I don’t think age 50 is young

I understood they used to say that when they were very young ("Because we started out so young together, both Lindsey and I would always laughingly say...")

If she meant they said it during The Dance years or later, I don't believe it. I'd say she lied. Obviously it's also hard to believe they said it during the 80s.

It was big money for them to pretend to love each other. And they made big money.

So get this. One of my friends posted a video link to Stevie’s interview from last Sunday and people made comments ( this was on Facebook). Some people got to arguing over whether Stevie supported Lindsey or vice versa etc during the early days before they joined FM.

One of Stevie’s former backup singers comments and was quite rude to fans and essentially said that because we are simply fans and never stayed at Stevie’s House or toured with Stevie, FM etc we don’t know the whole story. She even mentioned one of them in a comment.

This person responded by asking what in their comments was a lie ( living off the inheritance from his dad, touring with Chuck Berry, The Everley Brothers , him having that telemarketer job for like a day and then they both decided that that it would be better if she worked while he stayed home to work on their music etc ) they got a response that basically said I know the truth and I’m not going to waste my time.

Like seriously???? Any big fan of the band knows the story and why would you discount them simply because they didn’t tour with them or stay at the house.

In my opinion it’s the hardcore fans who know the extensive history

Do you think there would have been fewer album and ticket sales without it? I think they would have made a lot of money if they sold the Fleetwood Mac history merchandise, like the Star Wars toys.

I admit I enjoyed those looks of love while they sang during the 1997 shows. I knew it was an act, they weren't fooling me at all. But I find it cool anyway. But that was 1997. It fit perfectly with the reunion mood.

I do think the looks of love and the romance of Stevie and Lindsey are what made The Dance go viral, in today’s terms. A lot of the promotion — videos, interviews, etc. — focused on the “healing” and chemistry of Stevie and Lindsey. They got a huge amount of the spotlight on that tour. And most people did think it was real and speculated that maybe they’d get back together. I was also around back then and I think it drove a lot of people to this site as well because it was the confluence of early internet fan culture and a viral tv moment.

While I do think the quality of the performance alone without the Stevie/Lindsey moments would have made The Dance successful, I think it would not have been nearly as successful as it turned out to be.

Also, not for nothing, Stevie may have benefited most of all. After Street Angel, she was not in a great situation — she believed she was overweight and said she would never perform at that weight again. Cut to The Dance and she’s lost weight and part of a torrid romance on stage that gets rebroadcast night after night. And it’s those parts of the show —especially Silver Springs — that the younger generations have been especially drawn to.

Yes, agreed. I certainly fell for it — not the romance but the healing. I assumed that the five would carry on to a richly rewarding second career, so to speak, and record great albums that pioneered a new, more mature and sophisticated aesthetic for a band of accomplished fifty-somethings and take to the road in a communal spirit in the years after 1997. Boy, was I taken for a fool.

As Stevie said in this article, she's touring in 2025. She's now announced two concerts with Billy Joel in Detroit and New Jersey.

Anybody think the setlist will be different from her 2022-2024 Tour other than playing The Lighthouse?
