This is just as tough as Bella Donna because its a perfect album but I wont cop out. Go Your Own Way is such a highlight for me and is the best song on the album IMHO. However I would have to go with Side 2. Stevie's best song GDW and Chris's best song YMLF are on this side plus The Chain and I cant have a 1977 Fleetwood Mac without Oh Daddy so side 2 for me.

Firstly, thank you for not including Silver Springs, since it WASN'T on Rumours.
Just like Bella Donna, this is really a toss up. But since my favorite song Oh Daddy is on side 2, Imma gonna vote for side 1.

Side two for me, Rumours was just getting warmed up by the end of Songbird for what was in store in the Chain, the best band collaboration of the entire history of Fleetwood Mac, crediting all 5 members. Fun to now know most of the history of the creation of that masterpiece of song craft. Only to be followed up by Christine McVie's best pop song, it never gets old, sounds just as good on the radio in 2021 as it did in '77. The wonderfully written, arranged and sung I Don't. Want to Know, Rumours overlooked gem and Stevie and Lindsey sing the song brilliantly. Oh Daddy, I'm in the camp that loves it and wow what a treat live. Finally there's Gold Dust Woman, a tour de force live for decades, had its glory captured in every "witch" way of wonderful to gloriously end Rumours. Stevie Nicks would write songs of equal calibre afterwards, but none stood the test of time and worked so well on the stage as GDW. I know it's hard not to mention a single track on side one as each are amazing, but side two just takes this classic album to the stratosphere.
And then... there's Silver Springs, and not to upset Homer still one of the best songs the band ever did and Stevie Nicks best composition of her long career.

Say it! It wasn't on Rumours! You can't rewrite history, try as you might. And IDWTK is a fantastic song. $tevie's an idiot for hating it.

I love I Don't Want to Know, should've been single #5 its an outstanding song and should not have been so overlooked over the band's many tours.

I'll second that. Silver Springs was NOT on Rumours, and thank God.
Silver Springs is a great old song. But Rumours is absolutely perfect how it is. I'll take side 2. Songbird has me in the clutches and then The Chain starts up, and it's all a beautiful ride from there.

If you'd hypothetically asked me in 1977 (I'd have been 3) I'd have said side 1. Objectively its probably better overall.
But at this moment in time Dreams and Don't Stop are a little boring for me. Whereas, Oh Daddy and Gold Dust Woman I almost discover something new every single time I hear them. I vote side 2.

You are just siding with your hero Mick because he yanked Silver Springs. BTW Mr Eagles. Many thought Hotel California was too long too including Felder. Yet the drummer in THAT band kept the song on the album and even named the album after it. Don did not sacrifice a great song because another one "fit." Would you edit Go Your Own Way because the guitar part is too long? I don't think so. And would you dare say any of this to Bob Dylan? I don't think so.

Side two for certain. Less singles but more expansiveness. GYOW is essential but all of the songs on side 2 are remarkable and perfectly sequenced.

Silver Bed Springs belonged as a B side. Do you have any idea how much money was made by Felder, Henley and all for that OPUS? Please don't compare SS to HC! Dog turds to caviar!!!!

No, I wouldn't.
I don't HATE Oh Daddy, it's just my least favorite song on my FAVORITE album of all time. The album that created my direction in life. They can't all be your favorite song... You know I don't like snoozefests. Beautiful Child blows, as does Storms. Silver Springs ain't exactly a cocaine dance, either! Gimme a damned beat!!!
