Default Oscars

And the nominees are...

No real big surprises, IMO.

Yeah...no surprises with the noms.

Sideways was not nominated???? WHAT! Great movie!

Aviator...not so good!

Passion DID at least get 3 noms. Cinematography, makeup, and score! (IMO...it should have been nom for best actor (Jim Caviezel) and best actress (Maia Morgenstern)

and no Phantom of the Opera noms? or did I overlook that!?!

I actually thought DiCaprio did a great job. Despite looking nothing like Hughes, I felt the pulled it off. Maybe because I've always been interested in Howard Hughes anyway.

But it doesn't matter who was nominated in the Best Actor category - Jamie Foxx is a shoo-in.

I really hope Kate Winslet wins for best actress. I know she absolutely will not, but Eternal Sunshine is my favorite movie...

Frankly, I'm very relieved not to see The Passion up for best picture.

Me too.

I have to say - apart from the emotion in the story that many apparently felt due to their religious beliefs, the acting was not that great. He did an okay job, but hardly Oscar worthy. She, on the other hand, was IMO geat and an Academy Award nomination would not have been out of the question

I think that Maia Morgenstern should have been up for Best Actress for "The Passion" but if not her....I really enjoyed Emmy Rossum in Phantom of the Opera...but no nom. for her either!!!

Oh well, besides those two, there really weren't any great movies this year

Last year though I was CRAZY about "Cold Mountain". I thought it was a great film! But I have a biased...I DO LOVE NICOLE!
