Default New interview with the "Songbird" memoir author

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNCHiSJdjG0

Did Dennis Wilson actually have an affair with Stevie as this author firmly states? I thought that was debunked?

She also goes on to say that the rest of the band kept in touch with her so little that none of them knew she was sick until it was too late. However, we do know that John had some sort of heads up.

It's actually a much shorter list of who she DIDN'T have an affair with.

I always thought there was some truth to the dennis/stevie thing... Everyone slept with everyone at that time...i wouldn't find it shocking in the least.

I haven't heard the interview yet but thank you for posting it!! saving it for when i clean my kitchen lol.

and imo this woman couldn't have been too close w chris at all if she didn't know how truly close her relationship was with john.

I listened/watched. It’s a mix of well-covered ground and absolute ****.

That Christine would quit the band in 1997 because she found out Stevie had had an affair with Dennis is preposterous. Did Stevie have an affair with him? Maybe—heck, I’d believe it. But is THAT the reason? Good god. What a sad way to make these people look petty and less than they were/are.

We all know Christine and Stevie weren’t “best friends” and that Stevie didn’t even know Christine was sick until very late. But John knew when it was time to see her. And her illness came on fast…

So, this whole narrative is really irresponsible and doesn’t serve Christine or her memory. It’s just a hack hanger-on who may have had a few convos with Christine over the years that she’s reframed in ways Christine wouldn’t want presented to the public.

I suspect Chris and Stevie were fairly close in the mid 70s. Being women in the band would naturally form a bond. When the ego and stardom took over Stevie is probably where their relationship diminished. When the Mirage tour ended in late 1982 they never saw each other until the band showed up as support for Chris on the last night of her solo tour. They would again not see each other for years. Chris even took a swipe at her in one of her 1984 interviews claiming they were not friends, dont hang out, and was concerned how she created a fantasy world that she lived in. She added that 10 years ago (1974) she really had her feet on the ground.
I totally would believe that Stevie hooked up with Dennis. Dennis was a womanizer. He probably saw Stevie up all night at a party and made his moves.
Chris's illness and passing can mislead people. When she was diagnosed with terminal cancer she probably was in no rush to tell the world. She probably would have told more friends as time went on. But she suffered a major stroke which put her on life support. When the family made their decision it was private and the way it should be. It was not about purposely being disrespectful to people. But no way the family wanted a parade of people coming to make the decision even harder.

That's what I thought was weird - she didn't quit in 1997 because she found out about an affair that happened 20 years prior.

I can't imagine writing a book without really having your facts straight. The only thing she nailed down was the fact that Christine and Stevie were not close friends despite the revisionist take from Stevie Nicks

And i still havent heard this interview ,but reading what you guys are saying here is nuts. There were several reasons why Chris quit in 98 but Stevie possibly screwing Dennis back in the Tusk era was not one of them lol. give me a break. Both the relationship and the man had been dead for years. This woman seems to attach more significance to Dennis than really existed...? I wonder if Dennis was the only man in Chris's life that Ms. Jones ever actually had a conversation w chris about.

And regarding her illness, Chris made very conscious choices regarding how private she wanted everything. Very few people knew anything because she didn't want them to know anything. She had the couple of people *who she wanted* with her...and even if she'd lingered longer before the stroke, I don't know if that would have changed.

So I won't be surprised if this book turns out to be fluff, probably presented in a way that Chris would not have liked or agreed with...

That's a shame but not a shock....

I would totally believe Stevie and Dennis hooked up. Stevie said herself that because she and Mick were the hardest partiers they were always the last ones up when everyone passed out or went to bed. Being the only ones still up sort of led to their affair especially when you are drunk and high out of your mind. Dennis was the same way. I can see him being at a party with Stevie and once the crowd left realized Stevie had some great blow which led to them being along after a long party.
I would imagine Chris found out about it before 1998 even if it happened. But even if it was a late discovery, Chris was not in the mood to be around the band anymore. Her marriage to Eddy was falling apart, she started to hate CA, and she did not like traveling by airplane and touring. Chris looked miserable during The Dance. You know how miserable she truly was because it was one of the only times she told Mick: NO. She was not going to tour another month in Europe and was not going to stay. That says alot.

She really did. I’m glad we got one more act from her. The Dance was no way for Christine F*****g McVie to exit the stage.

I'll never forget that day Mick posted that image of Christine with him at Fleetwood's on the rooftop. Everyone knew something was afoot at that point.

It was seriously an amazing time to be a Fleetwood Mac fan. It was such a joyus October getting to see them twice within those early weeks of the tour. Hard to believe its been 10 years, yet on the other hand it feels like 20 years at times.
