Time -The Album
Hi everyone,
I thought i would post a message about the Mac album Time Overall i thought that the CD was ok. I dont know why Dave mason was invited to the party though !! My favorite tracks are from Christine and Bekka Bramlett I would agree with anyone who thought that Chris's song 'All Over Again' was about here leaving the group. Other songs that i thought were very good were Hollywood Winds OF Change Dreaming the Dream Nights In Estoril All Over Again I feel that this was a goodbye album to Christine and a album to tie over John & Mick before they could get Lindsey & Stevie back again. According to Mick.. though some people think he doesn't tell the truth always, Chris officially announced (by that time) she wouldn't be on the road with the band. But she would join them for studio sessions.
That was during the TIME days. For SYW she was definitive living in England and didn't want to be in te States too much time. Well, that was the official first reason Mick gave. |

If I remember correctly it was September 12, 1990 that the announcement was made to the press that Christine & Stevie would leave the group after the BTM tour had finished in 12/90 though they would still record with the group. Apparently other circumstances arose as to why Stevie had left altogether and of course Christine stood by this agreement until the pressure came to do "The dance" tour, if that's of any help.

I didn't care for Billy's songs at all - sound or lyrics.
All over Again is my favorite on the album. Bekka's songs are okay. I like her better on lead than on back-up. The only Mason song I like was "I Wonder Why". I didn't care for "Nights in Estoril" or "Sooner or Later". "Hollywood" is catchy but too long. I didn't care for "These Strange Times" at all. - Jake

Love the Time album...BUT, as with Say You Will, I can't stand the running order "as is".
Yet, again, here's how I reprogram the running order: I DO TALKIN' TO MY HEART I WONDER WHY WINDS OF CHANGE SOONER OR LATER DREAMING THE DREAM NIGHTS IN ESTORIL NOTHING WITHOUT YOU I GOT IT IN FOR YOU HOLLYWOOD BLOW BY BLOW THESE STRANGE TIMES ALL OVER AGAIN To me, with this running order, the album seems to have a better flow from song to song. |

The whole album is quite enjoyable, and very unfairly maligned. I even like Dave Mason's contributions (especially "I Wonder Why")!
And from the first time I heard it, "Nights In Estoril" has held a place among my Top 5 favorite Christine songs. Hmm... has anyone thought of sequencing Christine's 5 'Time' tracks alongside 5 each of Stevie and Lindsey's 'Say You Will' tunes? Might make for an interesting mix. I think I'd use "Thrown Down," "Destiny Rules," "Smile At You," "Everybody Finds Out," "Goodbye Baby," "Miranda," "Peacekeeper," "Come," "Steal Your Heart Away," and "Bleed To Love Her."

While "Time" will never be among my favorite Fleetwood Mac albums, I still generally like it. It's a lot better than most people think. I think Christine's songs are terrific, especially "All Over Again" which is her goodbye to Fleetwood Mac. I am getting more used to Bekka's voice now and I like "Dreaming The Dream" & "Nothing Without You". I also like "I Got It In For You". I don't especially like Dave Mason's songs, although I do like Bekka's back up vocals on the songs. But, I don't think I'm ever going to like "These Strange Times". Still, this album is definitely very listenable if you give it a chance.

I have the "Time" album too, and my favorites are "Talking to My Heart" (Billy and Bekka) and "Blow By Blow" (Bekka and Dave).
I should probably give the CD another spin in my stereo....it's been a LONG time since I listened to it. Michele |
