Solo output from 2013-2024
I compiled Stevie's solo tracks from the past decade. I'm impressed that she's remained fairly prolific, releasing a new track almost ever year since In Your Dreams and 24 Karat Gold: Song from the Vault. Some tracks have a country flair, which are nice and comfy, and others are a little edgier, which are different and unexpected. What do you think?

How many are actually creative outputs from HER as opposed to her adding vocals to someone else's work?
Not disagreeing she's stayed busy. Just that left to her own creativity half of these wouldn't be there. And some of the ones that are, well.... What Has R&R Ever Done For You is actually an embarrassment. It's like the initial kernel of a song that never got finished.(There's a reason none of her producers went with it). They lyrics are incoherent, mean nothing really. It sounds fun and if she had put the effort into real lyrics it could've been really good. Singing it with Dolly, who continues to write intelligent fun songs is... actually kinda cringy.

I will have to check out Save Me; somehow that one missed me.
I liked Find Your Way Home and Oil from this quite a bit!

Out of all these songs, the only ones I liked were You Can’t Fix This, Find Your Way Back Home, and the Remedy. The rest were either completely forgettable to me or I really, really disliked. |

Now if we count how many of these were performed live for an audience we get: 2013: You Can't Fix This, Sad Angel, Without You 2014: Golden at Country Awards on TV (Golden was not originally recorded with Stevie by that Lady A group - what does A stand for?) 2019: Prove You Wrong - Ellen, Sheryl concert, Jimmy Kimmel 2022-2024: For What It's Worth (a cover of a song from 1966) 2024: The Lighthouse (S.N.L., Jimmy Kimmel) All that said, her most recent album of 14-16 songs was released over 10 years ago. Stevie fans want another one. |

Borrowed with LeAnn Rimes is stunning.
The lyrics really resonated with Stevie (can't imagine why)..... And curiously this was the song she reportedly wanted to play for Lindsey the night of Music Cares in order to suggest to him that they (she and he? All of FM? unclear) should consider "doing" (does that mean covering live? on record? When did the Rumours5 ever do covers??). Besides which, if you listen to the lyrics, it would be a totally BIZARRE thing to put out in public..... It's the story of LeAnn and her husband of many years now, but when they met he was married and they had an affair and he left his wife and kid for her. The ex-wife went on to be on Real Housewives and just dragged him for years, and LeAnn was just totally shunned and shut out and shamed for it all by the country music industry. Now think about at that time....Lindsey was married with 3 kids, and Stevie thinks it's a good idea for them to think of singing a song with lyrics like: I know you're not mine Only borrowed Coz you already belong to her-- At least you said so... But I'm starting to believe that ain't the whole truth Coz when we're lying side by side I get the whole you and a chorus that goes: I don't wanna give you back I don't wanna give you back You're the best I'll ever have And I don't wanna give you back But you're borrowed......

I burned this compilation to CD, leaving off "Save Me" and "Show Them the Way" (Acoustic Piano Version) because they wouldn't fit the 80m disc. CD actually sounds pretty cohesive. I see Extended Play tracks as Fleetwood Mac, so I left those off.

"Save Me" is kind of the outlier of this bunch because not a lot is known about it, aside from the fact it was included in an obsure Tijuana dog rescue documentary. At first, I thought it was an AI-generated track. Stevie sounds pretty good on it. The lead vocalist is a mystery to me, though. Linda Thompson? Wonder why this track was so incognito.

Sadly, none of these songs resonate with me.
Golden is the only one I actually listen to on occasion.

I love her vocal on Remedy with Maroon 5. It’s the best. It reminds me of her harmonies with Lindsey back in the 70’s.

Before they "woke" up they were known as Lady Antebellum.

You Can't Fix This is my absolute favorite on this list. I have listened to this song many times over the years and always enjoyed her live performances of this with Dave Grohl and Haim. Especially that one where Dave had her walk down the catwalk into/above the audience at the LA Forum. I also enjoy Beautiful People Beautiful Problems and Cotton Candy Land.

I really like WHRREDFY with Dolly. They tear right into it, play well off each other's vocals and energy, and have a great time.
