Yeah it should be in the Lindsey forum, but its not, so I will reply here....

Many of you know, I view things in a somewhat Lindsey centric way and am a huge Lindsey fan. I just don't know how excited I am about the possibility of a new album.

Lindsey to me has always been a master craftsman of songs. In his recent work I personally hear a loss of that wonderful songcraft he has such a gift for. To me it is a combination of things. Guitar playing that was too out front compared to what the song called for. (Songs on Say You Will) A degradation of his vocals that have left some songs whispered instead of sung. (Much of UTS) Use of dated vocal processing effects particulary in the choruses of songs. Engineering choices that leave songs feeling sterile and muted. Finally the songs themselves. While no doubt Lindsey has improved as a lyricist, I hear a lack of melody and a definite lack of hooks more often than not in his more recent song output.

For many of you all of what i mentioned might be the reasons you dig Lindsey right now. In no way am I demeaning that. Taste in music is a personal thing. For me though, I see a shift in Lindsey's music that makes his more recent work less desirable for me to listen to.

You've been reading my old posts, I see.

Exception: CASTAWAY DREAMS, whose style & melodic arc are lifted from old Kingston Trio.
