"Yet it is Christine McVie's thoughtful, majestic "Why," which unfolds from a backcountry fingerpick to a soaring poem of regret and passage, that marks the transition from early Mac (which officially ended with 1974's HEROES ARE HARD TO FIND) to one of the most influential Anglo-American bands of all time."

I like that. Now there's somebody who knows what they're talking about. I've always thought of "Why" as majestic.

Lis, what's gotten into you? It looks like you're addicted to Google.

I just played the Mac's '74 rendition of "Why" (thanks MacFan057!) for a friend who'd never heard the song, studio or live. He couldn't believe how good it was. "Hey now THIS is a good song!" he enthused, after giving "Bermuda Triangle" a lukewarm reception.

Oh my god, it's getting absurd. I should be locked away. Someone needs to put a stop to it.

You know what it is?? Marty bought this gorgeous (but enormous, totally too big) desk for us to put the basement computer on, and we also got a new monitor for upstairs and brought the older one down here, thus replacing our ancient monstrosity that used to be here. Plus we now have speakers that work, as well as a new keyboard and a new chair...all down here in the basement. Away from my children. LOL. Not a good combination, way too tempting.

So now when the kids are upstairs watching the Sponge Bob movie for the 43rd time or playing on the computer or fighting like cats and dogs etc, I can come down here to my peaceful retreat and waste entirely too much time on google.

I am also obsessing on Maroon 5, my daughter has turned me on to them.

The song will come on and you will not be able to pull yourself away LOL. Encourages me to google way too much.

I played "Why" for a friend (who has since passed) who said that it reminded him of a Brit-pop rendition of "I Shall Be Released." Seeing that he was a Dylan fan, that was a compliment.

That's EXACTLY what I thought when I first heard it! Especially if you've heard Walter Trout's version of "I Shall Be Released." It's got this kind of weepy, nostalgic quality to it. I love both those songs.
