Default Sex and the City...the movie

So my mom brought me over to the drive in last night to see it. She's the one who suggested we go. I've been bugging her for weeks to take me to see Narnia...but NOPE....

so anyways, we went to the drive in, and we saw this then Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsy, cause I love him.

1st to start off, I was so shocked that this movie, rated R was on before the pg13 movie playing after it. it was very sexually explicit, which is why it probably should have been on the far screen, not the one right next to Indiana Jones with a bunch of little kids at it!

Overall the movie, had its funny moments, I def liked seeing the unedited stuff rather than the show on syndication [we don't get HBO at my house], and I thought overall the plotline was good.

I won't post any spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but wants to, but I can say I was dissapointed how much the movie didn't really focus as much on the other girls as much as it should have. It was too much about Carrie, I know she's the central character, but I would have liked to have seen more of Samantha in it, I think shes fcking hilarious! But of course we did get a few of those memorable scenes from the show.

However, I did feel that the movie was at times predicable. But what else could they have really done with it?

Can't wait to hear everyone elses thoughts!

Okay I haven't seen this yet--can't wait to!--but I have to say...

It is freaking WICKED that you have a drive-in theater nearby you. I have wanted to go to one like my whole life, LOL! There used to be one by me growing up, but we never went, and it's been gone now my entire adult life lol...so sad!

If you don't mind my asking, where are you from? You don't have to say city if you don't want to, state is fine...just in case I wind up there in one of my travels someday, I'm totally hitting the drive-in!

Oh yah, and I always loved Samantha in the show too...she's my favorite I think.

Loved it!!!

Was it predicatble? Sure. To me, it was like having an extra long episode on the big screen (which was especially good near the end...and those who have seen it know what I am talking about)
Was it too focused on Carrie? No, it really is her story, and I think they did well by the other characters. If anyone got the shaft it was Charlotte. Her character did not have any real drama to go through. Her function as The Cheerleader of the group was amped up, and that's about it.
J Hud was a nice addition, and I adore her, but I don't thing she was needed.
A couple of things about the showing I went to: My boyfriend stedfastly refused to go see the movie. So I called up my frreind Corby. He came over to the house and we watched the final episode on dvd while drinking cosmos. When we got to the theater, many seats were taken, so we ended up in front of a straight couple. The man obviously didn't want to be there (ladies, don't drag your boyfriend/husband/f*ck buddy to see this or any other chick flick, he just ruins it for the rest of the patrons. Leave him at home and bring a girlfriend, like I did) and talked through the whole movie ('What the Hell kind of movie did you bring me to?')
As we left the theater, we ran into a couple of other guys we knew and (snap) like that, we were all over at our favorite restaurant drinking more cosmos and talking c*ck. It really was such a great day...

LOL, at any point in the SITC movie did Carrie get her couture dress splashed by a truck hitting a puddle? I think that's always such a funny setup in a movie or TV show?

omgz yes!!! [Charlotte in Mexico!!]

Petep....no Carrie was not splashed by a truck, but during one scene the girls are wearing fur, and someone splattered some red [I'm sure it was paint] on Samanthas beautiful white coat. Of course it was an activist, but I thought it was hilarious!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will probably go next weekend.

Just for fun, here's Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Stevie in 2001:

I really want to see this but I don't have anyone to go with. How sad would it be if I went alone?!

Not at all. It's time away for you, not sad that you're alone!

Not sad at all! I did. I didn't want to drag my boyfriend and then sit there and possibly have him make fun of the movie or something because that would have pissed me off.

Just go enjoy yourself!

I feel that this film is inferior to Renoir's LE CARROSSE D'OR in its trenchant analysis of class division & the vagaries of love.

My best friend Patrick had been waiting for this movie for months, so we had a standing date to see it the evening that it opened. A co-worker, Sylvia, wanted to join us so we met at the theater aout an hour and a half early for our 7:40pm screening. The place was packed, everyone drinking cosmo's in the bar upstairs. We got to sit exactly where we wanted and had such a good time.

The movie was great. I've always been a huge SJP fan and thought that she did an amazing job. Samantha, of course, stole the show - as always, she had the best lines.
I don't want to post any spoilers, even though the movie has been out now for over a week, so anyone who REALLY wanted to see it would have done so by now.

What is really incredible is how well this film has done at the box office.
