I've told this story to The Ledge before but I will tell it again. If my memory serves me right, The Roxy in Phoenix, Az. did not offer tickets for sale in advance. It was first come, first serve, day of show sales. This was not a concert venue in the traditional sense. This was a bar with pool tables and dart boards. It had 2 floors and we were free to roam anywhere we wanted throughout the show. There was a small stage, almost level with the floor and I was right up front, right in front of Lindsey for the whole performance. I don't remember anyone else on the stage. My memory is only of him. I remember thinking how tiny he was. He looked so little compared to how I pictured him on a Fleetwood Mac stage. I always thought he was six feet tall but here was this man, tiny and ultra thin. He looked about 5'4". His playing was fantastic and the energy of those around me on the floor was great. We were all into it and cheering loudly and dancing. A good chunk of the patrons were only there to drink, hang with their friends, play pool and darts, socialize with strangers, try to pick people up, you know the usual stuff you see in a bar atmosphere. And to most of those people Lindsey Buckingham was no more than background music to them. They gave him the same attention they'd give to a local band. When Lindsey finished his show he called out the people on the balcony for ignoring him throughout the show. He was real angry. He stood there and angrily thrusted out both of his middle fingers and screamed Ffffffffffkkk Uuuuuuuuuu~!!!!!!! And I was so shocked and I said to myself, "I will never go see this man again in concert."

I wonder why he would play such a venue. Unless they paid him a lot of money. I read on some website a Q & A from a friend of Cheri Caspari, Lindsey's girlfriend during this period and she said that once he got back out there promoting his OOTC album and touring he started drinking again after stopping and things with him got a bit crazy. I don't think he could handle the pressure very well on his own.

Or maybe that is just his way and how he deals with any kind of frustration. Not inconceivable.
