Should Fleetwood Mac try a fan-funded album?

Because the problem is a motivated Fleetwood Mac can't find the money to book studio time to record?

Exactly, and God only knows what it cost them to rent that Bel Air mansion for 18 months for the Say You Will album. My guess is over a half million dollars total for the house alone... and that didn't even include equipment, electricity, managers/assistants/attorneys fees/et al.

I'd do it, as long as I got my name listed in the "producer" credits of the liner notes.

Fleetwood Mac doesn't need money- they have plenty. It's a creative issue.

Anyway, I think I've funded enough of the Mac's extravagant lifestyle already.

But to the B52s point, is it because it is too expensive to get them all in one place for the amount of time it takes to write and record new music (travel, lodging, amenities, recording facilities)? In other words, the B52s aren't willing to give up their lifestyle and preferred methods of working (unlimited studio time) because they are THAT rich and famous, just not rich enough to afford such luxuries.
Or is it, as many have said here, that the Mac could afford everything they'd want/need but just don't care enough about making more music to even consider a relatively minor sacrifice. In other words, the Mac is worth THAT much more $$$ than the B52s, but don't have the desire?
